That Lights remix is so damned good. It's kinda replaced the original as the 'real' version for me.

Deadmau5 and noisia, two great flavours together. Can't wait to see this live tonight.

So where I live we have one of Europe's big super clubs, and last year Flume came to town. Now that more poppy stuff usually isn't my bag, but I have to say I was surprised and impressed.

I've always been a fan of strong melody in songs, which is why i can stand to listen to someone like avicii even if he is pretty crap in every other aspect except melody writing (seriously, I saw him on a night he was headlining and someone had turned the bass up on his output because that kick was mashing and distorting against a limiter). Madeon and Flume are two good producers and I like them for easy listening, though I have little love for porter robinson.

Have a great time man! It's interesting you like Madeon but not Porter considering they have released a song together and just finished a massive tour together. I got to see them in San Francisco and it was one of the best shows I have ever been to.

I’ve seen Madeon and Porter separately and they’re both amazing. I’m sure seeing them together must be insane.

Porter puts on one of the more emotional EDM shows I’ve ever been to.

I like Madeons glitchy complextro. Porter blew up because of language and I just find that song rather obnoxious for some reason.

I like PR & Madeon a lot, and Shelter was a great song & tour (those visuals!) but honestly I don't see why people think they're so equivalent. Madeon makes cut up disco and PR seems to be spend half the time trying to get indie pop out of a Sega genesis and the other half trying to distance himself from "Say My Name" era complextro. There's definitely similarities, but for my money Madeon is much more talented and interesting. I like PR a lot, don't get me wrong, but Worlds' lyrics and melodies often hit 'cloying' for me.

The new ODESZA album dropped last night (their first in 3 years). It's really not grabbing me like In Return did :( I still play In Return all the way through at least once a month. It's just amazing song after amazing song after amazing song. This new one, though...it's not like it's terrible or anything, but the ratio of standout songs to meh ones compared to In Return is spotty at best.

For example, one of the best songs on here is Late Night, which they already released as a single months ago.

Sorry to hear you're not enjoying it :(. I'm on my third listen of it and it's been fantastic. The section of the Intro to Boy is really good imo. Then again, I really like Line of Sight (though it did have to grow on me) which some people say sounded too similar to The Chainsmokers sound.

I never really gave In Return a real listen to though, and I'll have to do that. I've also gone through and listened to some of the songs posted here I haven't heard before and it's been pretty spot on. Thanks guys!

I'm sure some of this material would be a ton of fun to witness live, it just doesn't really work as an engaging album for me, whereas In Return covers both bases.

I ended up listening to In Return, and I've surprisingly heard most of these songs. It's definitely a really well done album too. I feel like they managed to capture a similar sound/vibe with their new album.

Regardless, Odesza is really amazing and I need to experience their music live. I've been wanting to see their Red Rocks live show, especially since I've seen videos of their trap-ish song Bronko.

Some relatively new releases that I've enjoyed

Big Gigantic - Odssey Pt 1 (Krane Remix) - https://soundcloud.com/biggigantic/odyssey-pt-1-krane-remix
Krane is an amazing producer and I love what he did with this, especially considering it's a short intro to Big G's album.

I only saw them live once, and really it was only like the last 15 minutes of their set at a festival because I’d come from seeing Tycho and wasn’t as into them then, but man, that 15 minutes was loving fantastic. It made me wish I’d skipped Tycho to see their whole set instead, especially because I’d already seen Tycho a few times before and they had technical difficulties at that festival and sounded kinda lovely anyway.

I saw ODESZA here in Seattle at Bumbershoot last weekend. Fun show, plenty of live percussion (the drum line is cool and good) and horns which added quite a bit. They were about a third of the way into the set, in the middle of Say My Name, and the main stage power went out. Everybody thought they just wanted us to sing the chorus, but eventually they just wandered off stage and we realized it wasn't part of the show. Power came back about 5 minutes later and they killed the rest of it thankfully. They brought out WYNNE, Naomi Wild and Leon Bridges for their respective songs which was great. Totally agree with the poster above that the run from Intro to Boy is rad, Boy might be my favorite track on the album.

Yo, if you are in or anywhere near Texas in December, you should really go to this:

Aside from my excitement over seeing NIN, Godspeed and acts from other genres, on this lineup there's also:
Justice
Pretty Lights
Rezz
Cashmere Cat
Shlomo
G Jones
& more

This is the festival I went to last year where I saw Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Tycho, Odesza, Kaskade and more. Last year was unreal. It felt like the closest I've ever come to a religious experience. I'll remember that festival for the rest of my life, and this year looks memorable as gently caress too.

Late reply, but to answer your inquiry: the two live shows I saw were House of Blues Boston 2010 and Governors Ball 2015.

Both sets started off great but the energy just died down after the first half.

Compare Deadmau5 to say, Daft Punk, Justice, or Eric Prydz, and you'll see how two-dimensional his sets are.

That said, he's still better than Flume who is completely one-note AF.

I mean sure, deadmau5 is not quite on the same level as three of arguably the BEST live electronic acts in the the last 2 decades. But that is an incredibly high bar. Of those four (including mau5) I have only not seen Daft Punk. All of the shows were fun and worth every penny.

She played pretty much everything I could want to hear from her: her entire new album, Plague, her remix of Killing in the Name Of, etc.

If she's coming near you on this tour, I'd highly recommend you'd go see her. She's the type of performer where you don't want to take your eye off her the entire time she's playing. She's so happy and chill but she plays the filthiest poo poo. I love it.

She's humble as gently caress, too. You can tell she really appreciates her fans and wants to make them happy, which I can't say of every artist.

He showed up on JJJ talking about how he has to keep coming up with "new sounds" as people copy what he does instantly. They played one of his example and it was like a phasey ride cymbal that was pitched up and down as it rang out, it just sounded so bad and weird.
