Earth Angel is one of those movies where things would have probably turned out the same without the main character. Angela has to use her ghost powers to break up Cindy and Mike but Cindy only started dating Mike because Angela pushed her to. Similarly Cindy's mom didn't seem like she needed a lot of help in seeing that Duke was a d-bag. I guess you could say that the ultimate goal was to show Angela that she was wrong but the afterlife shouldn't be dragging other people into her (after)life lesson.

They only play teenagers for the opening, then there's a time skip to "modern" day and they play characters more their age.

Trace and Frank do their livestreams over Zoom so it works but it can still end up with awkward moments like stepping on each others lines or just random technical issues.

A goofy thing about the new riff, Maximum Revenge, is that there are multiple characters in prison jumpsuits but for some reason only the (buff) main character has short sleeves.

I watched their riff of Hanger 18 the other day. What a weird movie. Like why did the government cut out the astronauts who actually saw the spaceship? Also apparently there's an alternate ending, which makes sense for how the ending they have is just voice over on top of a static image.

It feels like a movie that is working toward a twist ending where it only happened on their island and the rest of the world is fine (thus making the conflict moot) but nope.

It is such a weird movie because there are definitely scenes that are supposed to be goofy but other times the "horror" is played straight. Also there are just really serious continuity issues. Like a scene where a character gets attacked and starts bleeding from his wrist and ankle, scene transition and he's wearing different clothes and just has an injury on his ankle.

As stupid as it sounds the movie actually does try to justify the mushroom pulling wrestling moves.

Speaking of VODs, I'm watching "A Word to the Wives" which is a short about fancy modern kitchens and something that's absolutely bonkers is how scrawny all the wives are. (Also it stars a young Darren McGavin)

Watching the Invaders from Mars riff and man, that's a dark movie. While it happens off screen the Martians totally murder a little girl. Then on camera they kill two more people who were taken over.

New riff, The Minion, a religious horror movie starring Dolph Lundgren as a priest who fights evil discovered by some MTA goons in a tunnel. Also features the world's worst archeologist who discovers an ancient artifact has a hollow back so the first thing she does is pry it open with a knife.

Especially since I just watched the twenty years later and much shittier Hawk the Slayer.
