Drifter posted:Also, the Borderlands people rereleased one of the best shootmans to exist, Bulletstork, but don't buy the "remastered" one, just torrent the original one, since they've pulled it from sale. It'll drop in price really quickly; You can pick it up on the PS4 for reduced price. I think I picked up the original for $8 at one point. Bulletstorm is actually a really entertaining shooter that got overshadowed by 'Rage', which is not a recommendation unless you pick it up for pennies. The re-release smacked of attempting to ride the coat-tails of a solid cult status.

Palpek posted:It seems like a really unofrtunate design decision. From what I'm reading some of those missions feature a kidnapping squad going after you and you can keep fighting that squad without realizing that the encounter is designed for you to fail, so they'll keep respawning and attacking you until you lose. Then the main mission starts with some long-rear end cutscene monologue that you have to sit through and then you're shoved into a corridor map. All the while you wanted to have some open-world fun and were taken out of it against your will. I hope they patch this or something because it's weird for a company with a lot of experience in making open-world games. Yes. All that's true, although the first zone involves three encounters with the squads; then you get blissed for Faith, and I haven't done Jacob yet, but as orv said there's three progress markers per 'zone'. Because I finished the first zone with a bunch of side missions to spare, I suspect that it's a way to keep the story moving and make the DLC somewhat more valuable because enemies stop spawning in zones that have been liberated. On the one had the cutscenes can feel onerous, but they're trying to tell an actual story (albeit a bit dumb and odd, because the writers wanted to subvert the trope at the end); Like you can see them striving for Vas without actually knowing why Vas was so much fun.

During the game you'll hit M to go to a map screen; this allows you to order your guys to follow waypoints, move cautiously or charge. Single mode at the moment, which is conquer the map.

Doorknob Slobber posted:I say of the last few far cry games 3/4/5 primal/neon whatever just play whichever has the most interesting setting to you because they are all essentially the exact same game In the same way that they've been making the same assassin's creed over and over, sure. Farcry 5 is generally going to involve a lot more mayhem; cultists tend to end up accreting, and while the world is pretty well fleshed out, the actual player agency isn't there, and you're inside a pretty conveyor belt. It does, however, have Peaches, which makes up for a lot of poo poo, IMO. Helicopters tend to trivilize a bunch of the collectathons, though. Farcry 4 was pretty good, but I hated some of the set pieces. I loved Pagan Min, but the whole 'who is really the bad guy' loses a bunch of nuance after you've offed half his army. No so hectic as the more recent offering, but Rhinos and Elephants are fun to watch go a bit mental. FarCry 3 was pretty much in it's element, but didn't really capitalise after Vas, who was great. The whole 'white saviour' thing was a bit distasteful, but it's a computer game, don't overthink. However, the best of the lot is Blood Dragon. Great plot, storyline - bit samey on some of the things, but generally a great experience that should have had a follow-up that was just as pulpy. Alien Rope Burn posted:I've only watched a friend with Agents of Mayhem for awhile, but it really struck me as a game that went through some kind of dev hell - it just feels so unfocused where it's just not doing anything all that well. It's not aggressively bad, but it's just not good at anything. It struck me as a game dying for multiplayer - not that multiplayer would have made it a great game, but I think it would have at least given it a bit of longevity that other mediocre games like Borderlands had thanks to the shared experience. Everyone is right about this game, and I'm heading for completion on the PS4 version because I have weird brain spiders. You can shift the difficulty of the levels up a bit, which introduces different kinds of enemies, but the whole thing is aggressively bland; even where they've used obvious Saint's Row references, it's shaded like an offbrand cola. Kinzie becomes 'safeword', Johnny Gat now appears to be a Korean police officer and Kingpin apparently used to hang out with Pierce. Driving is _awful_, the writing is not great, and it's not until about halfway through that it vaguely mixes up the formula. There are two loyalty missions per character, and a smattering of collectible crap, but honestly it's a solid 'meh', and I'm like a massive Saint's Row fan. Still holding out hope for Oleg.
