I was going to but I got warned off by ASRock's little message about how I really shouldn't if my system is already stable and given all the horror stories I've read so far about this brand new spanking architecture I kind of held off. I might just do that now though.

I updated to 1002 on the Crosshair Hero VI and it wouldn't boot from full shutdown anymore after that :gonk:

Reflashed back to 9002 until I have more troubleshooting time.

I want 16 cores that all run at 5.0ghz though.

No. A hundred cores.

Man I want more TR. My next build is almost definitely going to be a threadripper line.

We just passed the 14th quarter of continuous decline in all tablet sales. Apple's highest quarter for iPad sales, their first quarter of fiscal 2014, saw just over 26 million iPads sold. Their first quarter of fiscal 2018 saw 13.17 million sold.

The idea of catching up to a market in ongoing collapse is a bit funny.

I think it's more saturation than collapse, but yeah. People don't usually replace the tablets every other year like with phones. The future market isn't going to be what it was until something else revolutionary happens. Hologram tablets or something, I dunno. I don't think Intel and AMD are losing sleep over this in particular.

Because we're in the SERIOUS hardware / software crap sub-forum and there is no place for sense of humours here. Everything has to be hard silicon performance numbers and overclocking is mandatory otherwise you're a FAS baby.

A while back I remember a goon linking one of the videos ranting about how they shouldn't give terrible advice to people, and the video literally starts off with "the proper way to do this is *describes professional backup server* but this is Linus Tech Tips so we're going to do THIS instead."

And somehow people don't get it.

The last third is google, desperately, in the hopes that someone else has already done the legwork and documented it in detail, only to find a post from 2006 that details your exact problem right down to reproducability, and then has "edit: nm i fixed it" appended to the bottom, with no further posts from that account thereafter.

Triggering my PTSD and I’m not even in IT.

Knowing Intel it'll be something dopey like the i7 is 10C but has hyperthreading disabled and then they screw up the rest of the lineup to follow (8C16T would beat 10C10T so it needs to be gone there too, etc etc). The only way I see the math working is if they just straight-up make the i7 10C20T, any other configuration they're just handing AMD this generation and probably next generation too.
The HT-less i7s will be branded "Security Edition" or some poo poo.

I mean, "I want my processor to run faster but have no idea what I'm doing and absolutely no interest in learning how to do it, here's some money so someone can do it for me" is a thing, I guess.

Yeah, basing stock predictions on things like technical merits of a product and understanding of the manufacturing mistakenly assumes stock markets are rational constructs.
