Everything else Retro was fooling around with being: a CEO and founder of a startup company that was more interested in riding that sweet sweet dot com money than actually showing up, putting cameras everywhere, getting obsessive over details like how long employees took for lunch, embezzlement, and unofficial porn hosting on company servers.

So they were basically American Konami? I wasn't aware of all of that.

Oh sakamoto talking about how you'll uncover new riddles and discover the history of the ruins and stuff

It's sakamoto so I'm not excited if he really did have anything to do with this title because who knows what kinda stuff he'd try to retcon in. I just don't want them to gently caress up samus anymore.

They're showing the entire Samus section on stream right now. The full game pulls a MGS2 on you and you play as Adam for the rest of the game.

Beneath the clothes we find a Metroid, but beneath the Metroid we find... his nucleus.

yeah I think he has his companies messed up

That makes more sense. I remember the horror stories about Denis Dyack.

Please move on. I love Metroid but I'd rather play it myself. :(

I really want that squidgy Metroid Amiibo but the Metroid itself is way bigger than it's tank and that really bugs me.

It was originally squished in there. That's why it wanted out.

I hate that Mario + Rabbids looks fun. Why couldn't he have crossed over with Rayman or another good property instead?

I like that the red coin collection noise from Yoshi's Island is still in use. :)

Is there a schedule for Nintendo Treehouse or is it just a grab bag of new announcements and in depth looks?

It'd be cool if Nintendo was actually able to get Switch's out. After showing Kirby and Yoshi my girlfriend is fully on board to get one as that's all you need. But :canada: can't get poo poo.

I haven't seen a Switch on shelves in America either. I'll get one eventually, probably closer to Mario Odyssey's release, but finding one might be a bigger problem than I thought.

I doubt there will be any 3DS announcements as big as Metroid, but I could see something better and more exciting than Sushi Striker finishing up the reveals. Maybe a portable Sonic Mania or something.

The 3DS isn't dead yet, but with the emphasis on the Switch being both a home console and a portable unit, making the "switch" to a single platform makes sense. It unifies their consumer base and lets developers focus on one thing, building a bigger library. Plus, it means our handheld games get prettier. I'm looking forward to better looking Pokemon and Bravely Defaults and the like.

Everything is alive, in fact, it's not pre-scripted.

That sounds to me like, "Worlds will be barren and poorly designed because they're not actually designed at all".

You can get away with things like that for simple, procedurally generated games like Crypt of the Necrodancer or Death Road to Canada, but for a big, 3D, AAA game? It sounds like this big, beautiful thing, but in practice I can almost guarantee there are going to be planets full of No Man's Sky disappointment.

And why do they get what they want?

I remember seeing the trailer for the very first Pirates of the Caribbean in theaters and thinking at first there was going to be a live action Monkey Island movie.

I still want it. :colbert:

vvv The first Mortal Kombat movie was pretty good, considering. Mortal Kombat Annihilation, on the other hand, was so bad it's a gnarled curse upon the planet.
