Who cares about a SS remake. What we need as a BotW remake, with actual Zelda content in it. They nailed the open world aspect. They just forgot to put a Zelda game on top of it. gently caress the beasts. They were terrible. Make actual dungeons that activate them after hitting the boss at the end. And add four other dungeons to get keys/items that are needed to access and progress through the other four dungeons. Voila, an actual Zelda game. And bring back Tingle. And have link tingle zelda.

Need something to keep me and a buddy occupied on an 17 hour long flight. shovel knight was fun cooping too. can get chaotic and might be harder than playing alone and has lots of potential for griefing so yea good fun. doing coop disables feats (in-game achievements) which seems weird but i dont really mind

maybe they'll do something different in the next game but putting ""actual Zelda"" dungeons in botw would've funked up the pacing and just gotten me impatient to get out and exploring again. making them caps to the story in a given zone was good and even then I got kinda impatient with stuff like goron escort.

unrelated to coop, i really want a translucent purple switch despite being afraid of loving up the procedure, but nostaliga might force my hand. black is just too cold for a nintendo machine. also might have to replace the front while im at it, one of the little plastic bits covering the fan has broken off at some point. anyone know if these front covers are available in anything other than black?

Atomic purp club is absolutely where it's at though thats a pretty sweet family photo not so much the bezel (though that would be cool) but rather the black plastic surrounding the power and volume buttons. all replacement parts ive seen for this have been black. though its deffo the controllers and back cover that matter most.

Sounding really good, the demo was loving fun as hell.

Unfucked some bizarre decisions regarding the map and fast travel, removed basically every “no no, sit and wait through this repeated thing for the millionth time”, various bug fixes, added new game+ with some extra bits, and enhanced one party member so you dont feel quite so crushingly expected to run the protagonist in your endgame party but lets face it you still are. The gatcha remains and is still absolute trash as are the 11 separate character improvement systems that have 0 overlap with each other.

The trick to enjoying Skyward Sword is to play it on a modded Wii so you can use Gecko codes to increase the text speed to 600% and disable Fi.

I’ve never played a Fire Emblem game. Should I? I enjoyed mario+rabbids but never played xcom or final fantasy tactics. Which would be good game to start with? How is that mobile game?

I almost wish I still had my Wii to try this  It just irked me so much how Fi repeated everything. Every time an NPC told you what you needed to do or where to go you bet Fi would pop up and repeat it, sometimes several times. It didn't help that the "quirky" way she speaks just feels... condescending? Also another thing that really sucked about Skyward Sword was fighting the Imprisoned like 30 times. It was a lovely fight the first time and it didn't get any more fun no matter how much they made you repeat it.

Heroes is extremely simplified Fire Emblem, but it's free if you want to try it. Just note that the actual games are much deeper. At this point Awakening on 3DS is probably the best starting point but be warned Fates (the followup) is much weaker.

I got mine from a Kickstarter, but they were made by basstop, so they're the same as the ones sold on Amazon. They're good, and I know a few other folks here went through the installation. My kit came with a Philips and triwing screwdriver, but I actually ended up needing and using a few extra (fortunately I had a bunch from other projects). One piece of advice I always try to put out there: there's a middle piece of plastic in each joycon where the battery is seated and the l and r buttons are enclosed; it's not necessary to replace that part for the swap, and I strongly recommend leaving it alone as possible. You can't notice once you're done unless you look at the one bit of plastic between the LR and zlzr buttons.
