Does anyone know if it's possible to get bulk custom keycaps for cheep? I found things like this: https://www.wasdkeyboards.com/pbt-esc-cherry-mx-keycap.html but the prices don't get cheaper the more you buy. If I wanted to fill a keyboard with that key cap I linked, it'd be like $350. I'd like to order like quantities of 100 to 1000 or so of the same design.

I've been working on a 6 key (2 by 3) DIY mechanical keyboard kit. If you'd like a free kit and are willing to give me some feedback - please shoot me a DM.

Does anyone have experience with purchasing one of these molds off of Amazon and making your own key caps? https://www.amazon.com/Silicone-Mec...610&sr=8-4&th=1 How was it? All the tutorials I can find are for building your own molds and then making keycaps.

Has anyone done the custom art WASDKeyboards key caps? I can't quite tell what color the plastic of the keycap ends up having.

What would you guys say are the two most popular cherry mx switch styles that are different in feeling? Would red and brown be the answer? (I'm working on a Kickstarter and don't want to offer all styles so I just want to offer the two most popular distinct ones.)

I'm currently designing a keyboard kit and trying to figure out the most popular color schemes I should pursue. If you want to look at a bunch of (hopefully nice) colors schemes and help me out you can do so at the link below.

Stroop There It Is posted:

This looks fun, responded! It won't be programmable with QMK, will it?
Thanks! To be honest, in my several months of research I've heard of QMK several times but have never looked into it. I have several different code examples in Arduino that work with things like media keys, Zoom hot keys, photo editing, etc. In my opinion, they're pretty easy to modify.

A copy command would look like:
code:
Keyboard.press(KEY_LEFT_CTRL);
Keyboard.press('c');
And a play next song command would look like:
code:
Consumer.press(MEDIA_KEY_NEXT);
Do you think I'd benefit from trying to figure out QMK support?

Almost done with my "Build your own keyboard kit". Tried designing a 9 key PCB this time. Chose the wrong footprint for the diodes so everything looks a bit silly. Hopefully next batch of PCBs will be the last order. KiCAD + JLCPCB make for a great combo of designing and manufacturing boards.

Anyone know where I might get non rectangular keycaps? I feel like the answer is probably 3D printing. I'd love to recreate the Wolfclaw Keyboard - http://www.techwarelabs.com/reviews/peripherals/wolfclaw_type_2/printpage.html

What keycap profile for a Cherry MX key would you guys suggest for a macropad?

I am launching a Kickstarter soon for a build your own mechanical keyboard kit. It's a 6 key keyboard you solder and program yourself. I want critical feedback on all parts of the Kickstarter. I'll happily send you a kit for your feedback. If you're interested - shoot me a DM.

What places would you guys suggest for bulk Cherry MX switch purchasing? Just looking for the basic ones like red or brown. I saw this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/kvcw9f/kbdfans_packaging_should_we_bubble_wrap_it_nah/

And was originally going to order from KBDFans but decided maybe I should look elsewhere.

Hey all - I've been working on a Build Your Own Keyboard kit for the past few months and I've shared here a few times and some of you wanted to know when it'd be available. If you're curious how mechanical keyboards work and would want to build your own or just want a new 6 key macropad - I invite you to check it out. https://pp2.dev/byoks

Seems neat. Did you already post a thread in Geekhack or Keebtalk?

Thanks! I had not. I'll check them out.
