Tacoma is basically Gone Home plus the "ghosts" from System Shock 2. I liked it, but it was a bit underwhelming. If you only got money for one single Walking Simulator this week, you should probably pick up What Remains of Edith Finch instead, which is on sale now.

My experience with Borderlands 2 scaling: There is a mechanic where enemies that are too high level for you will have a skull over their head. I did not notice this mechanic until I tried doing an optional raid boss postgame, and got a tutorial popup about it.

Cojawfee posted:I finished The Witness today. I cheated on a few puzzles because if I don't figure it out after a few minutes, I'd rather just move on with the game. Sometimes I just don't have the time, especially when the puzzles in a series sometimes go up and down in difficulty. Though I did have to use a puzzle type guide all the time because I'd forget what each symbol means between sessions.. All in all, I really enjoyed the game. The puzzles were fun and the game is very beautiful. I'm not entirely sure if it had a story. I got some kind of meaning out of the ending, but I didn't understand the optional bits. Like why am I watching a video of a guy trying to carry a candle across a windy ruin? I'll have to go back and look for the rest of the environmental puzzles and some of the other optional bits. As far as I understood it, the island is just a place to meditate in whatever way you find best. Did you find the secret ending, by the way?

http://store.steampowered.com/app/676820/Subsurface_Circular/ is a cool little game about robots and their place in human society. Basically a Visual Novel, so don't expect any gameplay apart from conversations.

Quest For Glory II posted:A lot of people wanted Bulletstorm without the awful GFWL integration, but Gearbox thought the best thing to do was sell it at $60 and half-assedly put Duke Nukem in it and call it a day. And also they didn't award it to original Bulletstorm owners, and offered a discount that was just not good enough. Just a note - on your 2016 list you should exclude Skyrim Special Edition and the Bioshocks because most of those numbers are from people that owned the original Skyrim/Bioshock and got the updated version for free. I would also exclude games that's been on Steam for years but got out of Early Access in 2016, like Don't Starve and Starbound.

Unbalanced posted:I was more ok with it than what is typical with that style of ending, because at the very least (ALSO HUGE SPOILER!) the simulation was based on events that had really happened. How the real Morgan handled the situations is left up in the air and all we can know for sure is that he/she didn't kill or let Alex die. She probably got killed by the Nightmare because she didn't have quicksave/quickload

They should make a Quantum Break spinoff game where you failed to save the world. Make it a survival game where you have to run around an open world gathering supplies, with the whole world being frozen in time.

CJacobs posted:Reading through the guy's analysis, I think what happened to cause it to crash and burn is that he pushed the game ahead of the marketing. In the article he says that he put the game out and then mentions the lack of publication about it. It seems like a case of putting the cart before the horse- imo it'd make more sense to wait for journalists etc to cover it first and then put the game out instead of the other way around. That's not a bad idea for indies though. Like, if you get a one-paragraph mention in RPS that says your game will be out in a few weeks it won't really matter because 99% of the readers will forget the game is coming out. But if you get them to say "this interesting game is OUT NOW" it means that people slightly interested can just go and buy it.
