Me: "Is Land Shark really the best name to use for an enemy?"

Game: Poo Snake

Me: "No, no it wasn't."

Seems like the hidden harvest points in Star Ocean 4 were only the beginning.

I really want to know how long it took to program in making all the various objects interactable, assigning them items, making sure they're placed properly and don't overlap, and so on. I mean, intellectually I know it was probably done fairly easily once the art assets themselves were created but surely it would have been easier to just... put some more chests lying around. It's not like the chests that are there make any logical sense anyways.

Mind you I still think you should rub your face against everything throughout the entire game.

Here's the secret. You can make an invisible drop-in lickable object that can be placed anywhere in the overworld without requiring any special editing to modify objects to have.

Then you just tell your level editors to just spam them everywhere.

Yeah, like I said I figure the technical side probably isn't all that complicated it's just... take those 10 objects that drop 10 gold and put 100 gold into a chest somewhere. And they all still have text descriptions assigned to specific kinds of objects, distinguishing between how many gauges, levels, dial, pipes, etc.

Was examining background stuff the "thing" in 2007? I don't mean to get so hung up on something that I actually find kind of funny and inconsequential but it's just so weird to me to have so many small bonuses literally everywhere.

I hope there are just so many more poo based enemies so poo can be said multiple times in many future phrases. Poo snakes, poo crabs, poo birds, poo dragons, poo ghosts, poo robots, poo, poo, poo.

Poo.

Maybe I'm just a terrible muralist but if all I knew about Mural Canyon was that a bunch of murals went around attacking everybody they see I wouldn't stay in Mural Town.

The only thing I could really classify as bad (as opposed to something like cliche or underdeveloped or NOTHING AT ALL) would be the bat's constant yelling. I feel like there's a lot of potential for dialogue that just wasn't used, probably because Microsoft wanted a quick-but-decent-enough JRPG for the 360. The magic ghosts or whatever could be characters, they could talk to their own lead, all the leads, or even between each other. But it's mostly nothing.

Even if you don't come back to this it's somehow appropriate to go out on an escort mission and the most annoying thing the bat could have ever done.

You've done it, you've reached the high point of the game. It's the most notable and the one thing you could call a compelling feature. There's really not much to the game beyond this.

Incidentally, you don't actually need to worry that much about collecting Nothing, since there's an infinitely respawning Nothing later in the game. It's not obvious and probably a bug, so you'd have to look it up to know about it, but it's there. Because, although it is the best feature of the game, licking every surface of the world is actually loving atrocious and just serves to slow you down to a crawl and is, by no means, a worthwhile or interesting endeavor.

On the other hand, lick everything.

You know when I played this I assumed these stories would relate to the underlying themes of blue dragon.

It was very post modern deconstruction for the devs to not give a gently caress.

Mostly I'm just stunned at how prescient Magical Trevor is actually turning out to be for Magical Valon.

I just noticed Zola's shadow is a bat. Has that already been a thing for Marumaro and I missed it? Because that's totally going to be a thing if it hasn't.

Nothing could be worth the price of Marumaro having combat barks.

Give the shadows the combat dialogue. Problem solved.

I think they did it on purpose but I still can't help but giggle everytime someone says "land shark" super seriously.

Also, being honest, I think you should play until at least you learn how to open the colour shields on chests because this has been a long rear end time to keep them closed.
