Roëmænce is ælive!
After their bankruptcy when it was revealed that Lethal Leap Year, their major annual event, was not taking place in 1987, many thought that the world would never again see the diamond in the rough that was Southpaw Regional Wrestling, that was, until this week, when WWE unearthed a video in one of their many tape libraries, featuring a snapshot in history showing their final episodes.

With the expert commentary of Utica News Anchor veteran Lance Catamaran, and color commentator Chett Chetterfield, Southpaw Regional Wrestling was a highlight.

Reminisce with me about the wonderful Southpaw Regional Wrestling, or share your initial impressions with the thread.

Watch it here.

I, for one, feel that Big Bartholemew vs the Sea Creature and Tex Ferguson vs Chadd 2 Badd would still draw today. WWE should consider these programs for mania.

I unironically prefer John Johnson to TJ Perkins.

I know they are not related or anything, just thinking out loud.

cancel raw, cancel NXT, throw Vince out of a window, and declare Stamford to be the new home of the Southpaw National Wrestling Alliance.

I heard Big Bartholemew married Christian Joy.

I also heard that they were shoot cousins.

Livin' the gimmick.

Have you guys seen Lance Catamaran these days? Dude looks like how Chet Chetterson used to look. It's sad.

Chet story was sad. His suicide in 1992 was tragic.

No it's all based on poo poo the boys do backstage to entertain each other, mostly the interactions Gallows has had over the years with grizzled vets

Tex Ferguson is incredible hahaha. Gallows definitely seems like a funny guy, which is humorous because The Club is super boring.

GREG IS BIG NOW

Chadd 2 Badd somehow squandered up the money to send Greg Valentine to put Tex Ferguson in an armbar for two and half hours.

This is Cena's love of Eric Andre and Tim and Eric meets Talking Shop, and I now want Cena and the Club to have the book. Also it's awesome they said, "let us make a quick thing with the boys, and we'll get KFC to pay for it in our time off." I do hope this is a pilot for a proper Network show

Where the big boys RAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGH FUCK YOU
WWE employs dozens of writers and yet Southpaw is the most interesting creative work the company has done in ages and it was clearly done by the boys dicking around backstage before shows.

There's probably a lesson to be learned from this but what do I know

The lesson is none of this poo poo had to get approved by Vince before making it to air like everything done by the dozens of employed writers

They should do a full-on rasslin show in a tiny TV studio with shrieking children like the NWA Saturday shows. Tape it like Lucha Underground, just hammering out a fuckton of episodes over a few weekends and air it weekly. I'd resub to the network for that. Keep the matches to simple 5-minute squashes and low-impact poo poo
