Ofecks posted:I've learned in recent years that Stabbing Westward used that same chorus riff on their debut's title track. @ 2:56 Like how they had the same guitarist as Filter during that period of time and he used the same riff in Hey Man Nice Shot, with both bands agreeing not to sue each other if either song got traction. Also I LOVE the new Deftones, for what it's worth. They just have such a good grasp of melody that has always kept them apart from the slog of bands that try to ape Deftones.

Live is coming to town. I actually saw them back in the late 90's and thought they weren't that great but I am chuckling about them coming to town now. I know there was some big financial issues between Ed and the rest of the band with one of the members getting taken in by a scam and losing a lot of money and roping the rest of the band into that scam too. Anyway I think it is just Ed and a bunch of studio hands coming in for the show but I could be wrong.

I had no idea they still existed. According to Wikipedia Ed quit the band in 2009, and then later came back and fired everybody else lol.

I will always go to bat for their first two albums being good to excellent (stuff from Throwing Copper was overplayed and honestly Lightning Crashes isn't that great) but got bored of them after their third album (Dolphins Cry is hilariously bad) and never cared much for them since. I would maybe consider a cheap ticket to see them if they played Throwing Copper and Secret Samadhi in full and nothing. Last time I actually gave them much thought was when I read a Rolling Stone article a few years ago about them and how they kept getting scammed by some con artist. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/live-alt-rock-band-crime-lawsuits-1234677011/

In recent years I saw a 120 Minutes that was hosted by Henry Rollins in the mid-90s and he could barely disguise his contempt for Live when introducing one of their videos.

Mental Jewelry was before it and apparently they had another album before that one.

I think it was Death of a Dictionary or something like that. The fact that I know these two albums actually exist (never listened to them) and forgot about them either adds to or subtracts from my shame.

I was rewatching Fight Club recently and I was like wait is that the singer from Live? The waiter who recommended against the clam chowder. Yes it was

It’s also got the lead singer from 30 Seconds To Mars. He plays the guy who needs to get punched in the face more.

"I Alone" was a really funny Beavis & Butt-head video. I hadn't even noticed before that the drummer didn't have any drums, until they made fun of it.

I would consider Inlet a hard turn to straight-up shoegaze. And that's just fine with me. The FLAC files from Bandcamp are also some of the highest-quality I have in my library. Album sounds phenominal. I've heard of Shiner because one of their (former?) members was the drummer of Year of the Rabbit. My former partner and I were YotR fans and she bought a Shiner album. Was it The Egg? Maybe. It wasn't my thing, I didn't care for it.

Limp Bizkit's bassist and co-founder Sam Rivers just died at 48 No cause of death announced yet, but that's way too young for anyone to die.

Stumbled upon this Aeges band when reading an article about Quicksand. They've got some bangers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwHD-7FuXTM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWkgD-tMSTI
