US folks will need ESPN+ for the UFC card, though if you're international/outside of ESPN's market then you can just use your Fight Pass account. At least that's what I was lead to believe so we'll see how that works. I've slacked a lot with this so I'll try to get more on the ball with it. First there was World Lethwei Championship: Mighty Warriors. This was a really cool thing and interesting to watch given the did more bareknuckle kickboxing and also, iirc, allowed headbutts. I'm posting in this thread because I want it to be more active and I'm going to start treating it as a "let's watch fights" thread. Last night I watched Penn-Stevenson and Penn-GSP 2. I had seen both before, but not for a while. suggest fights from... let's say 2007 to 2010 to watch.

actually I just had a good idea. Someone else can probably improve it. Go to https://www.random.org/ First, generate a number from 1-661 to choose your event: 1-477 = UFC https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_UFC_events 478-545 = n-477 = Pride https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Pride_FC_events 546-608 = n-545 = Strikeforce https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Strikeforce_events 609-661 = n-608 = WEC https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WEC_events Find the card with the number in the left column. Then count the fights on the card and use random again to select a fight. EG my number is 142 - UFC 107: Penn vs. Sanchez. 11 fights, I rolled 9, which is Jon Fitch vs Mike Pierce. I'm going to get a bowl of cereal and watch a Jon Fitch fight!

Jon Fitch vs Mike Pierce UFC 107. Joe notes that fitch has some "new tricks" that he's going to reveal to the world. Before a minute is up, Fitch has clinched, found a waist lock, a cross back ride, and has jumped onto Pierce's back and started firing arm punches to go after a RNC. New tricks indeed. I appreciate how Joe put some effort into convincing the audience that they're not about to watch a Jon Fitch fight. Pierce looks slightly annoyed by this fitchslaught. Yamasaki is the ref and he warns fitch for punches to the back of the head but he doesn't seem to care that much. Pierce busts out, gets a leg, and turns it into a high crotch which he turns onto a double leg slam on the way down! He goes for some gnp but fitch digs an overhook and cage walks back up. Pierce digs the ribs a bit with a minute left. Still cage wrestling. Fitch is somehow bleeding already. Yamasaki breaks them up. Some lazy kickboxing from Fitch. Pierce whiffs with a winging left hook. They exchange a bit and Fitch's eye is a bit messed up. Fitch shoots for a lovely double at the clapper and Pierce sprawls until the horn goes. Fitch managed to get Pierce bleeding a bit too. 10-9 Fitch. Goldberg compliments the growth of the game of Jon Fitch, between rounds. All of the bleeding is under control. Some exchanges, including a superman punch attempt from Pierce to open the round, but before 30 seconds are up, Pierce is on Fitch's hips with his head in the groin and they'r epushing against the fence. Separation and more lovely kickboxing. Fitch throwing some decent looking high kicks with relatively little windup. Fitch catches a low kick and drags Pierce down, hits seatbelt and goes for the back ride. Pierce makes it to the fence, stands up and turns Fitch into the cage. Trading clinch knees, and Fitch throws one at Pierce's head as they separate and resume lazy kickboxing. Fitch's eye looks bloody again. Pierce lands a nice 1-2. And again. More lazy kickboxing and Pierce is making some good contact. Fitch ducks under something, hits a takedown into seatbelt, but pierce starts to work his way up right away. Fitch throwing knees from behind while pierce fights the hands. Fitch lands a body knee which elicits an audible grunt from Pierce. Pierce turns fitch around and they press into the fence. Fitch is the captain of the team at AKA, apparently. Round ends iwth sloppy kickboxing and failed takedown attempts. Tough to score, but I'm giving it to Pierce 10-9 on the basis of the heavy punches he landed, so 19-19. Pierce's corner advises him to hit Fitch a bunch. Round 3 starts and both fighters are trying to move forward in striking. Fitch shoots but doesn't get a good grip. They exchange but nobody lands anything good and Pierce digs an underhook and starts fence clinch. Fitch lands a good elbow and some body knees. Joe says that Fitch went and