taken from Wrestling Observer

The show opened with a Memorial Day package narrated by John Cena honoring various notable American figures, including George Patton, Barack Obama, Ronald Reagan and Norman Schwarzkopf.

Miz and Maryse came out for MizTV. Miz said he was feeling good because, this Sunday, he will get his hands on Ambrose, who Miz called a thief. Miz said he earned an opportunity to face Ambrose for the Intercontinental Championship, but he claimed Ambrose got intentionally disqualified. Ambrose said he went to Angle to ask for the stipulation where Ambrose will lose the championship if he gets disqualified at Extreme Rules. Miz talked about winning the Intercontinental Championship for the 7th time. Miz introduced his guests, Cesaro and Sheamus.

Miz said no two superstars in the WWE have worked harder and deserve to become champion more than Cesaro and Sheamus. Miz said the Hardy Boyz were handed an opportunity and stole their spotlight. Sheamus said the biggest shame of it all was all the fans turned their backs on Cesaro when Jeff and Matt Hardy showed up. Sheamus said the fans were fickle and they were all about the new toy. Miz said Cesaro and Sheamus were like him, they were victimized by the people. Miz said he elevated the Intercontinental Championship, and Ambrose dragged it down through the trash-filled bin.

Ambrose came out. He said he doesn't always make great decisions, but he sees three buttheads out here and someone should come out and shut their mouths. Miz said there were three on his said and only Ambrose defending himself. The Hardys came out for a brawl. Miz left the ring before they even started fighting. The Hardys disposed of Sheamus and Cesaro quickly. This led to a trios match.

The Hardy Boyz and Dean Ambrose defeated the Miz, Cesaro and Sheamus (12:46)

A match with two hot tags, the last of which made by Ambrose to Jeff Hardy after delivering a rebound clothesline to Cesaro. Matt delievered the Side Effect on Miz, forcing Sheamus to make the save. Ambrose gave Cesaro Dirty Deeds and a tope to Sheamus. Hardy gave Miz a swinging neckbreaker, which I think was supposed to be the Twist of Fate, and Jeff pinned Miz with the Swanton. Match was clumsy down the stretch.

Michael Cole talked with Booker T and Cory Graves when Graves received a text message. Graves walked away from the broadcast table looking concerned.

Alexa Bliss will present "Bayley, This is your Life" later tonight.

Graves shared the text message backstage to Angle. It was from someone who said that Angle was "A disgrace and embarassment to the WWE and bismirched his reputation as a gold medalist," apparently commenting on the job that Angle has done so far. The contents of the text message wasn't shared in its entirety with the audience, but Angle said if this was true, it could ruin him. Graves said he felt Angle has done a great job so far.

Elias Samson was in the ring singing again. He sang "Like no man, my name is home. I've come to Raw for this to be known. If a lonely soul slips through the cracks. They'll fall in front of me right on the tracks. Last week, I locked a lunatic away. An A-list player I must repay. I say what it is is what I am."

Elias Samson defeated Zac Evans (2:41)

In a squash straight from 1991 Superstars, Samson won with the swinging neckbreaker where Zac Evans landed face-first.

Graves walked back to the broadcast table. Cole asked him about the text, but Graves didn't want to discuss it.

Joe was in the middle of an interview with Charly Caruso when Wyatt interrupted him from his secret lair. Wyatt said he was the one who WOULD defeat Brock Lesnar. He was prepared to wage war until the end of time against the carcass of the beast and he won't turn away from the fight. Wyatt said Joe and Seth Rollins and Finn Balor will give in to their fears and run.

Samoa Joe pinned Bray Wyatt in a three-way match that also included Finn Balor (16:45)

Joe and Wyatt took turns watching the other face Balor in the opening four minutes. Balor took a superplex on a Tower of Doom spot where Wyatt power bombed Joe in the corner. The came a sequence where Joe and Wyatt ganged up on Balor, ending with each dropping sentons on him. Wyatt clotheslined Joe to end the momentary partnership. Balor made a comeback with a running knee across the apron on Joe. Balor ran around ringside with a kick to Wyatt's forehead, and sprinted to the other side where he drop kicked Joe. Crowd was hot for Balor. In the ring, Joe planted Balor with a uranage, and clamped on a Coquina Clutch. Balor kicked off the turnbuckles to escape and hit a double stomp on Joe. Wyatt ran in and attempted Sister Abigail, but Balor escaped and hit a double stomp on Wyatt. Joe used an overhead belly-to-belly suplex on Balor. Wyatt got Joe with Sister Abigail, but Balor hit Wyatt from behind, gave him the sling blade, a dropkick and the Coup de Grace. But Joe ran in and threw Balor into the post, then covered Wyatt for the three count. Really good match.

