New Flume album is sooooooooooo good :swoon:

And what's maybe the prettiest song of his I've ever heard:

e: Is it just me or does the part of Only Fans that comes in at 0:51 sound a whole lot like Virtual Self's Ghost Voices?

I don't think it's sampled, maybe just using the same chords.

I think this is the stream for the main stage (there are 3 different streams for different stages). It seems to be the one Porter's playing, anyway.

e: Although, wait, Madeon's going to be on this other stream earlier:

This Madeon DJ set is pretty cool so far! I've been disappointed in the quality of this stream, though. Lots of audio/visual issues. It seems to be working fine now, but yeah.

Anyone staying up to watch EDC tonight? There's Kaskade and Deadmau5 doing a KX5 set, Subtronics, Jai Wolf, Tiesto, Duck Sauce, Jauz, DJ Snake and more. I'll try to stay awake but I don't know if I'll be able to stay up til 5AM like I did last night for Porter haha

Jai Wolf has been amazing :swoon: I was looking forward to seeing KX5 but I guess they aren't being streamed? That channel just has the schedule up instead of video of them. Oh well.

e: nvm, of course right after I post that they decide to stream KX5's set lol

e2: They streamed a few songs of their set but now it's back to showing the schedule  gently caress this, I'm going to sleep.

The stream schedule is borked because EDC is a gigantic shitshow behind the scenes, every DJ is completely faced, but waking up to Snoop Dogg taking the stand at sunrise is great

The same thing that happened with KX5 last night just happened with Rezz - they played a little bit of her set and I was vibing out to it, then the stream died :( Oh well, at least I got to see some of it.

I went to Brooklyn Mirage for the first time last night, saw Boris Brejcha. His set was amazing, so different from when I saw him in DC a couple months ago.

I had very high expectations for the venue and for the most part, it was just okay. I think the space is a great size and the new 200 foot video wall is amazing, making it the venue that most closely replicates a festival vibe. Also it’s accessible by subway. Sound is good, though I forgot my earplugs so I stayed 2/3 of the way back.

HOWEVER, compared to Echostage, there are definitely quality of life disappointments. I didn’t have anything to drink but the bars aren’t positioned that well. The bathroom situation is mediocre at best, along with the cup of water situation. Also the video booth obstructs some views. The process of exciting the venue is just asking for crowd crush.

That said, I would absolutely see another show there the next time in NYC, but it wasn’t clearly better than Echostage which is what I had been led to believe.

everyone should go to Shambhala once. only festival with relatively big acts I know of that doesn't have sponsorship and it's just such a wonderful experience that makes every other festival kinda bad in comparison.

the stage below is just a massive series of catwalks and passages through forest around this stage with insane amounts of bass. there are no vip areas. its all open and you can get as close or as far as you want at any point. just incredible.

And now I'm thinking of doing EDC Orlando in November. Lineup isn't out yet which gives me pause, but passes are reasonably priced, flights too.

So if Jai Wolf and San Holo tour this Infinite Light dual headliner show that they had at Red Rocks last night. I recommend you go, I had not heard a ton of San Holo's stuff before last night and its nice. It's a good mix of groovy beats and bedroom pop and Jai Wolf takes you on his usual 80s infused space journey. I really love Jai's visuals they're nicely put together and suit the music super well.

Also got tickets for the Chemical Brothers in September which I am quite enthused about. The only issue is the venue is this small arena thats basically a big basketball arena with only one level of seats.

I listened to progressive stuff when it was big in the early 2000s (:corsair:), drat this is such a great mix that I haven't listened to in forever. probably my favorite EM from that time, along with the sander kleinenberg one from 2001

definitely on the warmer side, the bluehaze and bart van wissen tracks are prog trance classics imo. Apparently Moshic is still around, which is pretty amazing. seems like the average time in the industry is only a few years. Most of the names I know from that time have long since retired.

Yeah Moshic is king at that vibe, I basically left progressive early 2000s but in the early 2010s I googled to see if he was still around and what he sounded like and was pleasantly surprised at the October 2012 mix I think it was. Def tuned me back into that sound and made me aware that progressive was still a thing just 10 bpm lower. I have a decent set a couple weeks back in the mixes thread.

sort of, the second one sounds much closer to tech house imo. those dark synths are not something I would hear in the early 2000s prog stuff. I did love the darker sounds of that time, but it was much more in the tribal/drums sound.

coming up with a list of my favorites would go on forever, but here are a few really dark ones
