That "I found the real Sayuri and will sell it to you" plan seems like it'd fall apart way too easily, even if someone did believe him. You don't buy a piece of art so that no one will look at it. Eventually people will start talking about how they bought Sayuri copies from Madarame. Also, it's good to see Yusuke doesn't stay horrible.

Ann was the most mediocre party member imo. Her skillset gets very SP heavy very fast, her healing drops off pretty much instantly, the other things she does are situational enough that I'd rather have Joker handle them, and by the time she gets good again you'll be used to a different party setup.

I want to like Youske as a player character...but his luck is too low for a crit build (And there is no way to -permanently- increase party member stats ala Insense from SMT proper), his later skills are too situational and he's outclassed by Kanji 2.0 as a physical dealer. At best, he's good for ice-weak enemies and a secondary physical fighter. Sorry Youske, get your artsy rear end to the bench, I'll supply the paint for your art, but you ain't seeing a lot of combat.

To be fair, the Sayuri is portrayed as a masterwork of art on the level of say, the Mona Lisa. Famous artwork is stolen and sold on the black market with some relative frequency, and definitely not to the kind of people who are going to pull a Ryuji and start yelling loudly about how they bought it. Madarame may also be slightly simplifying his explanation - it makes perfect sense for him to be cranking out "originals" and fencing them through a third party. He's already admitted to laundering his wealth through a mistress, so the extent of his various scams is likely much broader than what we hear now.

Now I heard (and this may not be entirely accurate) but apparently Madarame's scheme is based on something that happened to the Mona Lisa. Essentially, some theives stole it and copied it, then, while the museum put out a copy for the public, they sold the copies under the guise of being the real ones and begging the buyers not to tell. Or something like that, my memory's kind of fuzzy so if anyone would want to correct it feel free.

Old Japan has some fairly distinctive hairstyles, but of course Shadow Madarame takes everything up to 12. I found that Yusuke was better than Ryuji. Yusuke gets Tempest Slash in the mid game, and Myriad Slashes later on, which always seemed to let him do significantly more damage than Ryuji's Assault Dive and Megaton Hit, even on a minimal number of hits. I don't know why it worked out that way, but I often used Ryuji, Yusuke and someone else for all the buffs, so I had a good amount of data to work with. Of course, Ryuji has much better multi-target physical skills.

Then again, it might make sense considering how Persona!Goemon is portrayed here and could be a kind of mirror between Youske and his persona. Shadow Madarame is top of the food chain, wearing that ever so gaudy loving kimono. Goemon on the other hand looks how you would think a thief back then would. Also personally, I had a party consisting of Joker, Morgana, Ryuji (Who can break four digits end-game with Charge+Tarukaja+Physical Skill on single targets) and one or two of the future party members we'll see.

This is a little outside the realm of normal gameplay, but I've been chain-running NG+ in a pipe-dream attempt to get every romantic confidant 's extra item. Once you have everyone kitted out in full endgame gear and you're going for pure speed and power, Yusuke really shines, with the second best attack power and a heavy speed boost to boot. Throw a huge luck accessory on him to tie it all together and he ends up doing a lot of heavy lifting for me as I blow through dungeons ASAP.

Goemon's design really screams "Kabuki actor, but on steroids and 250% more gaudy". That said, I've been so used to the old Legend of the Mystical Ninja design from back in the 90s that it is a bit jarring to suddenly see Goemon as he looks here.

Shadow Madarame isn't dressed like a shogun so much as he's dressed like an actor playing a shogun, hence the makeup and hair. Just like Kamoshida's absurd bathtowel-cape king outfit. Maybe it's intended to underline the fact that these self-images are just shoddy facades; Kamoshida can play pretend at being a king all day, but even inside his own mind he knows he's a fake loser lording it over high-school students.

Small thing that really impressed extra on me how much of a dick Madarame is. When Yusuke asks 'How many did you trample upon?', Madarame just rubs his chin, in a thoughtful expression and then gets a poo poo-eating grin on his face.

A small complaint I have about this game is that you can't start social links for new party members from Yusuke on until you beat the dungeon they're introduced in, the target having a public change of heart and everything. It kind of sucks to get a new party member and have them not be able to do stuff like having the baton passed to them.

Much as I love Mercer, I'm not the hugest fan of his performance here, with the exception of the Awakening scene. His Goemon voice is amazing. I used Yusuke a fair bit in my team. I personally benched Morganna at this point and only used him as an SP source to heal the rest of the team without cutting into my personal resources.

Oh, haven’t I told you? My parents are both fashion designers who put on some seriously extravagant shows.My perception of this character is flying into loving orbit. This is somehow even less relatable than Rise or Naoto from 4. They jump from country to country, so I only really see them for half of the year. ...Maybe less these days.Sounds like a Persona protagonist in the making! That’s why I need to get stronger! I sense a heightened motivation from Ann... When I was little, I used to watch this anime where the main villain was this female thief. She’d lose to the hero every time, but I always thought she was cool. She wasn’t really a “good” person per se… But she was beautiful, strong, sincere, and even sexy. She always said whatever she wanted, did whatever she wanted… She knew what justice was for her. I… wanted to grow up to be just like her someday. I read somewhere that using the Parthenon as an example of the Golden Ratio in architecture is terrible, since any time it's used as an example either some of the steps or part of the roof are ignored. Of course that could be completely inaccurate too, and it is a good example. I don't know.

I would've thought the "no nude paintings" line would lead to them sticking up for Ann, but it just leads to more 'wacky' dialogue. Oh well, at least we can put that part of the story behind us and appreciate the fact that Yusuke has a pretty cool finisher wallpaper. Arist posted:
