I've been rewatching Lynch movies. The last one was Lost Highway. The scene where the main character sits in his room, thinking about her (avoiding spoilers), is so similar to Part 8, with the buzzing sounds and random out of focus shots. It's around the one hour and 19 minutes mark.
Check it out. Also, that movie is so nineties, holy poo poo. And Gary Busey is in it. :psyduck:

I really need to do a full series rewatch, I haven't even ever seen all of season 2. Planned to before S3 started but you know how that stuff goes. It was amazing watching S3 live, it's still mind boggling that something like this was on tv every week for a season, just amazing surrealist television.

Is anything after Leeland's death in season 2 that important? Windom Earle is rightfully ignored. Okay, Annie appears in the movie, but that's it basically. I skimmed through it mostly.

There's little bits of Lodge lore throughout, so my position has always been don't skip anything. And the Season 2 finale is absolutely crucial.

Yeah the finale is crucial.
But I cannot stomach that stuff with Ben, Josie or James. Or the "Doppelganger". :cmon:

We should do a rewatch of the later half of Season 2, after the death of Leeland. You will see that I was right to skip most of it :smugdog:

Which is not to say that there aren't indulgences that Lynch takes, but they are at least his indulgences. Some of them I love, like when he films a dramatic scene with a totally static shot. Some might kinda bother me, where both Lynch's character and his camera are taking an extended look at Chrysta Bell's butt as she walks wiggling her hips. (...)

It was great seeing this again. I loooved the fifties feel of that motorcycle gang. Twin Peaks is truly a place out of time.
Some great acting when James tells Donna about the last time he saw Laura. And that scene happens like that in FWWM.

Yeah. ^ SFG stopped his new LP of DP, because of that bug. I hope it is gone from the Switch version. The port is not soo great, to put it mildly, and knowing the company, it is unlikely they put some effort into the remaster.

And yes, watch that Missing LP or play it. There are some TP references in it, but not much.

Yeah, Twin Peaks is pretty influential. The last game I played that was heavily inspired by Twin Peaks came out a few months ago, even. It's called Trüberbrook. There are quips about coffee and pie in the tutorial section and the protagonist records random thoughts into his dictaphone.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWb7tHn23L4

The game is okay.

Oh poo poo, I didnt know that. There are some actors I like doing the VO in German.
And yes, seconding Alan Wake. There is a scene in it that is AMAZING and parts of it are actually scary. I never played the DLC, though and I don't think it ever got a proper ending.

AstroWhale

The lodge scene is legit scary after all these years. And they shot these scenes for the international pilot, right? They look different than the rest of the episode. Also Mike and Bob spoke normally. And I forgot that the humming sound in the lodge was there.
Basically, this episode felt like season 3.

Yeah, that is relevant to Twin Peaks,
Related to the game discussion before: I played Trüberbrook and it is... bad?
  • Voice acting in German is bad. But, it is a German game?
  • Graphical errors and glitches are common.
  • There are some Twin Peaks references, like a voice recorder the main character uses, but it is just the humor. It feels more like Monkey Island than anything.
  • It is short, like 4 hours.

I am close to the end, but I am bored. I really don't feel like finishing it.

AstroWhale

Don't they say "Loge" in the dub? Also imagine not seeing the original Japanese dub :smugdog:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhtDHiNccow

One game has been missing from the discussion: Life Is Strange.
And I didn't finish Trüberbrook, since I managed to softlock it in the last(?) scene on the Switch, and I just don't care.

She is. But it stays unclear, if it is the real Diane, another tulpa or another black lodge entity. But that's another discussion.

In a recurring theme, things happen twice or more.

What is there? 15 Coopers? :downs:

When Bad Coop enters the convenience store, a woodman will pull a lever too.

Dougie reacts to things around him. Mr. C. has all kinds of long-term plans and schemes.
I wondered the first time why he drove around when he knew something will happen regarding the lodge. But, it will be obvious he wanted to be in that prison.
