Conor has real power, but I think a lot of his reputation as this guy who just sleeps dudes or batters them to a really brutal TKO, like in the Aldo and Alvarez fights, comes from him being able to get guys to rush in on him, eat counter shots and double up on that power with their own momentum.

It's really hard to imagine a fight where Floyd is charge in behind a right hand like Eddie Alvarez and repeatedly getting dropped, even if Floyd has aged and slowed down a bunch since he retired.

It's a really dumb fight, but the only way it could not be entertaining is if Floyd just kind of coasts to a decision without landing too much on Conor as Conor follows him around trying to taunt him into a making a mistake or whatever.

It's actually insanely funny that millions of people who casually follow boxing were crazy disappointed with the Manny fight and Floyd's performance in it, and now Floyd is back after two years to charge 100 dollars to watch him fight a guy with no professional boxing fights and apparently people are beyond hyped to fork the cash over again.

I think boxing PPV is having a decent year actually.

Joshua vs Klitschko did 1.5 million ppv buys in the UK, with high ratings on free TV/premium cable around the world.

Canelo Chavez did over a million PPV buys.

The GGG vs Canelo match will probably still do very well, though it will be hurt a bit by the McGregor Mayweather circus show happening so near to it.

I think where boxing probably fails to compete with MMA is in the realm of free events on FS1, ESPN, etc. I don't have the numbers but wouldn't be surprised if the PBC shows that are on FS1 all the time don't come anywhere close to the ratings of the UFC fight night events that happen seemingly every other week.

I doubt he's been knocked out in sparring, but I am waiting on literally any video footage of his sparring.

Even ten seconds that show him looking better than that clip with Van Herden last summer.

The meltdown from delusional MMA guys if/when Mayweather immediately KO's him would be delicious, and might be the only redeeming thing about the fight

I don't think an early KO is likely given that Mayweather usually takes a few rounds to figure out his opponent.

McGregor isn't a defensively strong fighter in MMA, so once Mayweather figures him out I don't think a knockout or hard to watch TKO is that crazy of a result. Especially if McGregor starts to slow down like he did in both Diaz fights and Mayweather is still fresh.

There will not be a rematch. Conor can only box when the UFC allows it, and they felt they needed to give Conor a chance to make life-changing money and hope he's greatful enough to defend his UFC LW belt a couple times. If he says he wants to box again, the UFC will tell him to gently caress off.

If there is any cause for a rematch the UFC will almost certainly let McGregor fight in it as long as they get a cut of the money. Dana can't even guarantee the winner of Ferguson Lee for the Interim 155 belt gets a shot at Conor
