Ultimately the choice is stay in the UK, where the Scottish voice is ultimately insignificant as shown by the number of times in the past 50 years we've ended up with governments that Scotland didn't vote for.
The last fifty years has seen 21 years of Labour government where the majority opinion of Scotland was translated into Westminster government. That's not exactly aberrant, and there are plenty of places in England which have done about the same. Furthermore there has never been a government with no Scottish representation in it. Even in the current situation where there is 1 (one) Scottish Tory MP they are given a post.

Nirelanders might have a fair complaint about their entire political system being deliberately marginalised, bit more tenuous for the Scots.

wrt Labour's media performance it is really astounding how quickly people in the Labour commentariat have forgotten the Miliband era.

The media office of the Party followed the New-Labour rulebook. Protege's from the New Labour era ran the show. It didn't, loving, matter. Come election time the papers right of the Morning Star turned on the party with varying degrees of whiplash and all the "goodwill" the media office had built up from puff pieces with Miliband's wife turned out to be worth precisely gently caress all.

Turns out to be worth 232 parliamentary seats which is about twice as many as labour would get in an election tomorrow.

In case you're new here Pissflaps is just going to keep going "Not be Jeremy Corbyn" and "Jeremy Bad" over and over.

Also it'd have helped if their press hadn't still been tory-lite. For all the "LABOUR WAS TOO LEFT WING" the stuff that stuck with me was the "Immigrants out", "We'll do an austerity, we were so irresponsible before but now we accept public services are a meaningless extravagance", and "We'll be even tougher on poor people benefits than the tories!" stuff. Whatever grand socialist vision Milibean had I barely remember it being mentioned (except for nebulous accusations his dad was a soviet and HAITS BRITANE or something).

I have no faith in the progressive nature of the Scottish National Party but still think that while you can call one year a while, 1 budget is not enough to decide the SNP will never raise taxes. You're lurching off into Jedit conspiratorial territory with the SNP here. And at least Jedit's hatred of them is based on his personal experiences with their councillors in Aberdeenshire.

It's not purely the fact that they haven't yet, it's that they haven't shown any political appetite for even discussing the issue. They've weaselled out of giving any answers every time the topic is brought up, they've failed to fulfil their promises on council tax, and generally shown their colours as a centrist party that offers no real challenge to the status quo aside from independence. They're also guilty of doing exactly what the Brexiteers did and promising an incredibly rosy future if only we 'take back control' while having no specific answers as to how it happens.

at Westminster they've proven to hold the government to account more effectively than the opposition despite having less than a quarter of the MPs.

By what metric? Literally every minor party from the Lib Dems to UKIP have called themselves 'the real opposition' recently, and I've yet to see anyone explain what the phrase actually means in real terms.

Even if every single person in Scotland had voted Labour, the Conservatives would still have won a majority.

Well, the SNP did ask Bercow if they could be considered 'the real opposition'. Which is about as far as they've got with that programme. And they were told to gently caress off and do their loving jobs, in polite terms.

I agree. The SNP are bad & I don't support them. Pretty sure I explained that already? Like I said, ScotPol exists, if you want to talk about the Scottish Parliament that's a better place than this.

Yes, the labour movement should consider this. Though in the short-term it would be better giving up on bourgeois politics as a clear failure for enacting socialism and work to extra-parliamentary solutions which prepare the country for some long overdue class war.
