From my recollection, my big complaint was that your weapons didn't really feel like they were doing anything to the enemies... It felt like there wasn't any good visual feedback to indicate that you were damaging enemies, so it seemed like they were bullet sponges when they really weren't. It made it seem really unsatisfying.
