So I had installed Metro Exodus with the PC Game Pass awhile ago but just went to play it today and I could only get it to launch once. Apparently I missed the 100 reviews on the MS Store page saying it’s a broken port. I made it maybe 45 mins in before it crashed and now I can’t get it working. Is this a well known thing?

I did a bunch of updates to the PC and I will try it again tomorrow but from what I’ve read that does not solve the issue

I will never understand why the elite controllers are a thing. The first gen ones were $150 and the new ones are like $250? I’m really struggling to find a good reason why someone should pay like 8x the cost of a regular controller for one.

It’s way more than twice as much now, even if you pay the full $60 retail for a regular controller

I’ve been able to get Metro Exodus working, thankfully. I didn’t want to have to buy it. I fully expect to get the ‘bad ending’ for the third game in a row, however.

I'm playing through Exodus now and yeah, I'm surprised by how many areas require you to go full stealth & zero deaths for the moral point when your first instinct is to shoot everybody considering it is a FPS and said people are dressed like bandits and shoot you on sight.

Really enjoying the game though! I'm just about up to the last act and only had one crash on the One X and two glitches (one where characters were stuck in a T-pose and the other I got stuck inside a rock) but were fixed by loading an earlier save.
I enjoy the Metro games but their 'morality system' has been garbage in every game

In the first one you basically had to look up how to get the best ending since the game doesn't really tell you what you need to do in order to get it. A lot of it involves interacting with NPCs during visits to some of the populated metro stations. I don't even remember what the deal was with the 2nd one but I know it was at least somewhat clearer what you needed to do.

I'm glad that the 3rd game is expanding the story beyond 'you are stuck in the metro fighting Nazis/Commies/mutants/bandits to get to a place'. That and the open world sections are a nice change from cramped corridors.

Yeah, they did two games exclusively in the metro that had a couple of short segments outside and I think that was enough.

I will say that the game is getting a little on the nose with having increasingly evil enemies, from the Luddite cult to the cannibals to now the slavers. Even one of the characters wonders out loud what other hosed up people they are going to run into.

You definitely need to play Dishonored 1's full DLC since that introduces the villain of 2. She's not in the main story of 1 except maybe in some of the lore reading.

Finished Metro Exodus after stopping for a bit to marathon through Control. For the first time in playing this series I was able to get the good ending. I was expecting until the last minute of the finale for the game to say I was going to get the bad ending, but thankfully this game is not as bad as the first two in figuring out how to get the right ending.

Nice, it's a great game. I still have to do a bad ending/ranger hardcore run through to get the 100%, but with this 200+ game backlog it's hard to find time & motivation to play through things I've already played when I could be playing something I haven't.
My only complaint is that the final level of the game is very much original Metro for all of the good and bad. I also think it's a bit misleading to say that there are three 'open world' areas, when the 3rd of those is almost entirely linear.

It's been awhile since I played the first one, but I remember that the best way to get through that game stealthily was to upgrade the Blink power to max as early as possible so you could bypass a lot of guards, and also upgrade the bow so you could shoot guys from a distance with tranqs if need be

DR2 and 3 are the best ones

DR1 I quit pretty quickly because it controls like poo poo and they expect you to kill fast bosses with those controls. But more importantly, the survivors’ AI is awful and they would die constantly. DR2 is a massive improvement in that way.

It will power on but puts out no signal through the hdmi port and turns off after about a minute, hard drive seems to make just a clicking noise. It had been getting noticeably slower for awhile now, just as far as load times and menu navigation and whatnot. I've taken it apart, cleaned it out, removed things, put things back in, switched hdmi cables, and done several sacrificial rituals to no avail. Anyone have experience with this? I don't have any spare laptop drives laying around and at this point I'd almost prefer to just replace the whole console rather than get a new drive and wait for something else fail in a couple months.
Now's the best possible time to get a replacement cheaply with all of the console sales

I had also heard some positive things about Sunset Overdrive, and played it on GamePass. It's alright, but honestly it already feels very dated with the comedy and writing.

I think the main issue is that a lot of the missions are very repetitive. Then they force you into these 'protect the base' missions which aren't very interesting after the first couple. The weapons are unique enough but you aren't going to use a lot of them in my experience.

So if anyone remembers the game The Culling, which is one of the earliest BR games, the original game is being relaunched on Xbox tomorrow but with the weirdest ‘pay to play’ model I’ve seen.

The game costs $5.99. Each match costs a ‘token’, and you get one match for ‘free’ when you buy it. If you win, you get another one, but if you lose, you either have to pay the weekly or monthly subscription price or for some reason they will let you buy packs of ‘tokens’ for different prices. It’s very bizarre and I don’t expect this to go well.

This is the same company that launched a Culling 2 that was for sale for maybe a week before the devs pulled the game and issued refunds. That game was a really awful PUBG clone that looked like a lovely mobile game and played worse.
