Absolution was also really disappointing and that usually affects the sequels more than the bad game itself.

This is definitely just a taste thing. Minecraft doesn't do it for me at all. I think I played it for like 2-3 hours before I got bored of it.

BOTW is obviously not going to hit some people as hard others since so much of it relies on finding joy in the exploration. If the exploration doesn't grab you then BOTW is not going to be the amazing experience its fans are praising it for. Personally, BOTW is one my favorite games.