Rollins did an interview with Mike Rome. Rollins said over the past few months, he's gotten to know Joe very well because Joe shows up whenever he turns his back. He knows Reigns even better. Rollins said he and Reigns want the same thing and that is to be the very best in the business. He also knows he owns Reigns and he doesn't see why tonight will be any different. Rollins said when he takes his right knee and cracks it over Reigns head, it won't be anything personal. This Sunday, Rollins said he is ready to change history again.

Rich Swann defeated Noam Dar (2:52)

Sasha Banks was in Rich Swann's corner while Alicia Fox was in Noam Dar's corner. Crowd was silent. Swann gave Dar a somersault legdrop off the ropes. Booker called it a "modified hangover." Swann went to the top rope, leading to Fox jumping on the apon. Banks tripped Fox and speared her into the apron. Swann finished Dar with a Phoenix Splash. Swann danced afterwards, then asked Banks to join him, which she did.

Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder did an interview with Caruso. Wilder had his jaw wired shut, which they used as an excuse for the Revival not being on TV. When Caruso brought up up Enzo Amore being laid out, Dawson said they haven't been at Raw in six weeks. Then Caruso showed footage from last week where she was interviewing Banks, and Dawson and Wilder were shown entering the building. Dawson claimed Caruso was asking gotcha questions and said Amore was a bottom-feeder in the WWE.

Cole, Booker and Graves discussed the footage. Graves said he knew that Big Cass has seen that footage, implying that Cass was the one who jumped Enzo last week. After highlights of last week's 205 Live street fight between Brian Kendrick and Akira Tozawa aired, Cass came out to the commentators table and confronted Graves, who quickly apologized. Cass was content with Graves' explanation.

Titus O'Neil did an inset promo telling Apollo Crews that Crews could use some of his charisma.

Titus O'Neil defeated Kalisto (:51)

Following a head kick, Kalisto went for a victory roll, but O'Neil held Kalisto's trunks in a cradle position and pinned him. Crews was at ringside and said he saw O'Neil grab Kalisto's trunks. O'Neil wasn't listening and took a selfie with Crews, who still looked like he didn't want to be around O'Neil.

Bliss came out for the "This is Your Life, Bayley" segment. There were three people in the ring with her along with various artifacts from Bayley's past. Bliss said people couldn't imagine Bayley in a match where a kendo strick was legal. As the goddess in the WWE, Bliss said she had to dig deep into Bayley's past. Bliss pulled out Bayley's first-ever doll that she's had since she was 2 years...then Bliss stopped herself and said Bayley still plays with this one. She pulled out a trophy and said it was a sportsmanship trophy, laughing how she must have really won some scholarships with that one. Bliss found Bayley's yearbook, where she claimed Bayley was voted most likely to apologize.

Crowd was already bored with this and they hadn't even started doing the interviews with people from "Bayley's past." Bliss introduced Bayley's 4th grade teacher Mrs. Flapper, who said Bayley always sat in the front row in class right next to her father. Mrs. Flapper said Bayley couldn't be away from her father very long or else she would start to cry. Bliss introduced Bayley's ex-best friend Tracy Havalina. Tracy said Bayley was her best friend, but Bayley did other people's homework and they were best friends until Bayley wanted to watch Monday Night Raw instead of hanging out with her at the mall. Crowd was hating this.

Next up was Bayley's ex-boyfriend Phil Johnson, who said Bayley was a very nice girl. Bliss wanted to know what was it like on Bayley's first date. Johnson claimed Bayley brought her father everytime they were on dates. Crowd started chanting "delete." Johnson said he leaned in to kiss Bayley one night, but he almost kissed her father instead. Johnson said he only dated Bayley because he wanted to get closer to Tracy, who acted like she didn't know that. Then Phil and Tracy started making out. Booker muttered "This is hard to watch."

Bayley finally came out, double legged Bliss and hit her with punches. Bliss scored a right hand, but Bayley hit a back suplex. Bayley cleaned off the table with her trophies and yearbooks on it, then went for the Kendo Stick on a pole. She started to climb up, but Bliss knocked her down, and Bayley's ribs came down across the top rope. Bliss pulled out a kendo stick from under the table and hit Bayley with it across the back again. Remember the great Festival of Friendship angle? This was the polar opposite. Then Cole had to deliever a pitch for a 30-day free membership to the WWE Network.

They advertised a Table for 3 with Jim Cornette, Eric Bischoff and Michael Hayes.

