It would be nice to have the spec bump CPUs come out concurrently with B550 motherboards hitting the market. I want to see the glorious performance per watt per dollar decision tables that will be floating around.

I’ve picked up used Asrock AB350 itx board locally that seller double pinkie sweared was running 3600 before. The plan was to bios flash it into b450. My 3600xt makes it stuck in boot loop and I don’t have any older chip to find out what the actual bios version is currently flashed. Question 1: is it likely XT requires a different version of bios than 3600 to boot? Question 2: is there a secret source for old gen 1 or a10/8/6 am4 chips on the cheap? Local market is pretty bare and eBay typical listings with shipping to Canada would cost more than the board itself.

bus hustler posted:The AB350-itx does not seem to list support for the 3x00xt processors: They list support under the latest bios revision tab, which kinda answers my own question.

MSI also has “memory try it” (tm) in the bios menu with a drop down list of safe settings at different speeds. You can use it to quickly try different settings. Pretty good chance it goes higher that 2666 right away, then you can tighten some timings down manually if needed.