learned some muay thai in Thailand after losing to GSP as Pierce grabs Fitch's crotch and starts kneeing Fitch. Goldberg notes that hard work defeats talent when talent refuses to work hard. Pierce punches Fitch in the face pretty hard a few times but Fitch's chin holds up. Fitch lands a nice long right hand. Then a nice head kick. Under 2 minutes left in round 3 and it's still on the feet. Fitch is winning these striking exchanges. Whiffs on a big uppercut. At 1:30 Fitch shoots and hits it. Fitch finishes the takedown with an ankle pick and steps over to the back, but pierce fights the hands and separates. Pierce lands a good rh-lk combo. Fitch lands a lovely intercepting knee. Pierce lands heavy with some right hands and fitch goes down to a knee. Fitch looks rocked and pierce is coming on strong. Pierce coming forward and throwing strikes to end the round. Both fighters are bloody and raise their hands. Hard round to score again. I was on my way to saying 10-9 Fitch, but then Pierce gets some effective offense in the last minute. I'll go with 10-9 Pierce for the knockdown, but two of these rounds could realistically go either way. Pierce puts on some HITMAN FIGHT GEAR Hayabusa stuff and some lame sunglasses. 29-28 Fitch. Joe still has hair. The only fight replay is of Pierce knocking Fitch down while Fitch is being interviewed as the winner, lol. E. gonna do one more.

590 - 545 = 45 = Pride 28 HIGH OCTANE. 9 fight card. I get 4. Aleksander Emeilianenko vs James Thompson. It's too bad that I can't see the card itself without a spoiler because lol already. The video is only 6:58 long so I'm not skipping any of the walkouts and stuff. Thompson has watched a lot of DVDs on Aleks, and he claims that he's very strong and cross trains everything, and that his biggest strength is that he doesn't give up. He prefers a standup fight with Aleks, that he's ready for anything, and that he predicts a knockout. Mauro (with hair) and Bas talk up how big the brawler Thompson, 6-1, is. They note that Aleks has more pride experience. A good ol' fashioned slugfest. Fightpass doesn't have the walkouts. Thompson with some silly mean mugging. Bas notes that Aleks looks bored. Fedor is hanging out and looks bored too. Bas notes that James Thompson is a debt collector. Thompson attempts what they call "the bum's rush" to start the fight. Emelianenko lands a check hook but falls over getting out of the way of his very large opponent. He pops up and they brawl a bit more. Alecks lands a right hook and Thompson goes down and back up, then another left puts him out. Fight ends at 12 seconds. Fedor smiles. A japanese woman holds aloft a gigantic piece of currency with SKYPERFECTTV on it. Alecks's team is wearing shirts that have nazi-esque eagles on them.

I watched all 14 of Rose's fights (Invicta + TUF) and 15 Andrade fights (All UFC + 1 ProFC) cuz I wanted to do a huge Effort Post with a bunch of clips and GIFs and whatnot to illustrate my points, but my recorder software sucks and the framerate is not good, so here's a bunch of words: Rose Namajunas Vs Emily Kagan (Invicta) Outcome: Win, 3rd round RNC Rose had some issues with Kagan crashing in to secure the clinch, or just back her to the fence. Rose showed some good footwork at times to keep some distance and keep Kagan at range for Rose's longer shots. Rose jumped on a lot of submissions without necessarily securing position first, so she didn't really sink anything. Despite that, Rose tended to maintain control of the grappling exchanges. Vs Kathina Catron (Invicta) Outcome: Win, 1st round flying armbar This fight is literally 12 seconds long. They clinch, Rose sees the opening and jumps on the submission. If you want to find something to critique, it's the outlandishness to even go for a flying armbar, but hey, it worked. Vs Tecia Torres (Invicta) Outcome: Loss, decision Rose was a little inconsistent here. Sometimes, she'd rush in to wild brawling exchanges, other times, she'd just sit back and not throw anything for stretches. She did show off a decent lead left hook, and some good footwork to get away from some exchanges. Rose still over eager on submissions, and her guard passing and ground and pound isn't particularly noteworthy Vs Alex Chambers (TUF) Outcome: Win, 1st round RNC Rose was fairly dominant here, showing off good kicks and nice combos. She didn't immediately jump on the first submission that was barely available, either. The one