I am now a Missouri wrestling fan. J'den Cox is my hero, and I am growing my hair out so I can have an Askren-fro edit: In seriousness, Iowa needs a change in the coaching staff. I'm not stupid enough to say that we need to fire the Brands Bros. but I think an infusion of outside blood in the assistant staff would be helpful. I don't know how he is in the wrestling room, but Ryan Morningstar is a terrible wrestler to aspire to be, because he is the epitome of "Iowa Wrestler Underperforms In Big Tournament"-itis that has struck some of the guys Brands has coached over the last few years. I like the thought behind bringing in guys like Ben Berhow or Travis Rutt, but in my dream world, the moment a guy like David Taylor or Jordan Burroughs decides to stop competing and focus on coaching, Iowa should back a huge dump truck full of donor money to their door to bring them on staff. Somewhere in the equation there is an attitude problem in the program. Compare Iowa wrestlers in the last 30 seconds of the match to wrestlers from Penn State or Ohio State in the last 30 seconds of their matches, there's a huge difference, and it's not just Terminators like Nolf, Nickal, or Retherford, it's their B-Level guys like McCutcheon or Nevills who still haul rear end even when they're underseeded guys. (I can't explain Gulibon, who is basically a coin flip on whether or not he'll show up). Then again, the guys at the top of their game for PSU get bonus points like no other, which isn't just a sign of how talented they are. We keep getting our asses kicked like this, and at a certain point the problem can't just be the guys we have. edit2: I cannot stress "gently caress Ryan Morningstar" as a concept enough. That dude and Paul Bradley are the two names that come up when I think of underperforming Iowa wrestlers, and it still stuns me that *he* is the guy who ended up sticking around as a coach. Valencia got a TD and when they reviewed it you could tell that he had grabbed Hall's headgear and was using that to get the TD. Not dirty or anything, but it was properly overturned.

Gross actually started at Iowa but spring of his true freshman year he and a couple other Iowa wrestlers got drunk and broke in to a bunch of cars and he got kicked off the team.
