As an aspiring small business owner I have had a couple break-ins so I need a security camera system. I have got one that sorta works now but I need more cameras and I hit the limit on this lovely DVR. My first attempt at upgrading turned out a be a complete waste of time and money on some cheap Chinese garbage. Can anyone recommend a good security camera setup/company? I would like to have at least 16 cameras and be able to remotely view them so I can have my employees ever fearful of my panopticon gaze. Also it being Mac compatible would be really nice but I have reasonable expectations.

Having used their Wifi stuff and being impressed with it, I would certainly take a look at Ubiquity. https://www.ubnt.com/products/

Interesting, the guy at Best Buy recommended them too, but i don't really know what to make of their security camera stuff. Is it some software thing? Also I am just knee-jerk mistrustful of stuff that has such a slick website. HoboMan fucked around with this message at 20:16 on Mar 31, 2017 |

We have a Home Automation and Home Security System thread and we talk about cameras there. https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3635963 If you want to roll your own, you can get some nice 3MP Hikvision Cameras and build a Blu Iris server. If you want a package, get one of the IP Camera packages from Costco, they usually have the best price.
