too bad blair left the party in such bad shape huh?

there are actually competent people in the party but they've all headed for the hills or are running for lord mayor of asschester or whatnot because it was obvious after corbyn won that the party was heading for 1983 part II. all the political opportunities are in the rebuilding afterwards, not the futile infighting to try to stop it and then the possible loss of your seat when it happens. gonna be a whole lot of vulnerable tory seats in 2021 when brexit has blown up in their face

Ed Miliband has been retroactively declared centrist scum i guess despite having been the more left-wing upset winner over his brother in the 2010 leadership fight. by 2020 labour members are gonna be moaning about how corbyn's milktoast third-wayism cost them the election and how only lenin's embalmed corpse has the proper credentials to lead labour to victory

No, he just thinks that the base is stupid for not sucking the dick of sell-out corporate candidates, who actively despise the base & the policies they want. It's telling that the policies Corbyn released actually have majority support, and they're all a break from blairite policies of the past.

But Corbyn personally isn't a great speaker with of lot of charisma or whatever, he was a soft-spoken backbencher without much ambition. The other issue is the migrant panic, which hasn't and won't go away for a long time, and is now currently pushing France towards Le Pen. The default stance on that issue has I think decisively shifted right, in a pretty big way.

So even if Brexit makes the economy go south, I don't think the conservatives are going to suffer much from it, because the dominant force behind leave was never about economic efficiency, but immigrants & the way migrant workers have been demonized for the effects of austerity and such.

So even if people want higher minimum wage and poo poo, they won't vote labor because migrants.

Why does all the media outlets seem to hate Corbyn anyway? Even The Guardian hates him.

Is it just because he's a socialist? His policies seem pretty sensible on paper.

Because him, the people around him, and especially the new membership that voted for him are just about the worst possible advocates for their own policies.

In that case they should probably consider making some changes, the polls are not looking great for them.

Obviously doesn't help that a lot of ill informed workers are voting for the rich people to screw them over, due to their misguided fears of immigrants. Seems like just some basic history lessons would make them realize how silly it is to just blame the immigrants.

Yes.

If Jezza and friends were more charismatic and relatable, then that would only amplify the terror of him - and the media environment would become even more nasty. The Guardian is owned by a private trust company. The entire British media takes their marching orders from people who are violently opposed to any genuine socialist advocacy.

They tried this at the worst possible time, when the government collapsed and probably could have been forced into an early election they might have lost their majority in, when they ran some nobody who lobbied for dick pills. Some people voted for Corbyn as a gently caress you to the PLP over that, some voted for him because they genuinely believed in his policies. We are stuck with him until he goes.

A lot of it is about immigrants but there is a big big part of the working class everywhere that thinks their bosses are right to be where they are, and if they apply themselves they can be too. In some cases they are right, in others they are not. The challenge for Labour has always been to convince working class tories they can have a good, productive, enriching future if they vote Labour, instead of just getting taxed and red taped into oblivion (which has actually happened under the Conservatives this time but that kind of legislative chicanery is unsexy to talk about).

fake news didnt make corbyn put a 3 line whip on brexit, he's insanely incompetent and 'biased lamestream media' is just as much of an excuse here as it is when everyone else uses it

There was one named Jo Cox, but she was murdered.

edit: i should note that i don't think this was a conspiracy or anything, the murderer was a far-right racist:

Cox was singled out for attack as a "passionate defender" of the European Union and immigration. Mair viewed the Labour MP as "one of 'the collaborators' [and] a traitor" to white people.

The court heard testimony that during the attack, Mair had cried out "This is for Britain" as well as "keep Britain independent" and "Britain first"

Oh i guess the guillotine was also leftist, but somehow i doubt that a ukipper wants to use it on the bourgeoisie.

Looks like there's still hope that May will screw this up:

British PM May refuses to rule out personal tax hikes after election

"The top-selling Sun newspaper splashed "No, No, No Prime Minister" on its front page while the Daily Telegraph said the prime minister risked a backlash, as the normally supportive newspapers attacked May's early campaign steps."
