Health: 10/10 HP
Skills: Enchantment:5d6, Curative Magic: 4d6 Powers: Holy Smite: 2d6 Defenses: Aegis of Camelot: 4d6 Talent: Prismatic Refraction

Skills:
Enchantment: [5d6] - From the wellsprings of Creation lies hidden powers which await those who would carry the burdens of limitless potential. Through her connection to the Divine Creation via the Order of the Pristine Depths, Vivien unlocks dormant powers found in the ethereal planes to affect the material world directly through magical enhancements. Similarly, this knowledge of enchanting can be used to identify, assess, and potentially dissipate the enchantments of others.

Curative Magic: [4d6] - As a wielder of the Holy Arts, Vivien is a sworn protector of the just and the living. She utilizes her training in the Divine Art of Curative Magic to heal the wounded, to repair the injured, to cure the sick, and to release the dying. This shining, blessed water that Vivien draws from the ethereal planes flows effortlessly through the air, controlled by the Enchantress's will. The ethereal water's healing energy contains a trace of Time Magic, which serves to undo the damage of injuries that have been wrought by the passage of time.

Powers:
Holy Smite: [2d6] - In times where direct intervention is absolutely necessary, Vivien focuses upon energies drawn from the Holy Elemental Plane of Order forged within Excalibur, the legendary sword of Arthur, and uses it to smite her foes with a searing slash of raw divine energy.

Defenses:
Aegis of Camelot: [4d6] - The Divine Order of the Pristine Depths is the holy protectorate of Camelot, and likewise the magics built into Camelot serve to protect the knights and priestesses of the Order, even from afar. This divine shielding fashioned by the wizard Merlin creates a shimmering bubble of holy force around Vivien, protecting her from harm.

Talent:
Prismatic Refraction: [Vanilla] - Vivien's mastery of the Pristine Depths allows her to refract and reshape the spectrum of ethereal energies cast by her powers, splitting their effects evenly among whomsoever she chooses. On a successful talent roll, Vivien can affect an extra 1d4 targets with her actions and skills for the rest of the floor. Her efforts are divided evenly between the targets she selects.

Vivien stood before the Endless Maw of Chaos and gazed below. She had followed the voice of the little girl thus far, and it had brought her to the very cusp of The Dungeon itself. The Divine Order of the Pristine Depths had given her a quest, and she would follow that cause to her very end if necessary. She stepped beyond the precipice and felt a familiar surge of power as the ethereal energies of the Pristine Depths swirled around her protectively, raising the hairs on the back of her neck.

Initiative - Warning Bells Cantrip: 5d6 18

As soon as she walked through the Dungeon's first door, Vivien lurched to her feet as the solid ground beneath her shifted to become the bottom of a boat. Vivien's Warning Cantrip flared up, signaling the omnipresence of danger. She tentatively took stock of her strange new surroundings, noting all immediate threats and assessing others for potential allies. Releasing her tensions and her expectations for the Dungeon's first floor, she let her powers suffuse the air around her so that she was bathed in a glowing rainbow aura. She deftly manipulated the shapes of those energies swirling around her into glimmering ethereal bubbles of swirling colors, and she tried to pluck out multiple distinct hues at the same time. Pop - pop - pop! Her talent activated:

Talent: Prismatic Refraction: 1

When it was done, only one tint of her energy prevailed. An inauspicious start, Vivien mused. She would need to choose her targets wisely for this section of the Dungeon if she wanted to make it to the next floor alive. She pursed her lips in consternation and prepared to cast a simple Levitation spell upon herself, so as to help her walk across the toxin-filled water unscathed...

Suddenly, she felt a small tug at the hem of her dress and turned around.

It was a tiny, floating knight, pointing a fractalized lance in her direction and issuing heroic declarations of chivalrous intent... how curiously odd! Vivien hadn't noticed this diminutive Delver earlier, but it looks as though they were in the same boat together!

The small and proud little knight wanted to jump into the deadly waters in order to push the boat to shore. Given its insanely small stature it seemed highly unlikely that it would work, but Vivien wasn't going to allow a well-meaning warrior to kill itself in the process - not on her behalf! Besides, whatever it was, the tiny squeaking thing was kind of adorable.

Channeling her powers of enchantment, Vivien creates a toxin-resistant bubble around the young glitchie knightcerer.

Vivien called out to her strangely compact savior: the miniature knight that had defied reality with impossible swimming skills. How exactly had the sprite's mysterious power pushed the boat to such an incredible speed? What method was it that let the pixie-spirit phase through the very matter of reality like it was naught but sawdust?

"A proper hail and well met is deserved, fellow Dungeon-delver! It was Cepi Yu, wasn't it? Vivien Lumière-" She paused and watched the knightcerer flicker in place.

"I must thank you: it is certainly fortuitous to meet someone so chivalrous as you, and so close to the entrance too!" Vivien wasn't sure if she knew how to address the curiously chaotic being properly. "Ah.."

