would someone explain to a mere colonial why labour hates corby so much? Is it that his policies are too far left for the corporate shills or because he has the knives out for Blair?

It's also worth noting that old social democratic parties in Europe are all incredibly rigid and hierarchical. Labour had gotten used to the way things went in the previous decades, everyone knew the rules and what to expect. There were turns and orders and steps to take. Most of Corbyn's career has been spent on the sidelines of the Labour party, a corner that was just roundly ignored. See the Blair quote about him during the nineties. What Corbyn essentially did by appealing to the membership was cut in line and mess up a lot of plans. Not only did he prevent the Next In Line from getting a shot at the big leagues, he also rendered the whole old process of getting ahead within the party useless - all those influential party members, kingmakers, etc felt the power slip from their fingers.

And not only did he get in without playing by the rules, he most likely changed the way the entire game was played. Now they too have to appeal to the public, now they have to shift to the left, now they have to come out of the back offices and face the sunshine. Can't imagine the past pillars of the party being too happy about that.

Thanks for clarifying, I didn't realize he upset the applecart in that way

If you compare the Scots to the irish they were basically enablers of the English swamp pigs, kept fed and fat while they fought all our wars while we tried to flat out exterminate the Irish on more than one occasion.

The Irish also fought for almost a hundred years in a brutal war of Independence against an overwhelming and cruel foe.
The Scots had to tick a box for Independence and didn't do it after 400 years of bitching.

I like Scotland as a country v much but they are quislings lol

A good recent example of why the US is better than the U.K. is our respective political catastrophes last year.

Millions more American voted for trump's opponent than for him, but the British really did choose brexit.

Another obvious one is how we elected / re-elected a black man named Barack Hussein Obama as president, while it's only ever been white people at the top in Britain.

Just compare recent election outcomes:

We had Reagan you had Thatcher, Thatcher was worse.
We had Clinton, you had some other Tory and Blair, whom you guys hate. Clinton was better.
We had Bush Jr you had Blair, who was his lapdog, a tie.
We got Obama you picked that pig-fucker, big win for America.

Britain has always been down at the bottom with Australia in the rankings, good and bad developments are what determines who currently is the worst.
