Hello and welcome to PYF! In addition to the general forums rules, the following are in place to help you enjoy your stay. 1. No hate speech. This includes, but is not limited to: sexism, racism, transphobia, homophobia. Irony is no excuse. 2. Keep posts work safe. Any NWS content must be LINKED and clearly marked with tags. 3. Be civil. Don't threadshit. Don't pick fights. Don't stalk, harass, or doxx other posters, and don't be a creep. Please also be aware that to post about ponies, porn, or Gamergate is to do so at your own risk. Questions, comments, concerns? Please feel free to contact a moderator. Somebody has a new favorite as of 01:31 on Jan 11, 2023 |

This post is reserved for the RULE OF THE DAY, which is really a forever rule, based on current subforum trends. Today's RULE OF THE DAY: quote:Do not post about who or what you would or wouldn't have sex with. Nobody cares.

Considering it gets broken constantly here's a reminder that you must directly link and tag NSFW images. Spoiler tags don't work when they're quoted and more importantly the images are still downloaded. I'm going to probate it whenever I see it now instead of only fixing it.LITERALLY A BIRD posted:2. EmmyOk posted:Considering it gets broken constantly here's a reminder that you must directly link and tag NSFW images. Spoiler tags don't work when they're quoted and more importantly the images are still downloaded. I'm going to probate it whenever I see it now instead of only fixing it. UPDATE!! It's a little more than 2 years after that rule was put into place, and admittedly, it's been sort of lazily enforced. Spoilered NWS images are fine and good in other subforums, but here in PYF, the energy and expectations are a little different. Spoilered NWS images are going to earn the poster a Lovely Twelve. Why not a Simple Six? Because we're taking this seriously and hope you do, too. If in doubt, just take the time to link rather than embed, folks. It's going to make the experience in this subforum better for everyone.

Happy April, PYF! I'm happy to announce it's been three years, just shy of to the day, since we rolled out our new, wildly acclaimed RULE OF THE DAY: Do not post about who or what you would or wouldn't have sex with. Nobody cares. What a great three years it's been. I'm glad you've all enjoyed this rule as much as I have. Following on the heels of that success, I'm here to present you with PYF's long-awaited second RULE OF THE DAY. Just like the first one, this is a rule that is not actually just for today, but for forever. Wow! Before I unveil this new, hotly anticipated rule, allow me to provide a brief preface. Now is a time of enormous turmoil in many aspects of all of our lives. Everybody is stressed, worried, and uncertain of the future and what it will bring. It is a time when it is especially important we remember to be kind and respectful of one another; and if we can, be patient and understanding too. Guests and regulars alike come to PYF and other subforums like it to manage their stress by relaxing, looking at funny pictures and reading interesting stories, and having a moment's respite from the world's many, many ills, just for an hour or two. Looking at funny pictures and reading interesting stories isn't the only way people manage their stress, though. In some subforums, sometimes it's posting things like kill all boomers and guillotine landlords and you know what? If that's what those subforums are for, then that's all right! I don't like landlords either. But that's not what PYF is for. The thing is, if we wanted to be in C-SPAM, we would be in C-SPAM. If people are in PYF, they are not here for performative posting; they are here for the pictures and stories and for terrible, just really bad wordplay. Sometimes, reading the performative posting that's the culture in some other subforums is just another source of stress: an omnipresent reminder of the condition of the world outside, inescapable even when what you need for a moment is to do just that. There are places for that kind of posting, but they're not here. PYF has its own identity. It doesn't need to echo someone else's. That's why I'm here to present the new PYF RULE OF THE DAY: quote:Leave C-SPAM in C-SPAM.

Welcome to the future. We've been through a lot together over the past few days. I don't have anything to to add to the above apart from this: if you gently caress in any way with the memory of Literally A Bird in this subforum, you're done here.

Pastry and I had some discussion about this and decided that going forward, the c-word won't be allowed in PYF. Other subforums have chosen to do the same thing. Now we all know that non-American English-speaking countries use this word in a very different context, but in the interest of keeping PYF as welcoming as possible we're going to ask everyone to not use it. Thanks!

