I mostly like japanese watches so I figured out how to navigate the japanese sites for seiko/casio/citizen and I mostly buy on ebay or rakuten there's 10000 watch blogs but most of them focus on swiss things I'm mostly not interested in or a the same 5 affordable automatic brands. I haven't really been buying watches in the last year since I'm planning a trip to glorious nippon where I will drown myself in affordable quartz magnificence

make no mistake though nobody should actually buy that watch I posted since it's a $2000 casio and I'm pretty sure people would irl make fun of you for owning it

i doubt it because no one will know it's a $2000 casio unless you tell them

all of the british exchange students have laptops with some kind of weirdass keyboard where the enter is twice the height, the quotation mark is on the 2, the left shift is teeny tiny and there's another key beside it, and a few other things that make them Extremely Bad Tech. my typing is completely hosed up whenever i try to show them some code or w/e

what's the loving point of having a double-height enter key anyway. were people having trouble hitting the normal one??

I always assumed that big or oddly shaped enter keys were there to take up extra space on the keyboard for when keys are missing/not in the usual place.

w/e the standard american qwerty layout is is the correct one. like the full-size version with a windows key, the home cluster, all that poo poo. its optimal

Sagebrush
Feb 26, 2012

agreed

i do think the apple layout for the modifiers is better, though. primary modifier (cmd/ctrl) should be under your thumbs, beside the space bar. secondary (option/alt) beside that. the outermost key should be reserved for things that are rarely used (ctrl/win).

actually i kinda wonder whether i use alt or win more often. alt is more common as a modifier obv but i hit win and win+d and win+e all the time

The ANSI standard, as is always the case, is superior to the equivalent ISO trash

yeah iso layouts are always garbage and i dont know how people tolerate them day in and day out

the one thing i dont like about my iigs keyboard is the stupid L return key when it has ` and \ all crammed on the bottom row. just make spacebar bigger and move one of those above return so it doesnt have to be so clownshoes

this is how you should be doing it

euro keyboard is also better than british because british maps £ to shift-3 and # to alt-3 (instead of vice-versa)

alt + space inserts a non-breaking space which fucks up you're are commenting when typing "# "

took me a couple of years of loving up all my comments before i figured that one out

people will always defend what they've grown up with, so good luck with getting an american to agree that double-height enter key is the best

but since all of europe's layouts use double-height i guess that's the variant that's most common..(?)
