I wasn't, but then a week ago a wild whim grabbed me as I was looking at my bookcase and I started reading it and this time it actually clicked! The writing is so incredibly good, it's great!

The stupidest game I ever bought for full price on steam was A Valley Without Wind, Arcen's, uh, attempt at a platformer. In some ways I don't regret it - the visual design was interesting and some of the sections were fun to play - but the rest of me is consumed with how flawed it was, and how I spent fifteen whole freaking dollars on it when it's at most a five dollar game.

Some of their games are genuinely good - Starward Rogue comes to mind - but in general, oof.

I love them for their weird ideas, I hate them because damnit, they need an editor, polish, and cleaner UI.

e: Holy flipflaps it opens with the protagonist's grandpa dying. And. Uh. My IRL grandpa is in the final stages of cancer, so... it's a different situation. My grandpa and I have a strained relationship, he's in another state so I hear about him through phonecalls with my aunt and grandma, and he's not... the kindest person, but. The game went right for the heart, and with some good writing, to boot. drat.

e2: The town in this game is almost exactly like the place where I grew up, except that it somehow has a bus station, and its park is empty at night. (Ours has wild skateboarders and apparently there's a drug scene?)
