This is how Deus Ex:IW and Thief: DS ended up the way they did. They hired a guy to develop a dynamic shadows system and while he did actually do that he also rewrote half the game engine so that it bore no resemblance to what it was based off of. Then the guy got fired and they realized they had less than a year to complete two games on what was essentially a custom fork of Unreal Engine 1.5.

What settings do I need to change in order to speed up combat/movement? Getting slightly annoyed at how long everything takes to move.

Side note there was a mission to extract some civvies from a warzone and you need to escort them to an extraction point. The problem is once you clear out the initial blocking force you end up with no enemies on the field until the civ APCs are in the extraction zone. At which point the game spawns 4 light mechs right on top of the extract so trying to kill 'em off without losing an APC (thanks to surprise attack initiative making it so they're all going first) is more luck than anything else. Definitely one of the worst designed missions I've encountered so far.

The assassinate missions are sort of easy because the escorts generally are between you and the target; they're also usually lighter weight mechs or vehicles. So by the time you get to the guy you're supposed to be taking out you're maxed out on morale, so alpha striking some legs with concentrated fire will usually succeed. I have parts for 4 different heavies through doing this.

Head targeting might as well be a crapshoot though, I've managed to kill pilots maybe twice out of 60 or so mech kills.

This game REALLY needed a bit more time to work out some major bugs. (Camera, strange pauses, resolution support, etc.) Overall gameplay has been generally OK so far other than that. UI is a bit of a mess, but its serviceable.

From what I remember the original ship date was sometime last year and they pushed it back, so having another delay would probably cause backers to riot.

Is there ever actually a reason to not max out on salvage except on some missions where you'll only be facing vehicles (talking really early on)?

So the only long-range mechs in the campaign are LRM boats? No ER PPC's or Gauss rifles?

I can never keep track of what stuff is "clan" and what stuff isn't. This game definitionally doesn't include clan stuff right because it's 3025 ruleset?

Gauss isn't Clan so much as nobody was still making it in the Inner Sphere until they found the Helm memory core in 3028 (which technically is when the game is taking place? Or is it 3 years later from 3022?). Clan versions were still better though.

Similarly pulse lasers/ER laser are in the same boat; IS had them in between Helm and the Clan Invasion but the Clan versions are generally better.

There's a small amount of weapons that aren't in the era in the game files aside from the aforementioned gauss rifle.

There's jsons for ER/Pulse variants of all of the lasers as well as an ER PPC. As far as I can tell no mechs actually use them though and my guess is they're placeholders for DLC or modders.

When there's pressure like this to launch early, it usually comes from the publisher, hence my asking. Thakns in advance!

BattleTech already had another year in the oven over their planned ship date and a beta on top of it so its a bit weird that some of these issues didn't get noticed.

Clan eugenics is pretty much born out in the fluff as pretty positive for the purpose of blowing things up which is what most of the setting is about. There's a lot of handwringing about the Merchant and Scientist castes being underrepresented in Clan society but it really all boils down to "the Clan is full of amazing warriors, they're all eugenically filtered to be amazing, the only reason why they lost is because they didn't commit to total war" and then you have the wehraboo mindset kick in much like how if Germany just did these things more intelligently they would've won like they deserved...

The Clan Eugenics program is a bit hilarious because they apparently rotate sibkos through it and into full Warrior caste and then retire them in the spanse of 10/15 years whereas the Inner Sphere freebirths will keep using the same people as long as they're able resulting in the combat vets of the initial Clan invasion being used as solahma ahead of the end of the truce.

The whole Clan system is based on trying to settle disputes on extremely pissed off groups of people without utterly wrecking their society (eg, First Succession War) or destroying vital industries the Clans need as a whole. Once that system dies the whole Clan way of life implodes because the Clans are largely idiots and putting one over on them through treachery is easy as gently caress.

That way Mechs with mid-damage weapons would also benefit from this and not only the AC20/Gauss boats.

Breaching shot works with multishot. Makes double PPC setups a bit more viable.
