Sent. My top 10 most hated was a lot quicker to fill up than my top 10 most liked.

YeahTubaMike posted:there are already two people who have votes in both categories. I definitely know who one of these is, because I'm probably the only one who put him down as a hate.

8 teams on my most liked and 9 on most hated, but three teams on both - Dodgers, Astros and Nationals.

There are still hundreds of players in baseball who are both a) in great shape and b) not gigantic shitheads.

I'd have no problem with you arguing that he isn't a shithead (though others may disagree), but you seem to be arguing instead that his shitheadedness is balanced out by the fact he's in good shape, which a) doesn't excuse it in any way and b) is hardly unique amongst professional athletes.

Yelich is a good player but I've not seen anything from him that demonstrates that he's funny or interesting or has anything going for him other than his unexceptional on-field ability, and if I'm picking 10 guys out of a league of 750 then that's not going to cut it. (I'm not saying he's not funny or interesting, just that for 90% of MLB I have literally no idea about their personalities and it would take weeks of research to rectify that)

I am shocked I wasn't the only person who voted for Jaso simply because of his hair. Long hair is fine, even if it's greasy, but those dreads are just an abomination bordering on gorgon-like. e: also I'd definitely have voted for Papelbon if I'd thought/remembered he was eligible.

YeahTubaMike posted:As far as I know, Lackey didn't cheat on his ex-wife before unceremoniously leaving her for his mistress. There's no real way to know how long they'd had problems. Well, calling her his mistress does kinda imply that, otherwise she's just another woman he knows.

Blackmon is OPSing .808 away from Coors. He's a good player, but there are plenty of those around the league who don't have an incredibly awful hair/beard combo.

I mean, I knew all the Cubs posters here were super homers, but... e: my non-homer list: Most Liked 1 Noah Syndergaard (good pitcher, excellent on Twitter) 2 Bartolo Colon (legendary fat guy, better now he's no longer a Brave) 3 Bryce Harper (cool dude, amazing hair) 4 Ichiro (because Ichiro) 5 Yoenis Cespedes (hits bombs, cannon arm, single-handedly got us into the 2015 postseason) 6 Adrian Beltre (head touching) 7 Nori Aoki (best interview in MLB) 8 Brandon McCarthy (funny on Twitter) 9 Robinson Cano (very cool, good since forever) 10 Jose Altuve (tiny yet awesome) Bryce Harper (cool dude, amazing hair) Most Disliked 1 Chase Utley (gently caress Chase Utley) 2 Madison Bumgarner (rear end in a top hat, redneck) 3 Daniel Murphy (only enabled god mode after leaving the Mets, also anti-gay) 4 Kyle Schwarber (waaaaaaaaaaayy overrated) 5 John Lackey (generally an rear end in a top hat) 6 Matt Garza (generally an rear end in a top hat) 7 Brian McCann (fun police) 8 Colby Rasmus (never want to see that face again) 9 Billy Hamilton (yeah he's fast but he's just not a very good player) 10 John Jaso (white guy dreads) (I got Nori Aoki confused with Munenori Kawasaki somehow)

Pancakes posted:And what's there to hate about...Kyle Hendricks? Having the Cubs fans treat him like the second coming of Maddux instead of a guy having a ridiculous outlier season was pretty irritating last year. If we'd been going down to 20 I'd probably have found a spot for him.

YeahTubaMike posted:Oh yeah, people are probably salty about Cubs fan posting in SAS, which makes no sense to me because Cubs fan posting in SAS is awesome and funny. Oh well, let them be salty, I guess. They can be awesome and funny. They can also be insufferable when they're winning and near-suicidal when they're losing, and switch between those two positions multiple times a game depending on the score, the lineup, who's warming up in the bullpen, etc etc etc. This makes it sound like I hate Cubs posters, which I don't, it's just that with their numbers and their (understandable) enthusiasm over the last couple of seasons they tend to make up a large proportion of N/V and gameday thread posts, which makes them and their tendencies stand out a lot more to the rest of us (or to me, at any rate). Before the Cubs it was Giants posters during the EYB years who were much the same. Julio Cruz fucked around with this message at 16:43 on Sep 4, 2017 |