"That was a strange battlecry you uttered earlier while you were phasing through the metal fabric of the boat. What language was that?"

Vivien had to remind herself that - despite her protective instincts - she wasn't actually dealing with a child but rather a childish mentality, one that had yet selflessly thrown caution to the wind for her sake. Vivien reminded herself once again of the pixie's bizarrely-manifested powers, and nodded in assent to the tiny creature.

"I trust you'll be able to handle yourself without my assistance for the time being?"

Vivien's eye had been caught by two of the other Dungeon-delvers that chanced to be nearby: ones that she deemed needed her help the most.

One of them was the primary occupant of the other boat - the boat that was drawing all the magi-tek artillery fire - that young Demon Summoner and her hell imps. She may be oriented towards the blacker summoning magics, but her immense firepower was making short work of the enemy's defenses. A passing vampire had redirected the witch's boat for its own purposes and she risked taking a direct hit to the hull.

Vivien spun her magics about the witch, Stefania. This should help her and her troublesome ilk survive the magical onslaught:

Enchanting: Concussive Magi-Shield on Stefania: 5d6 16

Vivien's other target was a cat, a cat attempting to leap across the caustic chemical ocean to a trap-infested beach. How did it get in here, anyway? What made it think it could possibly jump so far? Vivien had to spare the poor creature an assuredly deadly bath.

Vivien peered out from the safety of the metal boat and looked out upon the battle-strewn beach. She knew that there was a large cream-colored Egg nestled in the very epicenter of the war-torn beach, right where all the fighting was focused. That must be something terribly significant to the dungeon! Vivien knew, deep down - it was important that she make it there in one piece along with the others. Then and only then could she find out what the Egg meant for their survival.

But how to make it past the other delvers fighting amidst the intense barrages of magi-tek weaponsfire? Vivien knew of just the spell to overcome such unwanted attention - one that redirected an attacker's blows to strike against them, be they near or far. She summoned up her knowledge of the arcane Reflection spell: it comprised of a complicated network of mental sigils and precise gestures to form the interlocking wards. She felt the spell slotting into place around her and she pushed on it.

Enchanting: Buffing Reflect onto Aegis of Camelot: 5d6-4d6: 14-15 = -1

Enchanting: Invisibility on Self: 5d6 11

As Vivien's appearance began fading from view, she darted out from her cover and made her way across the beach. She walked briskly but lightly, keeping low alongside any available cover. She did her best to avoiding making physical contact with any of the other Delvers on the beach (to avoid inciting panic), seeking only to find the safest and most direct pathway to the Egg.

If no one else got to it first, that precious unborn creature of chaos was going to be hers.

Vivien had witnessed the obelisk's attack, had seen the way the blood-red beam of magi-focused light had lanced across the beach and landed upon that hapless adventurer, sizzling his very bones to ash in an instant like so much dragon's fire. Viven knew that that her curative magics would have no way of reversing damage on someone that extensive, especially not when the remains have been so utterly vaporized. She thanked her blessed stars that the obelisk had not noticed her - but if it had, then she was glad that it had targeted someone else for total obliteration.

Vivien didn't know what the accursed obelisk was designed to protect (other than the beach itself), but she had a hunch - it all had to do with that thrice-damned Egg! The egg was surrounded by the small bipedal dragonfolk, armed to their sharp teeth with more of that magi-focused light beam weaponry.

Wreathed in the safety of her invisibility enchantment, Vivien had all the time in the world to get into position and put herself into a spellcasting trance. She knew just the spell - she'd tried it before and only nearly met with success. Reflection: a complicated network of mental sigils and precise gestures form the spell's interlocking wards. She felt the enchantment slotting into place around her and her ethereal Aegis and she pushed on it.

Enchanting: Buffing Reflect onto Aegis of Camelot: 5d6-4d6 2

Ah, such welcome success! The mirror-bubble in Vivien's mind coalesced into reflective semi-being around her. Try firing your beams at me now, you scaly obelisk-worshippers! You'll only be firing on yourselves! She stifled a giggle, too busy trying to imagine all the Kobolds' shocked faces.

Vivien could feel her invisibility spell starting to spark and fizzle in the swirling aether around her, and she knew that the time to act was now. The next part of her plan would be absolutely essential:

Laying claim on Egg: 1d100 94

She leaned down and plucked up the Egg from its protective holster at the center of the war-torn beach. In a conspiratorial tone, Vivien whispered to the Egg. "Don't worry child, you'll be safe with me."

Lifting the Egg high over her head with both arms, she dismissed her invisibility spell in its entirety and yelled "CEASE FIRE IMMEDIATELY oh creatures of chaos or I shall destroy your precious progeny!"

Vivien had threatened them! Oh, she had warned them all what would happen if they fired upon her - and yet they did so anyway! It was infuriating! Creatures of Chaos had no respect for the rules of engagement!

