God I am so excited for G1, it's the best sustained period of wrestling in the year. I haven't got a goddamned clue who is going to win, my best guess is either Omega or Naito.

Do not even ask posted:it took a couple minutes for it to dawn on me, but holy poo poo we're finally getting ibushi/zsj Depending on the Block A and Block B finalists, or whoever wins this and how things go between now and Wrestle Kingdom, we might finally get Omega/Ibushi too

Random thoughts: - There's nothing quite as cool as pissed off old man Nagata getting fired up - Nagata lost - Is Makabe the new Tenzan, or is that being extremely unfair? Even so, surprised Fale got the win. - Ishii/Goto ruled... but Ishii lost!?! - Night of upsets, not all that shocked that Tanahashi lost but I am that he submitted. Good for ZSJ, even if the match wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped it would be. - I guess all the Americans who slept through the show logged on at the same time to watch it, because Naito/Ibushi was unwatchable for me as the stream just kept stopping/pausing/buffering over and over, which almost never happens with NJPW World for me. I'll have to catch it later.

I'm so glad I stopped watching and came back to Naito/Ibushi later when the network issues were over, it was such a great match and it needed to be appreciated.Thauros posted:Were you on the Japanese or the English feed? Most people I heard complain were on the English feed while the Japanese feed was perfect for me. More reason to stick with the Japanese for the block matches For what it's worth, I was watching the Japanese feed when the issues started in the main event.

Okada/Yano was a hell of a lot of fun, though I'm sad they didn't do a spot where Yano tried to yank the turnbuckle pad off and discovered Okada had tied it back up.

Skinty McEdger posted:Some of the purists are annoyed that it was too "Americanised," which is weird as it reminded me a lot of the AJ/Suzuki match that had a very similar structure to it and the same breakdown in the middle but didn't get the same criticisms. I wouldn't call it Americanized at all, and I really dug the match. I just felt the run-in/brawl, while a lot of fun and super-over with the crowd, disrupted the flow of the match a bit. As far as run-ins go, the best has to be Suzuki-Gun's return at the start of this year. The way they all came in and took out Okada's crew, then Okada starts valiantly fighting back but the whole time Suzuki is just sauntering down to the ring with complete confidence before taking Okada out was loving incredible.

algebra testes posted:What, no pun intended, is the angle here? Tama is upset about Kenny and the Bucks doing their whole sub-stable "Elite" thing, which I guess he sees as a slap in the face/suggestion that the other Bullet Club members are beneath them/somehow inferior. So he's gonna beat the poo poo out of Kenny in the hope that either he beats him and proves him wrong, or that he makes Kenny fight hard for his victory and remind him that the rest of the Bullet Club aren't just making up the numbers, while also proving to them that Kenny deserves to be their leader.

Oh my God, the only thing holding Okada together is Gedo's unshakeable belief in his perfect son..... so this might go to a 30 minute draw of 2.9999 kickouts while Elgin sobs in horror the entire time.