negative I'd say is that while she had good control in the clinch, her defense when exiting it wasn't the tightest. Vs Joanne Calderwood (TUF) Outcome: Win, 2nd round kimura Going against someone known for their striking, Rose was solid on the feet as well, including her defense at range. She did get stuck in some Thai clinches by Jojo a few times, though, which could have been dangerous. Rose had good takedowns and grappling skills, but once again, went for subs a little too quickly, and ended up in some not great positions a few times. Vs Randa Markos (TUF) Outcome: Win, 1st round kimura Randa opens this fight by charging straight at Rose with a flurry of punches. While Rose did land some good counters during that, she also backed straight up, not angling away from danger. Rose secured a clinch, got a takedown, and as I continue to say, went for subs super quick. No matter, she maintained control and finished the fight. Vs Carla Esparza (Title Fight) Outcome: Loss, 3rd round RNC There's not a lot that Rose did great in this one, other than some good combos. Her takedown defense was severely lacking, she threw a lot of flying/jumping kicks and knees when standing, which surely depleted her stamina, and didn't effectively keep Esparza at distance with straight punches, low kicks or angles. Vs Angela Hill Outcome: Win, 1st round RNC Hill bullied Rose in the clinch the brief moments that they were clinched. Other than that, Rose got a good takedown, passed guard, and was a little more patient before jumping on the choke when Hill tried to get back to her feet. Vs Paige VanZant Outcome: Win, 5th round RNC One of Rose's best performances to date. While she was a little tentative at times with her striking, when Rose did throw, she landed solid combos, defended PVZ's takedown attempts and landed several of her own. Rose showed improved ground and pound, though her top control wasn't always a complete lock down situation. Rose looked for submissions, but showed more patience. Vs Tecia Torres 2 Outcome: Win, decision Rose displayed good movement to avoid the bulk of Tecia's strikes from distance, but did eat several low kicks. Rose lead with her jab a lot against the smaller fighter, but also planted her feet and had some more wild, brawling exchanges. Vs Karolina Kowalkiewicz Outcome: Loss, decision Rose's striking at range looked good, and she threw some solid counters, while also utilizing footwork to find new angles. Despite that, Karolina beat her up in the clinch quite a bit, stuffed a lot of her takedowns, and did some good damage with GnP. Vs Michelle Waterson Outcome: Win, 2nd round RNC Rose's striking at range and in the clinch looked good. She gave up an early takedown, but managed to reverse position fairly well. Rose's footwork to avoid Waterson's kick-heavy offense was good, too. The kick on the break that set up the submission finish was also very nice. Vs Joanna Jedrzejczyk (Title) Outcome: Win, 1st round TKO Aside from just typing THUG ROSE all caps four hundred more times like Cormier, I'll just say that her footwork to slide in and out of range was good and that lead left hook really is nice. Vs Joanna Jedrzejczyk 2 (Title) Outcome: Win, decision Rose's jab, head movement and footwork were all pretty sharp. Despite that, she didn't show much in the way of low kick defense, though that is the tradeoff with some of her other tactics. Rose's lead left hook is still very good, but she was drawn into some wild-looking brawls in the pocket at moments, and Joanna out-worked her in the clinch. Rose Namajunas Final Assessment: Rose's striking is very good, most notably her jab, left hook, front, and high kicks. She has a tendency to got out-worked in the clinch, regardless of if she seeks it out or her opponent does. Her takedown defense isn't bad, but I don't think it's been challenged by a high level wrestler since the Esparza fight. Her grappling is good, though as I've typed 95 times before, she sometimes gets a little to anxious to lock up a submission without necessarily securing position over her opponent first. Jessica Andrade Vs Milana Dudeiva (135lbs) (ProFC) Outcome: Win, 2nd round guillotine Milana backed down Andrade with an opening flurry, but Jessica sat her down with a counter hook. Andrade showed off good submission defense, but didn't have a terribly active guard. Vs Liz Carmouche (135lbs) Outcome: Loss, 2nd round TKO I know it was the only division at the time, but