Apparently there was a drunk flight attendant on a Trans States flight? https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/united-airlines-trans-states-flight-attendant-incident-481702141.html quote:"Boarding announcements were 'if your seatbelt isn’t tight, you F^*%ed up,'" Gorman said.

a patagonian cavy posted:"Nose pitched to 49 degrees nose down in response to control column input" and "Engines spooled up to max thrust" together kinda put the lie to this hopeful theory How unrealistic would "pilot got caught off balance by a jolt, fell forward on the throttle and stick" be?

So Jezebel just posted about a conspiracy theory that Paula Abdul was in a plane crash that she talks about, but either never happened or was covered up. I tried poking around in the FAA database but the search criteria don't seem to make it easy to find a forced landing in any of a few states in any of a few years. How likely is it that a plane could make a forced landing with injuries and not end up in the database?

The Atlantic just published an enormous article breaking down what we know for sure about MH370 and the conclusion that no one is willing to admit: it was a pilot suicide

NYC has a number of seaplane services to summer destinations, but they all seem to be flown with Cessna Caravans or similar, so I imagine that's not ATP rated.

The Slaughter posted:Looking at pairings has me wondering: How tf do you survive flying Hawaii redeyes? Like depart OGG 23:55 and land SFO at 7am? Oof. That sounds identical to a transcontinental red-eye, for both flight time and time zone shift. They make it work.

CBJSprague24 posted:drat, TSA was just at our flight school not long ago recruiting. I'm not aware any of our regional-bound CFIs were headed there, though- most of our guys go Streakin', to the Brickyard, or Wisconsin. https://airwaysmag.com/airchive/the-last-clipper-flight/ drat it's a touching story.

A lot of 747 fleets are getting accelerated retirement. A380 too possibly.

How is it for fuel efficiency? If it saves gas, I'm sure the airlines will demand it.

Some airports like SFO do this, and it's safe because an airliner on approach is flying a well defined, stable course. They come in from opposite directions and never cross paths.