Vivien sizzled with pent-up frustration as she patted out the smoldering hotspots on her robes. The glassed beach around her was still billowing with the smoke and noxious steam that was created by the intense heat of the concentrated lasgun fire. Her arcane defenses had, rather thankfully, held out against the very worst of the Obelisk's main attacks, but even then it took the brave assistance of the proud knight Cepi Yu to allay the worst of it.

Vivien made a mental note to thank the small warrior, yet again, and in such a short period of time, too!

First - however - Vivien had to do something unforgivable: she had to be complicit in the culling of an innocent. She had warned them, after all! Vivien took the Egg of Chaos from above her head and threw it downward with all her might, dashing its shell against the rocks and glass at her feet. She had prepared to unleash a torrent of Curative Magic immediately afterward, to keep whatever she found inside alive and healthy. What she didn't expect to find was that the Egg's contents were not alive per se, not in the traditional sense at least...

Curiously, what she found inside the Egg was not an unborn kobold king, but a beautifully Regal Crown. Vivien lifted the crown and placed it delicately upon her head, replacing the charmed circlet that had all but turned to slag in the Obelisk's onslaught... A psychic link with the Crown became established. All was made clear to Vivien: she was safe now.

Right. Let's see the Kobolds will fire upon their rightfully-crowned ruler now!

Crown of the Kobold King: 1d4 2

For her first act as the reigning Kobold queen, Vivien had to get to her throne atop that contemptible Obelisk, and to do that she needed to be out of the line of fire. As it was, she was still pinned down by the constant onslaught of bunker guns barraging her position with shells and lasgun fire.

She summoned up an enchantment to throw her voice across the entire battlefield, so she could be heard by friend, foe, and delver alike. Loud-Speaker, it was called. Vivien summoned up the sigils necessary to make her voice like that of a giant, broadcast directly to the minds of those within ethereal reach.

Enchanting: Loud-Speaker on Self: 5d6 13 (vs. dc 13 Pinned Obstacle = Success )

Vivien boomed, "CEASE FIRE! Stand down, by order of your rightful QUEEN!"

She paused to let that commandment sink in. She hoped the Crown would give her words some extra weight, at least where the Kobolds were concerned.

"My loyal subjects: you shall put down your arms and grant the Dungeon-Delvers safe passage to the Obelisk."

Vivien felt strangely guilty for tricking the Kobolds like this. Surely this was normal for the Dungeon - normal to make sacrifices to Chaos in order to pursue the delving of it. Vivien just wasn't certain that it was normal for her to make such bargains with Chaotic beings - not so soon, at least. She had already traded precious life-energy for the acquisition of the Egg, and now this Crown was making demands of her, too. Surely, the Egg (and thus the Crown) was the key to solving the riddle of this Dungeon floor. Perhaps, then, it was necessary to follow the will of the Crown, to follow its advice to the next logical solution. The Crown was of the Dungeon: it knew what the Dungeon wanted of its delvers.

It was probably best to acquiesce, anyway. She had responsibilities to her people now.

For example, Vivien saw that the vampire from before was recovering from several impressive wounds and was rabidly attacking her new favorite lizardman leader, the Kobold Kommander. Vivien knew she had to put a stop to that deathmatch, especially if she wanted to keep kobold and Dungeon-delver tensions at bay.

Vivien yelled into her Loud-Speaker enchantment for all to hear. "I said 'CEASE FIRE' and 'stand down,' my Kommander!"

She fired off her magics to throw a protective bubble around the Kobold Kommander, just to be safe. Good marksmen were so hard to find these days, and that blood-soaked vampire was looking awfully angry...

Enchanting: Pacifist's Guardian on Kobold Kommander: 5d6 13

It was a Pacifist's Guardian enchantment, a powerful protective spell for the truly peaceful. It prevents attacks from coming in and blocks attacks from going out. After all she'd been through, Vivien didn't want anyone else getting hurt - not on her watch!

It was a startling sensation, being lifted and carried by someone far smaller than yourself. Nevertheless, the sprite-like Cepi Yu had done it, though Vivien had no idea how. Perhaps it involved some sort of luck-based sorcery? No, that was far too elegant a solution than what she was seeing. Whatever enchantments the Knightcerer was weaving into its tiny frame, it was decidedly a messy yet potent affair. Was reshaping the very laws of reality the inherent magical domain of the Glitchies, then? Vivien needed to know more.

Without much apparent effort, the small knight had smoothly bounded upwards to the top of the Obelisk, bearing Vivien's weight as though she were naught but a feather. From up here, she could see it all:

Crown of the Kobold King: 1d4 1

Her domain.

She surveyed the scraggly, pitted cliffs and the war-torn beach laid out before her, stretching endlessly to either horizon. At one end, she spotted some explosions and weapons' fire. There were others still fighting! After she had loudly declared a cease-fire from everyone, no less!