it's still crazy to think Andrade fought at bantamweight 7 times. She's so little! Anyway, Carmouche was getting takedowns at will, but Andrade Just Stood Up a couple of times, which was nice. Jessica's hooks, even up 2 weight classes have some good power behind them, but ultimately, she got controlled on the ground and couldn't defend from GnP. Vs Rosi Sexton (135lbs) Outcome: Win, decision As is to be expected with such a height disparity (which exists basically any time Andrade fights anyone), Sexton didn't have to work too terribly hard to secure a Thai clinch and land some good knees. Other than that, Rosi didn't have much of anything for Andrade, who beat the hell out of her with big, swarming hooks. Rosi basically grew another forehead during this fight and somebody deserves to be fired for not stopping it. Vs Raquel Pennington (135lbs) Outcome: Win, decision Pennington had success with straight punch combos and clinch knees against Andrade. Jessica's hooks, which helped her close distance, lead to some big takedowns and throws, though Andrade had a little trouble keeping Raquel down, at least early in the fight. Vs Larissa Pacheco (135lbs) Outcome: Win, 1st round guillotine Andrade's swarming tactics worked again, as other than some straight punches on the way in, Pacheco didn't offer up a ton of resistance. Takedown, GnP, jump on a guillotine, bim, bam, boom. Vs Marion Reneau (135lbs) Outcome: Loss, 1st round triangle Andrade dropped Reneau with punches, but dove into guard a little too quickly, getting cinched up in a triangle. And of course, if I can talk about Rose going for subs too early all the time, I can mention that Andrade got hit with some solid straight punches and clinch knees as she tried to work her way in close. Vs Sarah Moras (135lbs) Outcome: Win, decision While not as one-sided a beatdown as the Sexton fight, Moras mostly survived because Andrade was too smart to get into guard (Huh, maybe that Reneau bout just a fight ago might have had something to do with that). Jessica landed some big power punches, hit a big takedown and mostly just let Sarah back up, unless she landed in a clearly dominant top position. Sarah did nearly get a submission late, but I think she was too battered to really sink anything of substance. Vs Raquel Pennington 2 (135lbs) Outcome: Loss, 2nd round RNC It's another Andrade bantamweight fight, so that means there were swarming hooks, but this time Andrade threw some good low kicks. Rocky again did good damage from the clinch, but got taken down. Ultimately, Andrade was a touch sloppy trying to get back to standing and left an opening for Raquel to jump on her back for the choke. Vs Jessica Penne Outcome: Win, 2nd round TKO Andrade was a loving buzzsaw here. She walked down Penne, landing huge hooks to the body and head, then Penne would half-heartedly reach for a clinch, land a knee, keep getting blasted with hooks to the body and then separate and then the cycle would repeat. This was the most Lady Lineker of Andrade's performances so far (Though the Sexton fight is close) Vs Joanne Calderwood Outcome: Win, 1st round guillotine choke Jojo didn't even use clinch knees too much, she just landed some solid knees to the body as Andrade was coming in. That's about it, though. Andrade got takedowns, passed guard, landed GnP and then when Joanne showed an opening, Jessica cinched the guillotine Vs Angela Hill Outcome: Win, decision Hill had decent success with clinch work, and she stayed on her feet more than I expected (Both when I originally saw the fight live and now on my rewatch). Despite that, Andrade's swarming hooks were too much. Vs Joanna Jedrzejczyk (Title) Outcome: Loss, decision I'll get the good stuff out of the way first. The punches that Andrade did manage to land definitely looked like they hurt, considering the lumps that grew on Joanna's face that night. Jessica's big slams looked impressive, but she couldn't keep Joanna down for any length of time with them. Now, the bad. Joanna beat up Jessica from range with jabs and low kicks, eventually extending out to longer combos and high kicks. Then she beat Jessica up in the clinch with knees and elbows, and throughout the entire fight, Andrade couldn't cut angles on Joanna, she just trailed after her. Vs Claudia Gadelha Outcome: Win, decision Claudia had a few brief moments of success in this fight, mostly at the beginning when she landed some straight punches. Most of the