Is there any TL:DR on how the Elder poo poo works? I noticed some of my yellow maps getting taken over by Elder and his cronies while I was chaining T16s yesterday and took the time to try one but other than the general poo poo that shows up in every Elder-influenced map (extra mobs and tentacle portals) nothing happened, not in the map and not on the Atlas. So I just shrugged and went back to doing regular T16s.

I want to start a HC SSF character, but I don't know what build to play. I've never done this, so I definitely value durability, I want a little forgiveness when I forget what a certain boss tell is for. My last character was softcore, but didn't die first till the act V innocence fight, and was pretty frail at that time, so I fell like I'm getting less bad at this game.

One new thing I noticed is that 'rifts' open up on the ground when you find green spots on the map and go stand on the tentically thing. They spawn a bunch of monsters and usually a boss. What are these things and what's the story behind them? They certainly didn't exist back when I played before!

I can't imagine being a new player of this game at this point. Between abysses, breaches, shaper map takeovers, remnants, Labyrinth trials etc etc etc.

There's very little you have to know to start playing and you can pick new things up at your own speed.

Question about Abyssal jewels. If it says "Adds X lightning damage to wand attacks", does that only apply to the base wand standard attack (which I never use), or does is apply to attack spell gems that are set in that wand?

It applies to the standard attack and any wand skill that has the attack keyword (kinetic blast, barrage, power siphon)

Do we know what the red Elder degen is? Was looking at my Pantheon and wondering if Soul of Ralakesh - 25% reduced physical damage over time taken - would be any help.

Souls Wick seems like it'd be interesting to combo with some kind of charge granting with Power Charges, although having never played minions before much less crit minions I dunno how useful it'd really be if you can't boost their crit multi. Also does anyone know if the duration imposed by the jewel is affected by increased/decreased skill duration?

What's the best 5l setup for Molten Strike w/ 2 threshold jewels? Right now I'm using MS - Melee Phys - AC - Maim - Ele Focus. I'm pretty sure the first three are good but I could see arguments for LMP and / or Conc Effect and / or Added Fire and / or WED. Tooltip isn't any help because the meatballs don't register on it.

Suggestions on where to go from here? https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-profile/sab669/characters Resistances are capped, 3.5K HP and working towards a handful of % HP nodes. I've got a whopping 21C in the bank and not a whole lot more worth of other Orbs to liquidiate. Not sure what I should focus on upgrading. I lower my config file to potato settings because my ancient machine likes to hang on zone changes but I guess this recent patch really buggered it up? Every time I would save the settings texture_filtering=0 and texture_quality=5 it would revert to texture_filtering=2 and texture_quality=0 (yes, these are potato settings) when I start the game. The other things I've fiddled with seem to stick but even these two things changing I notice a huge impact on performance. Any way to get my config file to behave?

I seem to have stumbled bass ackwards into a decent leveling build on my Duelist with Molten Strike and the Ancestor gem thingy. The amount of loot left of the floor is killing me though, I miss being able to smash bad gear on the move.