"Stop attacking each other! I said, 'Lay down your arms!'" She cried out, funneling her voice into whatever remained of her Loud-Speaker enchantment.

She saw that her Kobold Kommander was in danger of being killed and drained by that pesky vampire with the poor hearing and the poorer self-control. Vivien directed her curative magics to swirl around the Kobold leader and infuse his ethereal body with healing energy, borrowing health from the target's future in order to restore it to how it had appeared in the past.

"I beseech you, my Kommander," she intoned, "Stop. Stop your madness or this breath shall be your last!"

Curative Magic: Healing the Kobold Kommander: 4d6 9

She felt the deaths of two more more of her warriors, sharply- like two cold, wet slaps across the face. She reeled with the imperious need to rebuke the perpetrator, angrily.

Vivien roared with fury into her Loud-Speaker enchantment for all to hear. "I said 'CEASE FIRE' and 'stand down,' Fortune Teller!"

Holy Smite: Smacking the Fortune Teller: 2d6 11

A shimmering spot appeared in the air above Wilma's head, glowing brighter in intensity until it sparked and flung itself at the woman with unyielding force. The fist of pure blazing light blasted the befuddled woman with a flashing *whap* across the noggin. If only there weren't so many Dungeon-delvers around, the Kobolds would be safe!

The Cat leapt up onto Vivien's shoulder and mewled into her ear. At that very moment, a spell over Vivien had been broken.

Vivien rips the Regal Crown off her head.

"What am I doing, committing such wanton violence against others?" She looked down at the Regal Crown with disgust.

Clearly this crown must be the key to it all... She looked around her at the Obelisk's climax, seeing the other Delvers assembling at the peak, looking to her, expectant.

"Of course - it IS the key!"

Vivien places the Regal Crown on the crown-shaped depression at the top of the Obelisk.

Vivien had never encountered a staircase so long and so perfectly circular. Its very dimensions seemed to defy the laws of nature! One moment she was descending, and the next moment she was hours ahead of herself, seemingly no further ahead than where she was before. It was mind-boggling, enough so that she needed to completely re-orient herself chronomantically when she came across an unremarkable door set into the wall, and poked her head inside.

Chrono-Curative Attunement: Initiative: 4d6 15

Oh? What's this - a war room, complete with a map and controls? But this was no regular map on that table, hm... Vivien walked inside and glanced about the room. Seven plush chairs surrounded the table, and every spare surface bore a number of trays and bowls, each containing a veritable bounty of strange vittles. What a comfortable space for entertaining! Why, there was hardly any danger to be found here at all! Vivien placed a single kernel of popped corn in her mouth and let the morsel dissolve exquisitely.

Vivien's heightened senses, which had initially been poised and alert, relaxed with each new discovery. With this second floor of the Dungeon came entirely new rules of engagement, and that clearly meant that it was time to take a different tack as the floor prior.

Releasing her tensions and her expectations for the Dungeon's second floor, she let her powers suffuse the air around her so that she was bathed in a glowing rainbow aura. She deftly manipulated the shapes of those energies whirling around her into glimmering ethereal bubbles of iridescent colors, and she tried to pluck out multiple distinct hues at the same time. Pop - pop - pop! Her talent activated:

Talent: Prismatic Refraction: 2#1d4 3 2 (Success! Vivien can affect up to 1+2=3 targets!)

When all was said and done, three tints of her energy remained: azure blue, indigo, and bottle green. This way, she would be able to bathe the table with her inner light's blessings. But speaking of blessings...

Vivien looked around her at the other Deepdelvers that had made it into this room. Apparently, these were both her allies AND her opponents (at least in the sense that they would be playing an idle game together!). There was the Cat, the Witch, the Knight, the Vampire, and the... Fortune Teller?!? She was real? Not that it mattered any more, but Vivien had been absolutely certain, completely positive that all the Dungeon delvers that she had seen being shot at by Kobolds and succumbing to noxious vapors and acidic waters were but mere illusions, distractions that were intentionally being put in her way so as to test her resolve. She had thought that the Fortune Teller was but yet another diversion from her quest that the Dungeon had created for her, to push her into acting incorrigably and without sensitivity to the plight of others.

"Oh my goodness gracious - by the divine Creator I must apologize to you from the bottom of my heart! I have no idea what came over me..."

Swirling bubbles of ethereal magic permeated the air around Wilma the Fortune Teller, reversing the very nature of her wounds and causing them to heal.

Curative Magic: Healing Wilma: 4d6 15

"My name is Vivien. Let us be friends and allies from here on out."

Taking a chair beside the table, Vivien surveyed the grand map set before them. She fiddled with some dials and set them back to their starting positions, perplexed.

"Excuse me, but I'm afraid I don't know how this game is played. You all go on ahead - I'll go last and watch what the rest of you are doing first."

Near the center of the map, Vivien spies what looks like a bridge that crosses the river and leads into ruined wasteland.

