Anne Whateley posted:One interesting thing about this thread is the US/UK divide. One trend that's apparently huge in the U.K. is serving food not on plates, but just on flat slabs, including slates. I'm aware a couple restaurants do it over here, but I haven't actually seen it, but apparently it's maddeningly ubiquitous there. I see a pretty decent amount of that here in the US, at least the plainer ones. And Ialso like seeing the atlantic decor divide

I do think that shelving books spine in is dumb, but there's plenty of historical precedent for it, that was the norm a few hundred years ago

Prada slut can sound obnoxious or moralizing sometimes (which seems partly in response to how he's treated here), but I think what he's mostly arguing against is people not having what they'd like because of their own laziness or mistaken ideas - and that seems pretty good and cool to me RoboRodent posted:I have to. I mean, technically I suppose I could choose to live out of my car and just hope for the best when the temperature drops to -20C, but that's splitting hairs. I tried to look up better versions of the same idea and found a bunch of really nice ones that were pretty much all single residences so you didn't have to dived the space so much. No, sorry - I've just seen a couple weird conversions into single homes by people my dad lent to Best imo is https://thespaces.com/born-again-cls-architects-turn-a-church-into-their-milan-hq/amp/ although it's not living space

Seems like you mostly managed to trade feeling dated for feeling cramped, but maybe that's just the pictures. The new bathroom seems like it's from a different house

I agree that the TV looks a bit awkward in the alcove. There's probably some adjustment of depth, height, or supporting furniture that would fix it. Seems like the obvious place for it regardless

My parents continue to have a trash compactor in the kitchen. We figured out how to use regular bags with it just about as soon as the special bags the previous owners left ran out
