Now I am near Death Mountain and ate two dozen meals just to survive burning to death on my way to the village. Where I am still burning to death

Here are some things you walked past: an NPC at a stable who will sell you three fireproof elixirs and warn you that you'll catch fire without them; an NPC at the mining camp who will teach you the recipe for fireproof elixir and give you a sidequest to gather the active ingredient, whose reward is an item that gives you a fireproof effect; and the armor shop in Goron City itself, which sells all three pieces of fireproof gear.

FFTA is a really good srpg that gets a lot of hate because the story is about a dude rejecting a fun fantasy world where he gets to be a cool warrior in favour of the real world.

You could list a dozen uncontroversially good N64 games without much difficulty, I think.

However, N64 and Gamecube games both deserve to be playable on airplanes, toilets, rooftop barbecues, etc.

Out of curiosity, how long have other Nintendo consoles had to wait for a Mario game?

It was several months for Sunshine and about exactly a year for Galaxy. On the other hand, New Super Mario Bros. U was a launch title.

U is the best one, followed by Wii, DS and 2. 2 is not a terrible game but easily the worst mainline Mario game imo. The level design felt super boring and amateurish.

2 didn't really click for me until I realized that it was a score attack game rather than a more typical platformer.

Miiverse was the only form of social media that I enjoyed using. It worked so well because the posts were sorted based on the game they were about, so you could expect your post to be read by people who know what the game is and who share your interest in it. No Facebook problem of having to explain a high-context joke to your mom, no Twitter problem of putting your video games shitposts alongside your politics shitposts.

The gameplay part of Fire Emblem Heroes is fine, it's just attached to gacha. Gacha is always terrible but the particular implementation is one of the more merciful ones. If it leads to a revival of proper Advance Wars, I'm for it.

The Mario games that are just kind of okay:

  • Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels
  • Super Mario Land
  • Mario Vs. Donkey Kong
  • Super Princess Peach
  • New Super Mario Bros. (DS)
  • Probably one of the attempts at a Yoshi's Island sequel, I didn't really play any of those

The ones that are really good:

  • Pretty much all the others

I need sleeves because when I got the Zelda preorder bundle with the case (that I'm even able to fit a dock and the power brick into, albeit awkwardly) it was for a physical copy of the game, and because I still go physical with games I am not entirely sure about and games that I anticipate I'll be able to completely finish and never want to play again.
