To be fair, NASA is really good at putting things on Mars. But the Buran would have been able to put Orbital Drop Spetsnaz onto any airport on Earth within an hour. Edit: I'm also a fan of the N1 because I like ambitious failures that explode all the time. It was super cool and had 30 engines because the Rooskies couldn't cast an engine big enough at the time to only have 4 like the Saturn.

Yeah, but they also landed a nuclear powered car on mars that descended from cables attached to a rocket which gently set it down and then flew away. That makes up for pretty much anything.
