This means that Splatfest results will be announced 2 hours after Splatfest ends instead of just waiting for the last region to finish up.

It's a whole collection of mini levels that test your skill and puzzle solving abilities, with the end levels making for some of the best single player Splatoon content. Once you've beaten all of that, you can choose to face the game's most challenging boss ever. Plus you get new gear and playable octolings. I cannot recommend it enough.

Some of the challenges in Octo Expansion are hellish in the best way possible. The final sequence is an incredible experience. Absolutely worth it.