Vivien picked up the Cat and put it beneath the table where it belonged. Surely the Cat would come bounding back onto the table (as Cats are wont to do), but Vivien needed a second to think without the Cat's chaos ruining the the sanctity of the board game they were trying to play.

Vivien looked at the works of her fellow players. The Vampire, the Witch, AND the Knight had all elevated their own Peoples from seemingly nowhere, and they all needed help of some kind. They needed food, they needed shelter, they needed resources and skills besides. The Cat, on the other hand, had acted only as a cat would, merely playing with the smaller creatures like a lion would a mouse. The other woman in the room, however...

Vivien tutted to herself as she watched her new friend - the Fortune Teller Wilma - kick and smack at the table with her ring-laden hands and her gaudy shoes as though it had personally wronged her. Was the old woman trying to stuff a paper currency into a slot at the base of the table? This woman was certainly strange, but she still deserved to be relieved of the burden of her wounds...

Hold on, Vivien thought, hadn't she just attempted to cure the other woman of her injuries? A blinking diode emblem emblazoned across the panel in front of Vivien caught her attention. Interesting. She had what was called one (1) "Dominion," according to the game's infographics. Had her turn already come and gone? She touched a set of intuitive glyphs and found herself reviewing a comprehensive history of what exactly she'd done to affect the expansive world somehow teeming with life far below her. Apparently the table had redirected, absorbed, and transmitted the curative magic she'd directed at Wilma through the world's moon...

"Hey, that was my magic, not yours!" She quietly chided the table and wagged an accusatory finger. There was some kind of absorption-attuned Chaos magic at work here, surely.

Nonetheless, being praised as a goddess of the Moon had its own benefits. "Lumos, the Painter" they called her, tableside. Vivien blushed at the thought, adding a little rouge to her pallid cheek. They must think quite highly of her, in any case - it must be the right thing then, to act in kind. Vivien knew she had to act as kindly and reliably as the Moon itself - quite a tall order, considering all the Peoples down below!

She looked to her options:
The Glitchies, championed by Cepi Yu,
The Goblins, commanded by the Vampiress (Nezera), at war with
The Imps Scorchers, summoned by the Witch (Stefania), all of whom are besieged by
The Armies of Prey, ruled only by their hunger and cowardice.

All of them in some way worshiped the moon.

All of them were cold. No longer.

She layered her magics with the inner flames of heat, passion, protection and inspiration into her life-sustaining healing magic.

She would help those that were least able to fend for themselves, one turn at a time.

She navigated the table's myriad menus, placed her three target markers on three of the Armies of Prey that she could spot on the board: two to the west (by the Glitchie forest) and one to the east (by the dormant volcano).

Legend has it these monstrous armies of the wretched were once peoples from peaceful and plentiful societies. Let's bring them back to their former states of glory with a little chronomantically-attuned healing magic.

Vivien looked upon the effects of her works with astonishment and glee apparent on her face. The Armies of Prey, disbanded? How wonderful! That meant that the more civilized races on the board would be safe for now. The scorchers and the little goblin-folk were getting along marvelously, and the glitchie people had suddenly flourished... seemingly overnight (it seems as if some grievous error had been made in their favor)! Even the monsters of the land had a region they could call their own, to roam freely (for now). It was fantastic! If only there was a way to make the world of the board a little warmer, for everyone...

She focused her controls' three reticules on the same location (the dormant volcano in the northeast) and attempted to conjure up her favorite spell for times like these: Mana Wellspring. It tapped into the aqueous nature of her curative magic and turned it into a kind of liquid magical sustenance, good for uplifting the magical potential of humans and beasts alike. She planned to plant this wellspring deep within the heart of the dormant volcano, to feed its fires via magical means into making it magically active. With luck and skill, she could get the whole world heated to a reasonable temperature...

Enchanting: Buffing Mana Wellspring onto Curative Magic: 5d6-4d6 -8 - Failure!

The sigils and glyphs upon the board's controls weren't being conducive to her combining her magics in such a way, it would seem. Undeterred, Vivien proceeded with her next-best plan: creating a sacred site for Glitchie, for Goblin and Scorcher and Monster and Ex-Prey alike. It was a lesser way of heating up the world, certainly, but it could make all the difference to the right people in need.

She cast her watery curative magics upon the volcano tile of the board, hoping to create a magical region of healing hotsprings.

Vivien looked upon the console's screen on her end of the war table and tutted to herself. Tied with the imp witch for third place? Darn. She had been having so much fun watching all the pieces on the board move around and interact with each other that she completely forgot that she was supposed to be engaged in direct competition with everyone else. She supposed it wasn't surprising that the game by default would require its players to be divided between winners and losers. Still...

