I read the book years and years ago and honestly don't remember a whole lot, but this felt good. Real good. Weirder than I thought it would be, but at the same time just as weird as it should be. Probably.

Assorted thoughts: Some of the effects looked a little cheap. Audrey's scene was great. I don't know if it's just my soundbar's settings, but I felt like the dialogue was kinda hard to pick out at times. Technical Boy was a lot of fun to see.

One more thing I liked: In the viking prologue, once the fighting starts, you can see the arm holding the sword breaking the letterboxed frame. Fun little touch.

Anyone among the book readers who tried picking up coin tricks after reading American Gods?

I should try learning those tricks again properly.

I tried coin tricks as well as zippo lighter tricks (I know, I know), but after I realized that I'm just a fidgety guy and need something to do with my hands, I got into the wacky world of fidget spinners. You don't have to go insane with the collections or the tactilol EDC kits like some of the folk in that subreddit, but having a chunk of plastic/metal that I can absentmindedly flick back and forth with one hand has actually helped a lot with my concentration at work.

A really solid if slightly meandering first ep. Fuller doesn't seem to be about a super tight plot and narrative, it's more about broader stuff and little moments, with the actors and scenes usually having some space to breathe. Shot composition is as rich as I expected, and that intro is loving awesome.

Too bad this thread made with a nice OP and a polite request to not be shitheels and run book spoilers on every loving page(subtext of the request), and mods don't seem to give a gently caress when a TELEVISION THREAD is run into the ground and few people who are watching the show without reading the books will bother posting in or reading anymore. Thanks for the try, OP, sucks that it had to get poo poo on.

I'm pretty surprised at how quickly things turned to poo poo. Usually it takes a few days, once people have exhausted talking about the episode and have started arguing about inane bullshit.

There was a very clear indication in the OP to not talk about book stuff, which half the posts have promptly ignored. And spoiling things under the guise of "it's so obvious!!" isn't any better.

I mean, it's not my job to police the thread, but I just wanted to talk about the show without dragging future events into it

Ehhhh I dunno, he made a ton of bad calls in The Wire. I mean yeah they do show that its not just black and white, same with the corner kids. But at the end of the day he's still a bit of an rear end in a top hat in The Wire. (although not as annoying as Ziggy)

But man, he was SO loving evil on Law & Order as the rapist, and he's perfect as Pornstache, and ... where else have I seen him...

He was Ricky Falcone on that one Christmas episode of Always Sunny

Isn't there a general TVIV rule about discussing an episode without spoilers before it's aired?

Jewish rules lawyering is absolutely loving hilarious. I especially love the Sabbot Phone. I'd love to see a depiction of Yahweh looking over a phone and declaring it technically acceptable, which as we all know, is the best kind of acceptable.

There's a giant wire encircling Manhattan that technically makes it a private place where you're allowed to actually do things on the day of rest: http://mentalfloss.com/article/91594/theres-wire-above-manhattan-youve-probably-never-noticed