rest of it, though, was Andrade Protocol: Chase opponent, wing big hooks, slam opponent to hell, Ground and Pound, jump on arm-in guillotine that rarely works but why not try it again this time. Vs Tecia Torres Outcome: Win, decision Torres fought most of this fight on her back foot, retreating and throwing a strike or two at a time as Andrade finally showed slightly better footwork than just following in someone's footsteps. Andrade's hooks and takedowns won her this fight. Also, fun fact: You can see Amanda Nunes and Nina Ansaroff cageside standing up to yell instructions to Tecia during this one. They aren't in her corner, they just have front row seats and want to help their friend. Vs Karolina Kowalkiewicz Outcome: Win, 1st round KO The only difference between this fight and 90% of the others here is that Karolina was brave or stupid enough to stand her ground and trade with Andrade for more than 0.5 seconds. Lights out Jessica Andrade Final Assessment: Jessica Andrade wants to throw hooks into your face and body and head and ribs and face and body and face and head and body and there isn't a whole lot out there that I've seen that can dissuade her from that goal. If she wants to change things up, she'll just hurl an opponent into the canvas, look to land ferocious ground and pound (Especially the times she just wails on someone's stomach), and if the opponent isn't careful when trying to get up or make space, Andrade will latch on to a guillotine with The Quickness. As for negatives, I've said it for every fight, but at 5'2" or, I guess, now 5'1.5", she's extremely height disadvantaged, so Andrade will get hit with jabs on the way in. And when she does get in, it's pretty easy to go for a Thai plum and look for knees to the body and head. Her footwork and ability to cut off the cage or angle off a retreating opponent is barely there. She mostly relies on either stalking long enough to catch you, or to put on a quick burst to close space and start throwin those bungalows. Rose Namajunas vs Jessica Andrade Assessment: Rose's movement worked against Joanna because it reset distances. Jessica will just keep moving forward. Rose will need to rely on her jab and front kicks, and anything else up the middle (Uppercuts, maybe a flying knee wouldn't be completely insane) since Jessica will be coming from the sides with hooks. Young Rose was out-worked by Carla and got tired. I don't know if Colorado Rose will have the same issues, but again, she hasn't fought anyone since Carla that will look for a double or single leg. Waterson, PVZ and Torres tend to use head and arm throws or trips out of the clinch to get the fight down. Rose hasn't really had success in the clinch against most of her opponents (Flying armbars notwithstanding), and most people only clinch with Andrade in the hopes that it will stop the hooks (It doesn't, it just means she throws exclusively to the body as an opponent pokes at her with knees). I'm not sure how a ground fight plays out. If Andrade is on top, her GnP is a problem, but if she's looking to pass, or even posture up, that could give Rose enough of an opening for a submission. If Rose gets on top, I think she's finally more measured with her attacks, but Andrade's strong enough that she might Just Stand Up.

I started messing around with google sheets today and I might be able to pull off a sheet which spits out a random UFC fight and hides the spoilers....

I often watch UFC events weeks after they happen and would really appreciate the ability to know which fights (especially the non main events) are the best. Is there anywhere that has spoiler free ratings of fights?

I've successfully made a google sheet which will spit out a random UFC fight and randomize the order of the fighters to hide spoilers. It's not perfect - it fucks up if it randomly selects an ultimate fighter finale or otherwise strangely-formatted card because those pages have a different layout on wikipedia - but... it is still decent! Riki Fukuda Tom DeBlass Ilir Latifi Ovince Saint Preux Brock Lesnar Cain Velasquez Chris de la Rocha Adam Milstead Ian Heinisch Cezar Ferreira Colby Covington Dong Hyun Kim Darren Uyenoyama Norifumi Yamamoto Anthony Perosh Mirko Cro Cop Once I get past the alpha test phase I'll share it. Does anyone have a suggestion for a list of fights which has a more consistent layout than wikipedia? This is my first foray into XML scraping, so I'm still learning as I go.