The Knight had somehow glitched the system into an unequivocal game victory for herself. The Cat and the Vampire had also fared well in their own tiny fiefdoms. All three of them were allowed to leave by way of the secret door. Wilma the fortune teller, however, seemed to vanish from the Dungeon without a trace - even the ghosts that frequently haunted her must have been removed from the Dungeon entirely, since Vivien could no longer detect their ethereal presence. Is that what happened to the losers? Lost forever in time and space? Vivien knew she no longer wanted to be stuck in this room.

"Console - an exit please." She declared to the table at large.

She pushed the 'confirm' button for added emphasis.

"Okay. Game is over. Third place. Got it." She pushed the 'confirm' and 'cancel' buttons a few more times but it made no difference. The screen still showed 'Vivien, aka Lumos the Painter, 3rd Place - - - DOOR ERROR' and she didn't know what to do. Pushing buttons didn't seem to help, so she conjured up a little bit of magic on her end to get the gears running again.

There was a magical enchanter's trick Vivien had learned, one that was good for dealing with faulty machines, stuttering clockwork and disobedient golems. "Percussive Maintenance," it was called, and as spells go it required a plethora of minor cleaning and repair enchantments to be applied (such as grease, vibromancy, static field, runic-checking, etc), tacked onto a swift-striking magic attack. Basically the idea was to throw as much elbow grease as possible at a machine and then kickstart it with a bit of magical oomph to get it working right again.

She began preparing the spell:
Preparing 'Percussive Maintenance' Spell (Enchanting + Holy Smite): 5d6-2d6 11 - Success!

"Oh, great console that would bind us here in this room of pretty, petty distractions - let us be free! Deny us your error and show us the way out!

She released the shimmering bolt of transformative energy directly through the immense table, which careened and struck the console with divine forces as though delivering it a blow across the cheek.

Percussive Maintenance against the Console: 7d6 25

Hopefully that would snap some sense into it.

e: If that doesn't work:

To Stefania: "Uhm, would you mind flipping a coin for us both? I call tails."

No sooner had Vivien mouthed the words "Sorry" to Stefania than the two of them were separated, whisked away to completely different Floors of the Dungeon. Vivien caught up with the others just as they made it to the chosen door - a portal bearing a sign depicting a fallen man.

Vivien was the last of her traveling companions to step through the doorway, and she seized with a start when the door clicked behind her, its frame blending in seamlessly within the material of the wall itself. There was no turning back now! She renewed her warning spells, designed to prevent these sorts of mishaps from occurring without some basic level of prescience.

Initiative - Warning Bells Cantrip: 5d6 16

Her warning bells flared just before the lights came on. A bizarrely-lit theatrical display erupted from the darkness as if summoned from thin air. It was a kobold host engaging a live audience in a packed theater of cheering monsters. Some kind of competitive gladiatorial match was underway, and she was one of the game's contestants! Vivien knew what that meant - it was time to find out how many of her allies she would be allowed to help at once. She split her glowing aqueous energies into four different spherical energy spectrums, and then divided them all once more -

Prismatic Refraction: 2#1d4 1 4 - Failure! (Max targets this floor: 1)

The bubbles all burst and merged, leaving only one large, prismatic sphere remaining of Vivien's energy, glowing like the giant spotlights that hung above them in the sky.

Vivien listened to the Kobold host yipping away. Sounds like there was going to be a serious amount of lasers-fire in the upcoming match. Great - Vivien had just the enchantment for that.

Vivien found herself in the middle of an impromptu swamp that had spontaneously arrived beneath her feet. The illusion felt all too real - it was complete with looming trees with clinging branches that were thick with hanging moss, their rotted trunks mired in the murky black muck that extended all directions. Was that a floating log drifting her way, or something far more nefarious? Best not to find out - the only way out of this place seemed to be forward. Vivien gingerly stepped upon the rocks and roots and partially-overgrown pathways that brought her closer to her destination.

There was a rope bridge that overlooked the deepest point of the swamp, and waiting for them all at the end of that bridge was a hydra. Vivien consulted her arcane knowledge of hydras from ancient lore and legend, and she knew of their mythic weakness: fire applied to its wounds. Vivien realized far too late that Stefania (the imp-witch with all the fire powers) should be the one here for this challenge, not her. If anyone could survive being submerged in a vat of corrosive acids, it would be Vivien, and if anyone could defeat the Hydra with fire, it would be Stefania! It stood to reason that this setup was completely unsuited to Vivien's talents... Nonetheless, she had to try or Stefania would die.

Just as soon as Vivien had closed her eyes and extended her arms to begin her incantations, the Cat jumped from a height and onto her shoulder and mewed in her ear. Aw, poor kitty! Vivien couldn't help but be completely distracted by the thing. We're those las-gun scorch marks on its dusty, furry flank, or was she just imagining things? The cat seemed none too worse for the wear, but she extended the bubble of her Aegis around the small companion just the same.

Vivien protects Cat this round!

