Doronin: Nov 22, 2002; Don't be scared

I'm binge watching season 1 before I get on season 2. So far, I'm really liking the show. However, is it normal to be really confused with the plot through the first 4 episodes? Or am I just not paying close enough attention?

I'm hoping this is like Legion or Carnivale where I don't get it at all, and suddenly everything just fits together.
