He also did the soundtrack for Hannibal and that was one of the things that made the show for me. I don't really care about Reitzell's original music (it's not bad it's just serviceable) but the man has amazing tarantino-like powers of picking the perfect songs off a shelf for a scene. Every classical song he picked out for Hannibal felt like an essay of characterization, communicated in the language of music the way you or I would write in English. Other people will not know, because not everyone read Sandman nor mythology books nor do they look up the Wikipedia article for Wednesday. It's a narrow mind that expects everyone else to know all the same things and have the same experiences as oneself.

Now that the episode has aired everywhere I can share some stuff from the Q&A I attended which I already posted in the other thread. Fuller, Green and Gaiman were on the panel along with Mousa Kraish (the Jinn) and Omid Abthai (Salim). It was hosted by GLAAD for what should be obvious reasons now. Mousa, who plays the Jinn, watched gay porn and called up gay friends to ask them about accurately portraying gay intercourse. When it came time to shoot, the director told Mousa and Omid how to act and Mousa got to use his new knowledge to correct the director on sexual positions. The dong was originally going to be 11 inches. The production designer started with that, not conceiving that anyone would want it to be a different size. Mousa and Omid knew each other before this show because middle eastern actors basically all know each other. They were extremely grateful they got to play middle eastern men who weren't terrorists or sidekicks. Steve Yun fucked around with this message at 22:11 on May 15, 2017 |

What would be unfilmable about Sandman? The changes in scenario and budgetary limitations haven't been a huge roadblock for Dr Who. The main issue would be the narrative weirdness of a main character who barely shows up in 5% of most stories. It's a lot to ask of new viewers, but maybe after building up a name with American Gods, future audiences will be more willing to give Sandman a gamble. Mameluke posted:edit: As much as I love Hannibal, I wish Bryan Fuller et al. had used that one Manhunter tiger scene shot from the Manhunter/Red Dragon moviefight thread. I'm on mobile right now but the OP commented on one shot that really emphasized how jealous Francis was of the tiger's virility. It's a fantastic shot, but I think the TV series wanted to achieve something different. In the film, Francis is struggling with self-loathing (demonstrated by him being jealous of both the vet and the tiger) while simultaneously experiencing love. In the TV show I think they wanted his budding romance with Reba to be more positive at first (TV Francis jizzes his pants when TV Reba touches TV tiger's tooth, giving him hope that he doesn't have to be ashamed of his mouth anymore) and then yanked away from him later. Tigren posted:What the gently caress TV show are you talking about? Is it American Gods? Tigren posted:Is there not a Hannibal thread? Sometimes if you follow a discussion thread, there are these things called tangents, when an off-topic discussion occurs. It might be a frightening concept for some readers because it looks like the discussion they were following has disappeared from in front of their very eyes. Readers should not be concerned as tangents are usually harmless and temporary, and within a couple posts the original discussion will return. This concept may be particularly difficult to grasp for those who are still developing object permanence. Think of it like the commercial break that happens several times during your television programming; much like your original television program returning after a minute of commercials, discussion of the main topic will be back soon after a couple posts, no need to worry.