That sorted, Vivien realized with sudden clarity that the shades and spirits that had been lurking in the shadows all this time were none other than Stefania's imps! The realization was immediately reassuring to her. Suddenly she had cat to protect and an entourage of expendable allies to bolster her offenses against the hideous hydra!

Vivien tapped into her impish compatriot's connection to their master. There was a hidden trick to them of course - Vivien couldn't control them, but just as she could banish them back to the hellplane they came from she could also bolster them from the hellplane they came from. It was a matter of activating their innate potential, as determined by their creator's mana sources. Casting this enchantment from Stefania's mana pool was the closest Vivien would ever bring herself to casting a "hell"-class spell, and deep down she relished the opportunity.

In one moment, Vivien had been facing down the fearsome Hydra with Cat sitting upon her shoulder, both of them poised for anything. In the next moment, everything wrong seemed to happen all at once. The multi-headed beast lunged precisely in their direction just as Cat leapt from Vivien's shoulder. Cat was somehow snagged out of the air by one of the hydra's many mouths just as another hydra head lashed its neck out past Vivien and looped itself around her, wrapping her up in its constricting grasp. As the snake-like appendage tightened itself around Vivien it exuded a thick orange syrup that seeped from between its scales that was gooey and incredibly sticky to the touch. The adhesive, sickly-sweet fluid began welling up in volume and growing thicker around her, even as she suffocated from the hydra's vice-like grip. Vivien's entire body was soaked through and through with the stuff, and as the thick liquid swelled over her head she took a final, crushing breath and made a fervent prayer to the gods above for a painless release...

Encased in that sweet, sticky darkness, Vivien could feel the life being strangled out of her just as something terrible happened to the hydra that caused it to thrash and flail and let her go. With a wet sound, she fell to the ground in a viscous, sticky heap and took a deep, rasping breath to fill her lungs.

The Hydra was gone, vanished or else moved elsewhere. Judging from the paved roads beneath her, they had been magically teleported somewhere else. Another part of the Dungeon floor?

Vivien pulled herself to her hands and knees, coated in the tacky orange goop. She coughed and sputtered and gagged, ultimately spitting up a glob of thick syrup that was trying to slide its way down her throat. Her chakras had been utterly defiled by this orange sickly-sweet viscous goo and - was all this caramel? Vivien dragged a fingertip across her sticky cheek and gave the goo and an experimental taste. Her eyes lit up - delicious!

Vivien's chakras are Sugar-Coated! She is so sweet she cannot harm a thing, even through indirect means!

Vivien took stock of her new surroundings. She grabbed a goggle-eyed passerby by the shoulders with her sticky hands and asked the man a couple questions. With some magical assistance, things became plain:

She was in some kind of city filled with a healthy population of vampiric thralls - she could tell that by the empty gaze in the man's eye and the sunken pallor in his flesh alone. They were all running about in a semi-panic, fleeing one thing and searching for something or other. The Hydra and the Titan were to be avoided at all costs and the Kobold Kommander was to be apprehended. The thrall's leader was the Countess, named Nezera Amaris... now where had Vivien heard that name before?

Vivien tapped into the magical links of the mindthrall standing before her and quickly realized that the vampire he served was none other than that Vampire girl that Vivien had been traveling with all this time. Small world! Even though they'd never been formally introduced, Vivien realized she had a newfound respect for this undead being named Nezera. After all, it's not every day you get to say you've fought alongside a Countess!

Where had she gone, anyway? Vivien had last seen Nezera limping off in the direction of the city center. Vivien decided to send some of her restorative healing energies in the vampire's direction. The girl had been seriously injured over the course of this Dungeon's delving, and here she was, no doubt standing before her people as their leader having just returned in the middle of a cataclysm. Maybe the Countess could benefit by having a little more bounce in her step!

Curative Magic: Restoring the Health of the Vampire Countess Nezera: 4d6 12

Vivien turned suddenly at the sound of the Titan approaching from behind her. As soulless machines go, its scale was staggering. When the pilots' hatch opened and she realized it was full of friendlies (and that there was a seat inside for her) she eased somewhat, but only slightly. Vivien, still soaked in the sticky sugar-sap, climbed the column of rungs along the side of the titan's leg and pulled herself inside the hatch that led inside. She plopped down on a leather seat and swung herself in front of her section's sigil console. It reminded her of the magitek buttons in the war room. Everything was going to get sticky if she touched anything, though... Oh well - there was no helping it: there were lives at stake!

From her console, Vivien decided to cast a spell designed to effectively increase the Titan's evasion. "Here goes nothing!" she cried as she flipped the switch.

Enchanting: Shimmering Aura on the War-Hound Class Imperial Titan: 5d6 22

All at once, the Titan gave off a shimmering haze of refracted light that disguised its exact position of the mighty mech. The magical aura gives off a series of confusing, distorted, and scrambled images, which makes it hard for enemies to score precise hits.