cheers for the discussions, this is basically what i was hoping this thread would be more of rather than me posting random z-league events

Didn't pick it entirely randomly but I'm watching a fight so I'm going to post about it: Rafael Cavalcante vs. Yoel Romero Palacio Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Kharitonov This is Romero's 4th pro fight and his first loss. First round is the dullest round I've ever seen. Romero did nothing other than kick Feijao in the nuts. Crowd is booing. I skipped past the pre-fight chatter, so I don't know how they're framing the fighters, but they do mention Romero's wrestling cred and Feijao's past-champ status. Second round Romero does his patented explosion but Feijao survives and Romero slows down. Feijao catches Romero with an outside trip late in the round. Strikeforce fights don't have a round timer, which is frustrating. They go back to staring. Feijao throws a right high kick, which Romero ducks, but Feijao spins straight through into a backfist onto the jaw which stuns Romero. Feijao chases Romero across the ring as Romero goes down and pops back up and gets knocked down again, and he lands some solid ground shots. Romero goes a bit limp for a second and the ref stops it, but even then Romero is starting to get engaged again. I feel as if Whittaker had Romero more hurt a couple of times in their fights, but vOv. Romero doesn't protest the stoppage. Bas screams so hard that his mic clips. Terrible fight with an exciting finish. If you watch it, skip the first round entirely. The actual ref's stoppage is in that space where I wouldn't call it a bad stoppage, but some might, especially knowing after the fact what the fighters are capable of.

Random fight time! I first rolled Silva-Brunson, gently caress that. I then rolled Stann-Cantwell III and... I almost said gently caress that, but then I looked for it on Fightpass, and it didn't actually appear so I said screw it. I then rolled José Aldo vs Alexandre Franca Nogueira. Let's do this! Alexandre Nogueira is pretty handsome in his head shot. Nice hair. Aldo is young - this is his WEC debut I think: just 21! Aldo just appearing as a jiu jitsu fighter. He looks really slim. He's eager to get going. He winks at the camera. Mazzagatti is the ref. They touch up. Aldo enters his familiar stance and they circle a bit. Aldo throws first with a 1-2 but Alex nog slips inside of it and circles out. A shoots and Aldo sprawls and barely misses with a knee. Frank Mir is explaining what Luta Livre is (apparently Nog is a Luta Livre guy?). Crowd boos and Aldo pushes in with a flurry. Alex gets in on a low single and Aldo steps out with his classic defense. Aldo digs a savage body hook. THUMP. Alex is backing up. Aldo is doing a good job of cutting off the cage. Crowd is restless. Aldo lands a good uppercut in a flurry again. Circle circle. 1:30 left. Alex lunges forward and Aldo casually sidesteps his forward movement. Aldo lands a big uppercut and it staggers Alex, but Alex gets in on a single again. Aldo works his way out. Leg kick at the clapper. This fight is a really good example of what "Footwork" is and what it does. Aldo's is good, but not sublime in that way that you see with good boxers where it becomes so subtle that you can't see it, and Alex's is nonexistant, so you can see the advantages that good fotwork create. Round 2 starts uch the same. Alex lunges in on some singles but they don't get there. Frank Mir claims that Aldo is using a different tape measure because he's taller than his opponent but both are 5'7" on paper. Aldo lands a good body shot which has Alex visibly effected. Alex gets in on a single again, and gets on the hips, but again Aldo works his way out. And again, and he lands a great right hand on the exit. Aldo pushing forward. Crowd booing while Aldo beats his opponent up. Mir calls it a one-sided boxing match. Alex goes for a bad single, Aldo stuffs it, and Alex sits down. Aldo gets on top and beats Alex bloody with savage elbows and punches while continually passing the guard. Mazzagatti is not doign anything. Just kinda hanging out as Aldo breaks his guy's face. Finally steps in. Aldo by 2nd round tko. Frank Mir questions whether it's an early stoppage. Maybe Tan Dan saw this fight and heard Mir's comments ahead of the Carwin fight. Aldo does a back flip off the cage. Aldo far more energetic and animated at 21 than he is in his UFC days - dancing, flexing etc.