Backstage, Amore was laid out again. Cass ran up and checked on him. Angle walked in. Cass said it was the Revival who took out Amore again. Angle said it couldn't have been the Revival because he saw them leave the building. Cass said he was never leaving Enzo's side again and helped him up.

Austin Aries and Jack Gallagher defeated Neville and TJP by submission (12:35)

TJP tripped Austin Aries as Aries attempted the Discus Fivearm. Jack Gallagher went after TJP as Aries backdropped Neville to the floor. Aries wiped out all three men with a tope, but started selling his left knee, which was taped up. Aries missed a missle dropkick, but Neville missed a Phoenix Splash off the second rope. Aries put Neville in the Last Chancery and Neville tapped out. Neville looked stunned as Aries kept making tapping motions to him, saying he would make Neville tap again on Sunday in their submission match.

In the back, Reigns did an interview with Rome. Reigns said there isn't a man on this Earth that owns him and the only thing he's concerned with tonight is proving he is the big dog and showing everyone this is his yard.

Caruso interviewed Neville backstage. She asked him if losing by submission to Aries for the first time since joining the cruiserweight division concerned him. He marched away in disgust.

There was another Goldust vignette where he said we all go a little mad soemtimes. It takes a while before you reach that moment where you snap, the breaking point. Now, he's back in the director's chair. R-Truth knew that Goldust was too big for a supporting role. Goldust said Truth held him back and Truth wanted the spotlight all to himself. Soon, he will put an end to all that because their motion picture will reach their final crescendo. Their ending won't be happy, it won't be sad, it will be golden. Goldust said the Golden age is back.

Then a Truth vignette popped up from "Truth Be Told Productions." Like Goldust, Truth was sitting in a director's chair looking over the shoulder to the camera. He started with the famed line "I'm sorry, Did I break your concentration?" Truth said he loved going to the movies when he was young because it served as an escape for him. He took a lot of inspiration from Shaft and Jules Winfield. He quoted some more from Jules from Pulp Fiction. In a serious tone, Truth said Goldust was going to get got.

Roman Reigns defeated Seth Rollins (18:14)

Reigns hit the drive-by, driving Rollins' ribs into the post. Reigns made some heel-like facials after scoring big moves early. Reigns controlled for several minutes, then attempted the Superman punch, but Rollins caught a side kick to the ribs and a sling blade. Rollins tried the Falcoln Arrow, but his ribs were too sore. Rollins had a mistimed dropkick and a tope. Rollins did a springboard right into a Superman punch by Reigns, but Rollins kicked out. Reigns went for the spear, but Rollins sidestepped that and turned it into a cradle. Rollins sprung off the ropes for a superkick. Rollins went to the top rope, but Reigns caught him with a right hand and tried a Samoan Drop, But Rollins flipped over, just like how he injured his knee against Kane in 2015, and power bombed Reigns into the corner. But in a great spot, Reigns bounced off the turnbuckles and hit a Superman punch. Crowd jumped to its feet after that spot.

After both men were down for six seconds, Rollins rolled out of the ring. Reigns ran around, but Rollins threw him into the ring steps. Rollins hit a blockbuster for a near fall, then sprang back to the top rope for a frog splash in a good false finish. Rollins went for a Phoenix Splash (3rd time tonight), but Reigns move out of the way. Reigns went for a spear, but Rollins bounced away from him and went for the Rainmaker knee strike, but Reigns ducked and speared Rollins for the pin. Match of the night, which was't easy after the three-way.

  • Before the opening, each of the 5 competitors in the Number One contenders match for Naomi's title did direct-to-camera promos talking up their chances of winning the match. Charlotte, Carmella, Nattie, Becky and Tamina.

  • The Highlight Reel has a new host, with Kevin Owens replacing Chris Jericho, and his first guest was Shinsuke Nakamura. Owens threatened to do to Shinsuke what he did to Jericho if he showed up at Money in the Bank. Baron Corbin interrupted Shinsuke's response to show a highlight reel of beating up Sami last week. Shinsuke reminded Owens he pinned him last week, and reminded Baron he was beaten twice in a row by Sami. Both heels attacked him and were putting a beating on him when Sami showed up to save him and asked for a tag match.

  • Nakamura and Sami defeated Kevin Owens and Baron Corbin. Shinsuke pinned Owens for the second time in two weeks with the Kinshasa.

  • The Usos were doing an in-ring promo bragging about retaining the tag titles last week when New Day's music hit. New Day arrived and told the Usos they wanted a shot at the tag titles and they were going to get it the easy way or the hard way.

