It's not a joke, it's not a prank, it can be a serious loving thing and people, especially those in management, should know better by now.

That's my standpoint too. loving with somebody's food is never funny, and has way too many ways of actually hurting someone.

Until, I wake up sweating and being like what the gently caress...

I haven't worked on a line in ten years and I still occasionally wake up from ticket printer nightmares when I'm stressing bad over something else.

A friend of mine has a nut allergy, and attended a birthday party of mostly vegans. All of the dietary stuff for the birthday cake was made explicit and was therefore safe.

Then he got driven to the ER because the ice cream was made with cashew milk.

Thankfully he's fine now, but he's understandably suspicious of food if he didn't watch the prep

I only got work nightmares from ups. You'd be having a normal dream, then a conveyor belt would kool aid man in and start burying you in boxes. It was so common that they'd tell people they didn't really have seniority until they had "the dream."

Removing product from the container it shipped in is usually best practice. Most produce packaging is there to ripen the product in transit, so it will spoil your produce faster.

Kitchen work never gave me the Nightmares, but then despite it giving me migraines from the long hours and frustration it was never frantic enough or stressful in the right way to give me nightmares.

My first peak at Amazon was me working 5x 12 hour night shifts a week between Thanksgiving and Christmas, with a 40 mile commute through rush hour both ways. The end result was me repeatedly having nightmares where my bed would be full of boxes because I'd taken work "home" and I was packing in my sleep. I'd wake up having chucked my boxes pillows onto the conveyor line across the room.

Mine are mostly scenarios in which I have something I need to do (tickets on a rail, putting out a cocktail reception, a huge prep list, whatevs) and for some reason I leave the kitchen and can't get back. It's frustrating and panic-inducing and I always wake up exhausted.

I had a hard enough time hearing it when I was actually working at a bar, I doubt it's going to wake me up

Now I definitely still have nightmares involving it

I dunno, sometimes I think that maybe if I used a sound for work as an alarm I wouldn't have instant Vietnam highschool flashbacks with accompanying adrenaline spike any time a commercial uses the old standard Screeching Alarm sound effect.

Then I realize most of the sounds I remember from my kitchen days were fairly pleasant because were were bulk/batch based and not short-order and most of the alarm-ish sounds from my current job at Amazon are literal screeching, beeping, buzzing alarms anyways.

Also I remember I work nights and I really don't need an alarm currently. It's really not hard to wake up at any point before 7 PM. In fact the usual problem is getting/staying asleep.

My early morning alarm is the screaming buzzer they use when your drive thru line time reaches 5 minutes at Jack In the Box. I sleep deep and work too much. You have to startle me awake angry or I'm just going to keep sleeping.

And I only ever dream about peeling stickers off bananas and dropping cambros in the walk-in. Sometimes there's an earthquake and I'm stuck in the freezer.

RABBIT RABBIT

I don't have kitchen nightmares ( ) but I do occasionally wake up in the middle of the night thinking I'm late for work and I start to get dressed before my brain comprehends the numbers on the clock and what they mean.

My only recurring nightmare is that it's the day of the school play and I've completely forgotten my lines and I end up trying to wing it. The funny thing is that I often realize that the reason I don't know my lines is because I'm in a dream. "Aw man. This isn't real. So I have no idea what I'm supposed to say. These imaginary people are going to be mad."

One time I did this and got halfway through breakfast before my partner stumbled out of bed and said "What the hell are you doing?" Annoyed because I thought it was pretty darn obvious, I replied "Getting ready for work." They then said "It's 3AM!" I looked at the clock, heaved a big sigh, and went back to bed for a couple hours.

I just bailed from high-end catering to working as a "catering chef" making lunch for specialists and surgeons at a hospital. I'm going to feel like I'm barely trying, I think, and they'll be way happy. Any other hospital peeps in here? I'm entering a strange world.

I haven't had one in awhile, but I also used to have nightmares about being in the weeds.

Looks like I could be having them again soon, as my startup job isn't going well. I've already applied for one sushi chef position nearby. Could feel like a failure on my part, but money is money I guess.

My restaurant got featured on the news Friday, so we got absolutely stomped yesterday.

As a result, had my first ticket printer nightmare last night. (Only thanks to my hosed up brain, the printer was in my bedroom, and I had to collect certain colors of like 78 cats running around my house. Guess it could've been worse?)