Vivien found the jostling, jerking, and jarring motions from being inside the guts of a gigantic mechanical being to quite the unnerving experience. Although, once she had her safety restraints properly affixed and fitted in place it didn't seem nearly as bad. The safety video's visual aids had been rather helpful in instructing Vivien how to attach the seat's belt buckles to each other to keep her from moving about too much.

"I think I'm getting the hang of this~!" she declared triumphantly to her copilots seated elsewhere within the machine-beast. Vivien's console lit up in a series of familiar glyphs. She selected one and prepared the proper incantations.

"I'm going to set us up with an illusion spell - it should increase our defenses while we attack!"

Once the battlecraft's defenses had been raised, Vivien found herself looking at a colorful panel detailing the health readouts of the Titan's riders. What was that about the Cat that seemed... different?

Once the vampiric township, the hideous hydra, and the magical, mechanical monstrosity they were all piloting had vanished, Vivien Lumière found herself staring at a trio of doors, curiously displayed before them in bright and enticing colors. The Trial of Challenges demanded that they each select a door, did it now? Unbelievable prizes were promised to the lucky individual who chose the right door...

When in doubt, Vivien had always felt that she was morally obligated to "do the right thing, at all times," and so it came as no surprise that, when prompted, she chose the Green Door on the right.

Whatever would come from that decision was Vivien's burden to bear.

Vivien followed the rest of her companions outside the floor containing the Trial of Challenges, and found herself once again in the never-ending staircase, ever-winding downward.

They were stopped at the next floor, where a second trio of doors beckoned their way. This time, the doors bore cautionary markings, as if hinting at the dangers to come.

Vivien looked at the signs on the doors and she looked at her companions. A vampire, a witch, a sprite-knight, and a cat...

"Surely the door with the winding paths would be safest for the cat." Vivien ventured. "Cats like squiggly lines, don't they? I say we take that door."

Vivien watched from a position of utter helplessness as Nezera the Vampire Countess fired the ranged bolter relentlessly at the lone enemy kobold until the fearsome weapon was entirely drained of its belt-fed ammunition. What a warrior's weapon that vampire held! Such brutality behind that one act of violence, too! Vivien had no time to be shocked by her companion's rampant cruelty before she and the other deepdelvers were whisked away to the Dungeon's main stairwell, to descend once again...

The next floor was named the Hall of Sorrows, but what sorrows were truly there had yet to be seen. The Lady of the Dungeon's disembodied presence spoke to them all in a voice that sounded so young, and yet she was still sight unseen. Vivien poked around the scene along with her Goat friend, looking for any signs of tricks, traps, or danger.

As habit would dictate, she cast a spell that she felt she'd attempted numerous times over the course of this journey within this Dungeon's depths, to no avail.

Her color-splitting magic was no good here, it seemed. If only her chakras weren't so clogged up with karmael! Hold on...

Vivien retrieved the Universal Solvent she'd been given by Nezera on the staircase, in what seemed like ages ago - what had she wanted her to do with it? Something about the cloyingly sticky presence emanating from her magical sources, of course!

Vivien unstoppered the precious bottle of solvents and took a tentative whiff of the anointing oil extract before applying it on her wrists, neck and forehead.

Item Use: Vivien uses the Universal Solvent on her Sugar-Coated Chakras!

Ah, so clean and refreshed, like a bubble of purity blossoming in the mind! Vivien was already starting to feel better, just as the voice of the Lady of the Dungeon continued on.

According to the Lady, they needed to leave behind a sorrow to continue onward, and there were only two sorrows available to take: a bunch of human tears and a torn flag.

True to her kind, the Vampire Countess Nezera had gone after the human tears, which left the flag to Vivien and Goat to inspect.

"Don't eat it, Goat! Your'e going to make the tears worse!" Vivien scolded her pet goat as she pulled the important relic from the animal's mouth.

"You scoundrel," Vivien cried, stamping her foot. "Now I'm going to have to mend it!"

She took a deep breath and recomposed herself. "Thankfully, there's a spell for that."

Vivien spared no time! When the costume construction contest commenced, Vivien was all work and very little play, save for her cohort the Goat's cavorting, of course. She hummed to herself as she worked.

"Hold still," Vivien said the Goat, metal shears in her hand. "I just need a clipping of some of your wool to get started... and *there!*" Vivien snipped off a lock of goat's wool and let the squirming critter go. She would use the wool as a reagent for her next big spell:

The wool began to glow and expand and knit itself into shape, forming precisely to Vivien's mentally visualized specifications. She was magically fashioning herself a sun dress made from Soulweave, a flowing, magic-boosting, bottle-blue cloth that seemed to radiate pure and positive energy from within. Not only did it come in Vivien's favorite colors, it was also incredibly easy material to work with. The Soulweave dress could be be shaped and dyed to the owner's will upon creation, which gave her a clear head start against the other Dungeon Delvers. She ultimately settled on a gradient of colors for the skirt that reminded her of seafoam and sky.