One more: Tom Blackledge Anthony Perosh UFC 127. Video doesn't incldue walkouts. Fightpass cuts straight to Tale of the Tape and Buffer. Blackledge is repping Wolfslair MMA. Crowd gives a big pop to Perosh, so this must be an Aussie card. John Sharp, who looks like Powder, is reffing. The Hippo vs The Juggernaut. Perosh opens by standing upright and throwing a few strikes. Rogan notes that Perosh has a chin, which we learned when Cro Cop beat him up on short notice. Perosh goes for a shot and gets in on the leg but Blackledge sprawls and ladns some elbows. Perosh gets up and Blackledge throws a head kick and falls down when it's blocked. Blackledge does some kinda dumb little jump who the gently caress knows. Perosh rushes in with a flurry and connects, then ducks under a Blackledge counter to get the single. Blackledge goes for a guillotine and Perosh just pulls the hips in and postures up. He stards landing some good shots. Blackledge throws up some legs for a sub but doesn't get anything. Perosh settles down into a pressure pass and gets to mount. Blackledge goes face down and gets an RNC for his trouble. I don't see a tap but the ref steps in and there are no complaints. One of the replay angles shows the tap. Joe Silva's there! On the replay we can see some gross drool come out of Blackledge's mouth after Perosh releases the hold. Crowd is happy for the Aussie. Joe Rogan still has hair.

Random Fight Time TUF 6 Finale: Mac Danzig vs Tommy Speer https://www.ufc.tv/video/mac-danzig-vs-tommy-speer-tuf-6-finale This is a throwback because I remember watching this live on SpikeTV back in 2007. Mostly because a friend was going mental at the TV over the Huerta/Guida fight. Anyway, video starts at the pre-fight hype talk between Goldie & Rogan who discuss the two Team Hughes competitors. Then the video packages for the two Welterweight finalists begin, we can skip this part. Walk outs begin with Tommy Speer using generic 2000s Alt-Metal (probably due to copyright avoidance on Fight Pass' part). Speer is hyped as the dominant wrestler who is "huge for 170lbs". Danzig comes out to equally royalty free Alt-Metal music. Danzig is hailed as the favorite in the whole of TUF6 and his career is discussed. Danzig had fought Sakurai in PRIDE FC a while before TUF6. His vegan roots are also brought up as well. Tale of the Tape comes up and we see that Speer is younger, larger by 2 inches, and has a 1 inch reach advantage to boot over the smaller but more seasoned Danzig. Buffer does his thing to get us started. Speer comes in with a 9-1 record, where as Danzig sports a 17-4-1 record, and Gray Maynard is spotted in his corner along with someone who I wanna say is definitely Andy Wang. Yves Lavigne is our referee for the contest. Round 1 begins - Speer comes out with his right hand cocked and ready to let go and uses the threat of it to pressure Danzig close to the fence. Once Danzig is in that position, Speer immediately attempts a take down just 10 seconds into the fight but Danzig forces the clinch. The two exchange short knees and pummel for control. Speer definitely looks the larger and more aggressive of the two but Danzig is able to change levels and get a double leg takedown. Danzig spends little time in the side position and secures full mount and begins to tee off on Speer's head and rib cage. Speer's attempts to escape only see Danzig lay on more pressure with the punches before Speer gives up his back and Danzig locks in his legs for the hooks while fishing for the neck. Danzig sneaks the arm under the neck and throws punches to distract Speer's hands before securing the RNC and easily forces the submission. Danzig emerges victorious in less than half a round with an absolute dominant performance. Danzig is awarded the TUF trophy and contract, Hughes congratulates him and Danzig would go on to spend the next six years in the UFC before retiring citing accumulated brain damage before making a return to MMA in 2017.
