Looks like Nadal doesn't want to play tomorrow and has opted to crush Thiem like a bug.

This match excepted the semi-finals on both sides were good and the finals look promising on paper. Wawrinka is about the best you could hope for to give Rafa a match on Sunday, and Halep v Ostapenko is a real toss-up and a nice contrast in styles.

Nadal is well on his way to a tenth FO and I am stoked. Doubt he will catch or pass Fed anymore for the Slam record but it's nice to see him back in top form for the first time in years.

If Halep can't win here then there's no hope for her. It's windy and that should help her as Ostapenko was spraying the ball for 20 minutes in the wind against Wozniacki.

I like Ostapenko but I don't want her to get crushed under expectations like last years Roland Garros winner did.

e: wow Ostapenko hit four winners to break instantly.

Wow. Hell of a start for Ostapenko.

Edit: this match is almost entirely on her racquet.

Pretty much going as expected so far I guess. Halep just keeping the ball in play and Ostapenko eventually hitting a winner or error.

edit: Has either one hit a single slice?

Not outside of defensive flails. It's quite a crazy match.

and she did it hitting a crazy number of winners in the whole tournament.

Crazy. Poor Halep. Though I can't help but feel like she played a tactically poor match. It was all the same note from her, even taking into account Ostapenko's aggression, she didn't do enough to move her around, keep her off balance, vary her shots, etc. Obviously easier said than done, but still.

In general I thought the match was kind of frustrating to watch, to be honest.

I'm ready for the reign of Queen Ostapenko!

Who am I kidding, she will probably flame out of the next three tournaments, not winning a single set.

My preferred player won the women's title.

Now for the Stanimal to take down the Capybara.

Agreed in general but the shot making from Ostapenko was something to behold in the back end of the last two sets. Halep will probably get another chance somewhere.

What a beatdown. Congrats Rafa.

Probably one of the worst slams in recent years, though.

Foregone conclusion given for the first time in years Rafa is healthy and playing at top form. It was really cute how people somehow thought either of his two possible opponents would be remotely challenging though.
