the best case is a plain black steel box with at most two small red LEDs

it fades into the background of any environment and never goes out of style

this is mine, i think. i don't even remember what i bought.

Gonna look janky when you pop one of those 5-1/4 covers out for a drive
and if you dont then just find one w/o the drive cutouts

i popped two of em out already, for a dvd drive and card reader. they're both black and i desoldered the LEDs from them so it's still extremely understated and subtle. (could probably get the drive out, i've probably used it once in the last four years)

obv if you get some super dumbshit gamer grade card reader covered in RGBs or a grandmaputer beige 52x cd-rom it's gonna look like poo poo.

3-segment turbo LED display and it's not displaying 219, 420, 666 or any other pos approved numbers. missed opportunity

did anyone ever make updated 5.25" LED panels that would show current clockspeeds? seems like that'd be a big winner with ~turbo-boost~ and multi-cores and poo poo

i think it's just fan speed/temp/voltage because that's stuff you can just plug into the motherboard and have it work

can't wait for the paper on data exfiltration from airgapped nerd-rigs by manipulating the clock-speed readout through C-states or something