  • A recap for Jinder Mahal's championship celebration, including Indian news coverage.

  • The Fashion Files did a Noir-segment complete with black and white and narration by Fandango. Their office had been smashed up and their new case is to figure out who did it. Tyler Breeze played the femme fatale :3:

  • The Five Women Number One Contender match broke out into a big brawl before the ref could call for the bell. They fought in and out of the ring, did moonsaults to the outside and were put through tables. Finally Shane McMahon came out and announced the five women will fight again at the PPV for the Number One Contendership, in the first ever Women's Money in the Bank Ladder match.

  • The Fashion Police, still dressed in their Noir outfits, faced The Colons in a tag match. Breeze switched into his janitor outfit towards the end of the match and got the pin after hitting the Unprettier while the Colon was having a tug of war with Fandango over the broom.

  • AJ did a backstage interview about his match against Dolph Ziggler, saying he was a "great" having a match with a "good" to show just how great he was and build momentum. Ziggler showed up and reminded him he is the only one in the match to have won a MitB briefcase as well as cash it in to become World Champion. Ziggler challenged him to fight then and there, AJ accepted and Ziggler taunted him and said he'd see him later.

  • Orton did an in-ring response to losing the title to Jinder Mahal, pointing out he was born to wrestling. His dad was in the main event of the first Wrestlemania, his granddad would slap him upside the head for having lost the title in the first place. Orton said he would give Jinder Mahal a good old fashioned American Orton family asskicking and win his title back. As his promo finished and he prepared to pose, Jinder showed up on the titantron and declared Randy was just like every other American. The Singh Brothers applauded his promo.

  • Sasha Banks and Rich Swann did a 205 Live promo hyping their match after Smackdown against Alicia Fox and Noam Dar. It was announced that Shinsuke Nakamura and Kevin Owens would have a singles match next week.

  • Dolph Ziggler defeated AJ Styles in the main event. Tripping AJ onto the ropes when he went for the Phenomenal Forearm, Ziggler hit a Superkick and pinned him. The show ended with Ziggler motioning towards the MitB briefcase hanging above the ring.

We can have Roman beat CM Punk's reign and also try to outdo Okada's reign for match quality to prove Vince right in the end!

Y'know my problem isn't so much Roman beating Finn and Seth clean, it's the fact that they were two of the only guys who were up on him in wins and you could've made a big deal out of him getting his win back from them but they were nothing, pointless matches in the build to a B-PPV. You coulda done something to build storylines with the fact that Finn and Seth are guys that have major wins over him en route to his big match with Lesnar.

At this rate I think Vince just thinks he has to retcon the losses from when Roman had his wellness violation, so I'm sure a Spear is comin' for Dean pretty soon too.

Like it's not the best example because that was blown off on TV too but remember the "John Cena can't beat CM Punk" story and how awesome the final match in that feud was?

you at least go into it with the knowledge it was bad. some of us, by which i mean only me, thought 'hey this COULD be very good and get lots of heel heat/face heat for alexa/bayley respectively' and ahahahahahaha oh boy was that not the case

part of me thinks this is something where vince was heavily involved, but the fact that it only hinted at quasi-incestuous feelings of a father for daughter means he probably didn't, as Vince would have been much more direct.

It's even worse, because if you think of Bayley the big cornerstones of her character are

-passionate about wrestling
-unshakably ethical lawful good protagonist
-cena-style superhero underdog who still almost always wins so kids can identify with her

and over the course of her last two feuds it's been repeatedly hammered home that

-she's a nerd for caring about wrestling so much
-she'll cheat to win and be not just okay with it but openly celebrate it
-she regularly gets her rear end beat by basically everybody

So not only does the metatextual Bayley Is Ending This Bad Segment thing not even remotely stick, the actual structure of her character and the reasons to like her have been repeatedly undermined for basically no reason and with basically no payoff and that plus her own weaknesses as a performer make it hard for the audience to give a poo poo period.

Yeup. Well said.

If you asked me a year ago how cool Bayley winning a match for the Women's Championship at Wrestlemania would be, I'dve thought it'd be one of the major highlights of the show, but hooboy did they manage to systematically tear it down and make it the flattest, weakest victory imaginable. :/

There was a point in the segment where Bayley's friend was bagging on her for watching Monday Night Raw, and Alexa was like "LOL SHE WATCHED RAW AS A KID? WHAT A LOSER." and I'm just kinda like, motherfucker, you're on Monday Night Raw right now. You're kinda burying yourself.

I mean, at least Bayley was smart enough to watch the show when it was actually good.
