Super Mario Bros 3

Went to Walmart to see about getting a Pro Controller since I forgot to pre-order one. They had that plus some un-preordered consoles and an un-preordered Zelda Special Edition.

I bought the console because I'm worried Amazon's won't ship on time, so I just cancelled it. My Special Edition from Gamestop had already shipped, though, so... uh, I guess I have two?

I'd probably compare Fast RMX more to Extreme G than Wipeout, really.

Just finished the forced stealth sequence in BOTW. 50 hours in, this is the only sequence I would say that's been outright bad. In a game with a clear set of rules and multiple ways to do most things, this sequence broke many of the rules set by the game, and it only really has one solution. Getting one-hit KO'd no matter your armor, health, ferries, or special ability buff is super tedious and goes against everything else in the game. There is only one good solution: Don't get spotted. And every choice you make in your approach is in service of that solution.

It isn't long or incredibly hard, but getting spotted once means you need to restart from the beginning. The whole thing felt like a joke from the devs. They really wanted everyone to see the silly enemy animation when you drop the bananas in front of them. With a small amount of tweaking, it would have been fine.

I never dropped any bananas. I just put on the Sheikah suit and sneakstriked the lot of them. Very easy and fun.

there will be no SNES titles in the switch vc so as not to compete with the SNES classic. Once that leaves production, they'll hit the switch

Here's the nine games they could realistically (so licensed stuff like Turtles in Time is out) add to make it on par with the NES Classic's 30.

- Chrono Trigger
- Donkey Kong Country 2
- Tetris Attack
- Super Mario All-Stars
- ActRaiser
- Super Bomberman
- Gradius III
- Kirby's Dreamland 3
- Final Fight 3/Final Fantasy IV/Breath of Fire (pick your poison here)

What's on the SNES Classic is actually a pretty darned good list, though.

Man, now that I think about it Super Mario All-Stars is a pretty glaring omission since the NES Classic is discontinued.

Still, I'll pick it up.

True. Just hack in "Panel de Pon" to the title screen.

What JPN exclusives would show up on the Super Famicom Classic? I'd say Seiken Densetsu 3 but the Switch release just happened. Fire Emblem, probably.

So for the Super Famicom Mini, it's:

- Street Fighter 2 Turbo
- Super Punch-Out!!
- Kirby's Dream Course
- Earthbound
- Super Castlevania IV
+ Super Street Fighter 2
+ Fire Emblem 4
+ Panel de Pon
+ Legend of the Mystical Ninja
+ Super Formation Soccer

The Street Fighter situation is weird. I don't know why we wouldn't all get the same one (Super). I'd trade Dream Course for either Panel or Mystical Ninja, but I think in the end US has the better lineup.

Movement has a steep learning curve for sure, and it's kinda dumb that they wait a bit to tell you how to grip around poles, but once you know how all the buttons work together it's not too bad. Mastering the controls really do seem to be the main challenge of the game, but the game's also forgiving enough to keep let you retrying for power-ups without any real penalties. I've only played three levels so far though so I may end up hating it later on. For now, I like the unique approach it takes, even if it's difficult to make the snake do what you want at first.

Also, Stardew Valley is great and really the direction the Harvest Moon series should've gone instead of whatever the hell direction they did go.

Yes to both of these things.
