sassassin posted:People give showrunners too much credit. It's a team effort and these teams change a lot of the course of seasons. It really depends on the showrunners, the amount of material to produce, etc. Like, The Simpsons was highly collaborative and no single person's "vision"--but that show was extremely episodic, joke driven, had like 26 episodes every 12 months, the creators (Brooks, Simon, Groening) were at a remove from pretty early on. In contrast (and I say this with no actual knowledge of how the show works), Harmon & Roiland are still very much day to day, they took 18 months to make 10 episodes, etc.

I don't think Rick and Morty is subject to regular TV rules anyway because the core of it is closer to The Phil Hendrie [radio] Show than a normal TV show: the core is one guy doing different voices for different characters he created improving with himself. Since Phil Hendrie is actually on Rick and Morty, I sometimes wonder if Hendrie was an inspiration to Justin Roiland at some point in his life.

The closest thing I've seen to a description of the taste is "teriyaki," although that does make me wonder how it stacks up to the homemade sauces that were made based on the schezuan labeling, since AFAIK that and teriyaki aren't really the same thing. I didn't try any of the homemade sauces though.

ninjewtsu posted:Wasn't king of the hill pretty consistently great too I'd say things started to change in season 7 in terms of more guest stars and modern storylines (the boy band episode being the premiere,) and really more noticeably in season 9 (the season Lucky was introduced as Luanne's boyfriend.) But overall, the show managed to maintain the characters' personalities for the most part. Of course, the show was also notorious for having tons and tons of different writers, which resulted in several continuity errors.

I mean "truly bad" quickly turns into splitting hairs, but like "the gang hits the slopes" was pretty weak, "rear end kickers united" wasn't particularly great, etc. They hit such a high note with most of the episodes, not all of them hold up to the same level. There's probably even better examples but those are the episodes that come off the top of my head.

Franks Brother has a flashback with kid Devito looking exactly like modern Devito. It's pretty funny. Plus, "I make the sandwich in my mouth!"

McDonald's should run a "Hungry for Apples?" ad campaign where you get a free apple with your Happy Meal or you have to buy an apple to get the Sauce when it comes back. This one might require some actual licensing though.

People should have to say "I am mentally inferior to everyone in this room. I have no personality, so I steal one from a cartoon character. Please give me the meme sauce" in order to get it. Also they have to pronounce it "may-may."

A lot of modern pop culture fandom is waiting for other people to ruin it. These reactions say nothing about the actual content of each production. With Rick and Morty, it’s still a great show; nobody should be shamed into not liking something because of a few bozo fans.
