I want to hook my launch PS4 up to my newish AOC G2460PG monitor. The issue is that the monitor only has one single DisplayPort input, nothing else. I've searched around the web and have read that a simple passive adapter won't work, and that I need a relatively expensive active converter like this: Startech model. I don't care about breaking out sound, as I'll be using it with a Bluetooth headset, but I just want to make sure that: A, this will actually work, and B, that it's my best option before buying it.

I'm also a little concerned that the Startech converter has pretty poor amazon reviews, lots of reports about failing units and poor build quality.

So, AV experts, should I buy the Startech converter? Is there a better (or cheaper) way?

it means nothing, but says everything!

Try something like this first before going to an active powered converter. I've used these a bunch with laptops in conference rooms and similar, and never had issues.

A model similar to the one you recommended was a no-go. The active powered one works though. Time will tell if it actually lasts.
