Liking the look of The Swindle. The music's good. I get kind of a Gunpoint vibe from it, although Gunpoint did more with hacking.

This game looks pretty neato, I might pick it up if it continues to tickle my fancy. I'm a sucker for roguelites.

Procedural generation is capable of supporting a lot more weight than it could back in the Mysterious Dungeon days. And that's great! It's neat to see somebody come out with Procedural Mark of the Ninja or Procedural Mascot Platformer.

I'd highly recommend both Swindle and Flinthook. For some reason Swindle has mixed reviews on steam and a lot of people complaining about the controls but they must be playing with their feet or something because it handles fine. Except for the upgrade menu navigation that kind of controls like balls.

Platforming was too floaty for my tastes and I bailed early. Mind I play these games with keyboard which probably didn't help matters.

Has anyone played the Vita version of The Swindle? If the Vita controls are decent then I'm definitely going to pick it up.

This is a good game that I enjoyed immensely up to a given point (the last level) and then hated enough that I had to put it down for a week before finishing it. Still a fun ride.

I am also rather a fan of roguelikes, and thus will be following this thread with my Steam Wallet in hand. That said, are you taking suggestions for the Rogue's Gallery?

If you've got something you'd like to see or think should be shown off go ahead and drop it in here. I've got a decent sized list already, but I might have missed something cool.

I've been messing around with a game called "Tomb of Tyrants" which is kind of like "You Must Build a Boat" crossed with "Dungeon Keeper" but with rogue-like unlocks. I hope you'll be taking a look at "Renowned Explorers: International Society" at some point.

So they expect you to have bombs and lockpick in this district. Do they expect you to have other powers too?

As far as suggestions go: are you going to do Leap of Fate? It's sort of a hack'n'slash card game with random skill trees and permadeath.

UPDATE The Binding of Isaac Isaac is a Glazius posted:So they expect you to have bombs and lockpick in this district. Do they expect you to have other powers too? Hacking level 2 (the one that opens doors) and bombs are the only upgrades you're really expected to have. The game will start throwing security stations in now and then and those require Hacking 3, but it's not a strictly necessary upgrade. Yet. And Renowned Explorers is on the list too, that one I might do a few on.

The fun in BoI is the crazy upgrade synergies you can get if you can avoid death long enough (and if you're very lucky, that doesn't have to be long) because there are tons of them and outside of a dozen very specific items none of them make it harder to kill things or survive. Of those specific exceptions several will make the run if collected right away and you're used to their drawbacks and/or get things to make any usage problems go away; very few actively 100% bad items exist and even some of those can actually get saved. Unlike Gungeon or other later arena-ish roguelikes things aren't really balanced around being anything but awesome shattering power when combined, and that's when I feel like it's at its most fun. It's just too bad Edmund lost sight of that and started making weird choices to try and make it harder in Afterbirth. I don't know for sure what if anything you have to do to unlock the Dr. Fetus challenge but once I got used to that and beat it I really liked it thanks to it being very poor player friendly so long as you are at least good enough to avoid the obvious downside (being able to find secret rooms for free helped as well). Brimstone is available at the start though and the only issues with that are having to dodge for longer and look up ahead of time items that will mess it up (also you'll see it in a devil room probably before you see it as a regular treasure). I dunno how much you like the more classic-format Roguelikes, but I'm a pretty big fan of Tales of Maj'Eyal. It doesn't hurt that it's free(go to te4.org instead of Steam).

There's a way you can turn off background blur and camera 'dirtiness', that sort of helps but doesn't make major changes. I'll see if I can't throw up a comparison at some point.

So now another question - can you get to everything in a district 1 building with 3 bombs, or is RNG going to flip you off sometimes?

UPDATE Rogue's Gallery: Flinthook (2/?) There was going to be a video with an actual new game but I decided to eat a burg last night instead of edit it. I'll probably get it up either tonight or tomorrow. Glazius posted:So now another question - can you get to everything in a district 1 building with 3 bombs, or is RNG going to flip you off sometimes? It's pretty rare but sometimes you'll need more than 3. Occasionally the game will generate 2 or more 'enclosed' spaces and 3 bombs won't be enough to get into all of them.