Please do not derail threads arguing about the upcoming US presidential election. I trust you're all smart enough to know the kind of derails that we're talking about - slapfights about whether people should vote for one candidate over another. There are several reasons we want to keep this out of PYF, the main ones of which are: - It doesn't accomplish anything. Nobody's mind is going to be changed because of the PYF Funny Pictures thread, and evangelizing about your political opinion there is time and energy better spent elsewhere. - We already have lots of places to discuss this! There are entire subforums talking about the upcoming election, with a whole bunch of different threads. I'm sure if you look you'll find one appropriate for the thing you wanted to post! - Non-US goons care even less. I can't imagine what it must be like for them when this sort of thing sucks all the air out of a thread. So, please use your best judgement and avoid starting or engaging in these kind of derails. And honestly PYF hasn't had that big of an issue with this lately (at least not the threads I regularly read), but as we head into fall I think it's best if we get this on the record. Now, of course, there's the question of what constitutes a politics derail and what is politics-adjacent thread content. Again, I trust you are all smart enough to make the distinction, but if you have any questions, Pastry and my PMs are always open! To give some guidelines though, consider this: This kind of post is perfectly fine: Yes it's political but it's in line with the thread (memes) and is not particularly hostile, negative, or likely to provoke a derail. A post containing seventeen memes about how one oft he political paries is horrible would not be okay, though. If someone posted something like that, they are probably trying to evangelize or provoke a derail and they should be reported so that Pastry and I can take a look and make a judgement. Ultimately, this rule (such as it is) is intended to keep PYF the chill, fun place we all want it to be. Please feel free to PM either of us if you want to double check if a post would be too political or not!

Hello, we have some new rules! 1. Please do not blanket accuse any kind / class / group of people as pedophiles, groomers or equivalent, including any term where you have to wink/nudge about, UNLESS you have actual evidence to back this up. If you do have those, please feel free to PM me, or anyone in the mod/admin team you are comfortable with. DO NOT SEND US CP PLEASE. We will take over from there and look into the matter. If you've done the aforesaid, and feel reasonable sufficient time has passed (e.g. a week) yet no action has been taken, you may follow up with the same mod/admin or another one you're more comfortable with! We are in an incredibly idiotic political landscape currently where right wing people are calling lgbtq people those, and I would like to make it clear - this behaviour is not welcome in PYF. In fact, it should not be allowed in the whole forums! Or even anywhere tbh. 2. Please try to keep doomerism posting down. I'm fully in agreement that the past few years suck absolute loving monkey balls and it is uncertain if the sucking will not stop, but let's keep stuff like "society is doomed to burn soon and we should just set ourselves on fire" to a minimum. PYF is a place lots of people come to relax and destress from that sort of thoughts, and sometimes they can be invasive or triggering! Love your fellow posters imo at least. 3. If you feel like you're in trouble or need help, feel free to contact a mod and we'll see what we can do. I can't promise much but I would like the community to thrive and help out if I can. 4. Being a mod is inherently cringe so you calling me cringe does nothing HA! HA! [for team eyes only; fourth rule to be edited out] In addition to the above rules, PYF is somewhat known as the forums where people live out of their bookmarked threads, and we'd like to bring some threads up for more exposure. You probably have seen some stickied threads once in a while and we will be putting up stuff that we think people would be interested in. Also, don't be shy to create your own PYF thread! The upside is we get great content and the only potential downside is someone writing words at you for being unoriginal. Unless you do pyf porn then I'll ban you.

When you report a post, you gotta give us more than "?" or "wtf". None of the mods read all the threads and sometimes even reading a page or two of the thread for context doesn't help. We can't deal with potentially problematic posts if you don't tell us WHY they're an issue. Sometimes, though, it's immediately apparent and I open the report like (USER WAS PUT ON PROBATION FOR THIS POST)

Posting a death/gore is ban+30, especially if you do it in what is supposed to be a lighthearted thread. Posting dead bodies such as mummies is probably acceptable in the right context, such as a history thread. Probes/bans will be at mod discretion.
