I'm looking at buying an Xbox One wired controller and the wireless USB adaptor to use with my computer. This may be a dumb question, does it work okay with Win 7? Everything advertises the adaptor as a Windows 10 thing and doing a Google search is leading me to believe there may be issues using it with Windoes 7.

The Xbone wireless receiver only works with Windows 10 anniversary update onwards.

The old 360 controller (plus packaged separate 360 wireless dongle) works. I used it with win7, used it with win10 and now use it with my steamlink.

EDIT: I thought I read somewhere that they back ported the wireless Xbone dongle to win7 but I can’t find proof anywhere, including Microsoft’s own compatibility chart. Also, you used to be able to buy a 360 controller + dongle but apparently they’re separate purchases now.

I don’t normally dabble in spoilers but by the end I was so fed up with the main character that I simply couldn’t manage my ire anymore. Your dude is a tortured artist who is obsessed with his work, obsessed with professional validation, and obsessed enough to neglect his family to literal death. Ostensibly this is a story about redemption but you’ll soon find he’s so irredeemable that you’ll almost wish his demons would just kill him. I actually did that in the later chapters where his dead wife is wandering around, I would run him right into her cold, fatal embrace because after everything I had seen and heard from him he deserved nothing more. Seriously, to complete his masterwork he’s searching for pieces of his family, tanned skin and blood vials and an actual eyeball, to paint with. The man turned his wife and daughter into art supplies and we’re supposed to believe his soul can be saved? Really?

FWIW, I think he just killed his wife, because you play as the daughter in the sequel/dlc.

Cabela's Big Game Hunter Pro Hunts is unironically a good game. Probably the best balanced mixture of kinda serious hunting game mechanics and arcadey slow motion X-ray "I shot that bear's spine" flashiness. Sadly it does have that gamebreaking bug that will gently caress up your save near the end and prevent the game from running. You can fix it, but you'll have to hex edit your save and the bug will probably happen again anyway.

It's kind of bitter-sweet seeing it leave the store so cheap. Forever broken but still one of the best hunting games out there.

I preordered Cogmind back in the day and played throughout the early versions but frankly I just don't like it. Despite being a big fan of roguelikes it never clicked with me, its design principles are to pretty much remove the things I like about roguelikes and focus on other things.

I have a steam key in my email and don't intend to claim it, if anyone wants it for cheap I will trade it for Golden Krone Hotel which is only $9.99 as opposed to $17.99 for Cogmind.

Edit: I got the trade, thanks friend!

The one major flaw with the digital edition is that you can't set the number of (human) players to zero. It would be perfect if it weren't for having to actually play it.

The one time I did something that mattered it was to move the grim reaper to the player in the lead, who killed him due to a bad roll (he got to re-roll and rolled the same thing lmao). We all shouted at him to get back in the bucket with the rest of the crabs.

The fact that there's no Robert Muldoon's Isla Nublar Big Hunt type game is infuriating for me daily. The Cabela's games have been moderately successful budget FPS titles for a while now, targeting a generally underserved market (the hunter sim) with pretty standard light-gun style gameplay.
What I don't understand is how has this not been expanded into a fantastical world - specifically, Dinosaurs
This is not a generic "what if thing I like existed?" post; Is there something about the Hunter Sim games and their audience that rejects unreality? Certainly even the most advanced hunting game pales in comparison to any of the Sniper Elite titles in terms of actual shooting simulation - managing wind and bullet drop, for example.
But if we take as a given that the Cabela's series is not trafficking in the realism of actually luring and hunting animals, then why would we also accept it is interested in the realism of only hunting real, currently-alive animals?
Maybe I'm overthinking what's going on with these budget titles, but it seems like the hunting sim genre might be a bit underserved in the "big, featherless chicken" category, no?

From what I gather SoW is somewhat harder than Mordor, but not much harder and the lootboxes can only make it even easier.

So for the bit of internet sleuthing I did I guess upping the difficulty only effects how fast captains will adapt to you (namely vaulting over them) and how much damage you take. Balls, I feel like everything could use like double the health. Or even triple. I ended up taking off all my damage gems and went back to older gear just so things wont die so quick. It takes a lot of oomph out of the game when I'm told about this badass thing and I fight it and kill it with 4 arrow shots, or 30 seconds of smacking it with my sword.
